alexanders Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Samir Nasri Considered one of the biggest talents there is. Probably ###### expensive ! I've heard he is being followed by all the big clups in Europe.

Darth Paul Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Benitez, and indeed Liverpool as a Club always seem to have this policy of offering ridiculously low fees for other players, ie supposedly Bentley, Duff, Gareth Barry spring to mind, and seem insulted that the smaller clubs don't rollover, die and accept their offer, and then want crazy fees for their own players, and yet can't seem to spot the irony. Joke of a club.

Joke of a club. They want £15 million for Crouch, even though he has only started nine games this season... And i'm pretty sure i've read somewhere he isn't tied to a long term contract either. When Bentley was linked to them the figure being talked about was £10 million...
they_think_its_all_rover Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 De Canio has left QPR wonder if there is something in the Zidane rumours?
1864roverite Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hey Den, I wasnt even aware the Newcastle had a future !! As for the paying off of the stadium, your facts are wrong. Newcastle DO NOT own their own ground 100%, they can never do that due to the buildings around the ground, the council own 25% and 10% or so belongs to a simple landowner. This is information from a family member who is a big barcodes fan.
Ronin Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Eric Carriere who would have been ace in our team, unfortunately he is too old now.. anybody know where Maroun Chamak might go to?and we could look at Samir Nasri and Mamadou Niang at Marseille....some good african players.dont know what they would go for though If they do come to the Premier League they'll probably end up at Pompey, as ol' dirty 'arry does like his African players, although he'll probably still moan when it comes round to the ANC.
Spansterkid Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I haven't heard that he only owns one stand, as far as I was aware he owns the building but the council own part of the land it's on, I know they bought up the land around the ground (above the metro) so they can develop the gallowgate in the future and build an hotel and apartments. Mmmm, if they extend it that way it'll stop the sun coming through my windows!!

This is information from a family member who is a big barcodes fan. St. James park is actually part of the Town Moor and Castle Leazes communal land on which anyone can graze their cattle. It is communally owned and it's rights are held by the City Freemen, exercised by the council. I believe Newcastle Utd still pay a nominal fee to the City Freemen because they don't exercise the right to graze their cattle on the land. Just behind the stadium on the Town Moor you'll find cattle grazing most of the year. As a citizen of Newcastle I think I may buy some cattle and demand my rights!
S15 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Wenger who hasn't won a cup/league in how long now? He has a good team but a team that doesn't win when it counts. Ferguson who has to be one of the elite managers and even he had a spell where people doubted his ability to take them forward. Grant imo is a poor excuse for a manager, I think the coaches deserve the credit for there success this season. Benitez is a typical spanish manager, has his priorities all wrong. He doens't have the charisma of the others and imo is not good enough to be in the elite group of managers. I think you're spot on with regards to Benitez. I also think you're bob on about Ferguson, and I think what you have written about him will be applied to Wenger in a couple of years. He is the best of the lot IMO. I think everyone has been very unfair to Grant. It took a long time but for the first time ever the last couple of weeks have had me in disbelief at the quality of Chelseas' attacking play, and whilst it does leave them not quite as 'unbeatable' as they were under Mourinho, I think they are far more watchable, and you cannot argue with his record up to now as far results go. He has done EXACTLY what he said he would when he took over, and deserves alot of credit for doing so.
Oklahoma Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 News here report that Totthenham has transfer listed Ricardo Rocha, Paul Robinson, Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio e Younes Kaboul. Would any of these be a good player for Rovers?

rover6 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Kaboul is one of the reason's Martin Jol's reputation suffered a landslide. Jol hyped him as the best young defender in Europe but in a Tottenham shirt, he played like Lorenzo Amoruso.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Just heard from a friend who supports Spurs that Bentley is signing for them shortly. Fact or rumour I don't know which, but haven't we been here at least once before?

adopted scouser Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I'm sure Keegan's legging it from yet another managerial post. This time staging a face off with Ashley tomorrow.
1864roverite Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I really think your right AS. It has all the hallmarks of an "I cant handle it situation" and his remarks will see a one way ticket for wor kevin.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 The Blackpool "BAFTAs" http://www.thefootballnetwork.net/main/s608/st128898.htm Loving the sentences about Bumley & new Pompey badge... what was the point in changing? http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/new-...outh-crest_1036 looks the same as the old one, but as like the QPR one...looks just like a bad photoshop/3d version of it
Russ Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Nicko, Any news on the Jefferson Farfan situation? Who is watching him, and are Rovers still showing interest?? I seem to remember us having a slight link with him a while ago, and him even saying he was willing to buy out his contract to get the right move?? I think he'd be a great signing, perfect up alongside Santa or on left wing, so would give us options. An exciting player to watch too. Would we have any chance of getting him??
EwoodGlory Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Nicko, just noticed the Jags are visiting my place in July, I shall look forward to seeing them in action. Jags will kick-off against Blyth Spartans at Croft Park on Saturday, July 5 (3pm) "Blyth Spartans are a good quality Conference North side and they will be our first run-out. They will force us to come up to the mark immediately. Games against English opposition always have an edge, so I expect this one to be a competitive encounter to start with." I wouldn't worry to much, we are not good quality, they must of seen us last season and not this Thistle Pre-Season 10 mile North East of Newcaslte, if you are wondering where we are.

EwoodGlory Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Thats a 5 day break after the Euro 2008 final Last time we played a Scottish First Division team was Falkirk a few years back, we got spanked 7-0, and I remember we made Russell Latapy look like a world beater.
