RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I've got a feeling the game will be a close one and settled by the odd goal. I believe the performance against Villa was our best for some time and hopefully we are starting to look as solid as we were at the begining of the season. It will be tight but i reckon 1-0 to Rovers.

USABlue Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Samba and Nelsen both out......rovers 0 - 3 everton.Long day for rovers today. Funny that, SSN yesterday said Nelsen out so Rovers to name unchanged team, I thought you dumbasses isn't Samba suspended?
T4E Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Is that a bad thing?? Both Nelsen and Samba have been poor in recenlt months It's definitely about time Zurab and Ooijer got a chance.
Fife Rover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I hated going to Ewood after i had knee surgery last season, some of the people in the Blackburn End really didn't make it easy for me to navigate the concourse. Bet you cannot wait to get rid of the crutches now 1864roverite. Got a feeling we might just sneak a win against the run of play today with Everton having about 20+ shots and us popping up with an 89th minute winner thanks to big Jason Roberts. Blackburn 1 Everton 0 (Red card for somebody though) You're a cheefull chappie! Let's hope it's not one of our CB's then. BTW anyone know who the ref is today?
T4E Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Alan Wiley - who's only given one red card in 20 games this season. And before you ask, yes it was to Ryan Nelsen.
krislu Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 McCarthy on the bench once again, otherwise a line up as expected.
T4E Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 So is that a 5 man midfield with Derbyshire on the right and Bentley in the "hole", or 4-4-2 with Derbyshire partnering Santa? Glad to see Derbs starting anyway, we should give him a run of games.
John Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I always feel more comfortable when Derbs is in the team. He works extremely hard and defends from the front (along with Santa), creates opposition defences problems as he runs the channels well. Plus, he is a good finisher.
Lathund Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I'd rather have Benni in there, at least if Matty is playing on the right.
Eddie Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Derbyshire isn't good enough, not happy that he's starting after he did very little last week.
John Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I think it is a bit harsh to say he is not good enough. He has not really had a proper chance.
Eddie Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 He's had quite a few starts and I can't ever remember being impressed with him when he's started, that is saying something. He's good off the bench a lot of the time, but he's not the player I'd choose to put in a very important game against side with quite a good back four.
doctorryan Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I think it is a bit harsh to say he is not good enough. He has not really had a proper chance. He missed a damn penalty that may have cost us 2 huge points. Sounds like a proper chance to me.
John Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 So he is a bad player because he missed a penalty......
Fife Rover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 He missed a damn penalty that may have cost us 2 huge points. Sounds like a proper chance to me. I don't think it was so much a Derbs miss; more a Carson save. He read it well or got lucky. Take your pick. Don't forget they both train and play together for the England U21's.
tony gale's mic Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I don't think it was so much a Derbs miss; more a Carson save. He read it well or got lucky. Take your pick. Don't forget they both train and play together for the England U21's. it was a poor penalty. derbyshire isnt good enough to be a regular starter in the premier league, and i don't think he ever will be
tony gale's mic Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 dunn very lucky not to get sent off for two yellows. needless handball.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Just going off the radio, but from what i've heard we have been shocking. No real attacking chances whatsoever for us and Everton the better team by far that first half.
LeChuck Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 dunn very lucky not to get sent off for two yellows. needless handball. Indeed, very lucky. I think we'll probably finish the game with ten, Johnson is giving Zurab a hard time and he's now on a yellow, it's not like we can replace him either. I'd like to see us go more 4-4-2 with Derbyshire through the middle and Bentley out wide. It's too congested in the middle for Bentley to be effective and Derbyshire's pace would be useful on the shoulder of the last defender, we're playing too many backward balls at the moment.
Rover Down Under Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Pretty dire first half. Our balls in the final third are turd. Looks like Everton might sneak this one unless Hughesie gives a really inspirational half-time talk or even more inspirational substitution (Roberts!).
tchocky Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Aye Dunn was very lucky there. Been a poor, poor half from him. Zurab has really struggled with Johnson, and Gamst (unsurprisingly), Emerton and Derbyshire have more to offer. Lets hope this was our poor bad. In that case there's no reason we can't win this.
joey_big_nose Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Everton have been the better team so far. Were in a bit of a quadry at the moment. We are paying 451 but if we bring on a striker we won't be able to compete> Their midfield is so strong....
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I just don't get why Hughes plays Derbs on that right hand side. Its not the first time this season he has played him there, and from what i've seen he doesn't look comfortable there.
rovers1993 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 derbs cannot play on the right! he doesnt have the muscles to do so! put benni up top! bents on the right! and we'll be just fine!!!! come on rovers!!
