Hey guys - nice way to start the morning isnt it

Looks a quality player and will no doubt get better, he still ONLY 22.

Interesting to see that nicko said he would replace bentley on the right wing, i thought you mentioned nicko that he would play in the central atttacking role. But from watching a few of his clips hes leftfooted. Thinknig of that he could be our messi on the right wing :rover:

Also i found this article, dont have a clue what language its in but let me guess.. it sometihing to do with the player himself and real madrid. Translation please anyone.

Nicko, at what stage are we in the persuit of Carlos Villanueva? I would expect other clubs would be interested?

Is he a plan B option if the Castillo move falls through, or do you reckon were going for him anyway?

castillo and villanueva are completly different players

Some news on Brad today Nicko?

Ince targets is almost more exciting than Hughes, I mean two world class midfelders linked. I think Ince want's andrews as a squad player and not someone for the first 11 but I've seen Andrews and he's got what it takes to be a squad player. Andrews is not so exciting but could be shrewd buy.

I expect Mokoena too leave if Andrews comes in.

im a bit surprised according to the LET that spurs have made a bid for bentely which has een rejected. Looking at it actually im not, thye want hard all with us over robinson why give them a bit of their own medicine :closedeyes:

Also nicko you said last night they were selling 3 player to raise 8million or so for bentley, those players havent even agreeed terms with sunderland yet and how could spurs have recieved their fees already. It must be a loer bid like villas probably

CARLOS VILLENUEVA - Is the player I heard about a few days ago and was sitting on until a couple of things started leaking out. My understanding is that Rovers are the side who have made the bid. His club will sell - as they showe dby accepting the Real Sociedad offer before it fell through. The player is keen to come. So it's 'finger out' time and get it done. As with all moves, there is work to do - and this is harder because he is thousands of miles away. But this one is truly worth the effort. I don't often get excited by watching clips of players, but he looks an absolute worldie. I hope this comes off - I would enjoy watching this guy. He is, as you will see, ledft-footed. He is NOT the right winger I hinted at - that one is off.

BRAD FRIEDEL - Nice to see the story followed up and confirmed. Work still to be done, but getting closer - and I think Brad and the club carved up his 'I want away' piece to make a sale easier. Fair enough.

PAUL ROBINSON - Still haggling on the price.

DAVID BENTLEY - Ah, so that was right too. Because it is Spurs that will take a bit of doing, but things are moving...slowly.

TOTTENHAM - Bringing the players back...there were FOUR not three...is little short of farcical. I would be amazed if any more than one joined Sunderland. The game's gone made. So that won't give them the extra cash for Bentley. Although Berbatov and Keane might. :lol:

STEVEN WARNOCK - The Newcastle bid is a joke. He could be unsettled by it, my gut feeling is that there are better clubs for him, but you don't sell for anything under £5 million.

So, in short...if you get ROBINSON for Brad, CASTILLO, VILLANUEVA, ANDREWS and a RIGHT BACK plus a RIGHT WINGER if Bentley goes that would be SIX players in and two out. You might end up being about £4-5 million out of pocket but possibly stronger overall.

I have the Telegraph in front of me and the Friedel story is mainly made up of quotes from John Williams basically saying it was a bolt from the blue when he said he was thinking of moving clubs and that a deal will only be done if it suits Rovers commercialy and on the playing field as he said 'Brad Friedel's dont grow on trees'! It says both Villa and City are showing an interest, but we already knew that.

Therefore if nicko is right about his previous assertions that we get the replacement in before we consider selling Friedel, the story is a complete non starter. WANT TO RE-THINK THAT?

But it has whipped up needless ill feeling against our manager. SEE ABOVE.

As did the the story about him not attending the coaching course in Wales. FACT - AND VERY RELEVANT.

And rumours of signing Andrews. FACT - AND THE ORIGINAL WAS NOT MY STORY.

Then again Ince never was nicko's choice as new manager. SCANDALOUS.

If these stories come off I'll hold my hand up, but in the meantime we've not signed anyone nor sold anyone. GET THE DEODARANT READY... :lol:

nicko, does it look very unlikely that fridel will sign for villa today fo the deadline needed to register him for villas intertoto game :unsure:

It's black and white really.

If Rovers get a replacement - Robinson - sorted out, then Brad goes.

And that is still down to valuations, but I think there is some urgency in this now after the LET got the blessing to give it a shove.

Whats the latest with Castillo?

Plus i cant see us buying a right back and a right winger, im thinking Emerton will take up one of them roles next season.

Wonder if this Villanueva will be occupied in a free role behind a front two or a lone striker?

Although he sounds very exciting he looks the sort of player who might be considered a luxury and would be probably better having two midfeilders behind him rather than one.

I have no more news on Castillo, but that has to be resolved soon.

Right backs galore are being watched and a specialist one will be signed.

Emerton will get his chance on the right wing, but there are better right wingers also being discussed and moved for.

Villanueva can play anywhere Villanueva wants if he scored goals like that... :lol: It's like saying 'I don't know where Maradona would fit in a 4-4-2.' You make it happen for players like this.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if you played a different way next season.

Aye the impression that I got from that piece was John Williams doing the ground work (in terms of preparing supporters) for the imminent departure of Brad, no way Rovers would have gone public if there was a chance of Brad staying.
