des Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 it would be ok if his record backed up what he said, however it does not, yes he is the right person for us, but actions speak louder then words. Lets your deeds do the walking, not ones mouth.

SouthAussieRover Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Say it again Sam. Just to read the expected over reaction on this thread.
otto man Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Dude go in to work monday morning, tell your employer you aint suited to the company and that in fact you should be working for one of your far larger competitors, where you'd be much more successful.......How long do you think you'd be given to clear your desk, but then that would be an over reaction, right?

Of course it would be when said tongue in cheek. I say it every Monday morning and Friday afternoon.

Of course ottoman, if you are good at what you do then you may very well get a raise.
otto man Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Of course it would be when said tongue in cheek. I say it every Monday morning and Friday afternoon. Well according to white in peace(the bolton fan) he said the same thing at bolton. Now either he's got a small stock of one liners or he genuinely believes his own hype. First he states we "bought the title". Now this crock of horsesh1t! No wonder people are naffed off with the guy. Of course ottoman, if you are good at what you do then you may very well get a raise. Yep that's true! Your feet "raised" off the ground, as security frog march you off the premises.
Amo Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Think that would be pretty close to madness at this stage. Don't want to turn into City and so on. Whilst I agree he should keep his jowls shut, I think he is very good at what he does and we do owe him some semblance of latitude for saving us from the precious managers disaster. Like they say about singers - "Shut up and manage" Works both ways, Reb. He was hardly in high demand before he came here, and he's on a very cushy number. If the future takeover is the real deal, we can aim higher than Big Sam. He's bread and butter for a club of our current size, but he has some serious delusions of grandeur.
broadsword Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 What a complete plank this geezer is. I don't care if it's tongue-in-cheek or tongue-in-crack, he's making a fool out of himself.

If the future takeover is the real deal, we can aim higher than Big Sam. He's bread and butter for a club of our current size, but he has some serious delusions of grandeur. I'd say he's earned his delusions. Top half on a negative transfer budget. The team is playing well. All things considered, I believe we'll be top half again even without funds. And who would do better and is available? I say Sam has earned a chance with a bit of a transfer kitty.
Backroom DE. Posted September 18, 2010 Backroom Posted September 18, 2010 Well, at the very least Sam does a good job of taking media attention away from the squad and placing it on himself.
BuckyRover Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Well, at the very least Sam does a good job of taking media attention away from the squad and placing it on himself. I considered that myself before remembering that the media don't write about our squad anyway.
booth Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Regardless, what he said was lacking in thought to the feelings of every paying Rovers fan. It's led to the headline Give me a Real job which makes a mockery of Blackburn Rovers, a club with more history and character than many of the so called big clubs put together. He should apologise just out of common courtesy. I'm proud to be a Rovers fan, he should be proud to manage them.

philipl Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Sam doing a brilliant job at diverting media attention and making sure it doesn't go all Golbergy or taken over!
Iceman Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 To hell with that theory Philip, its a bloody stupid thing for Sam to have said. He is still employed by Rovers, so he should respect the club. He is not only making himself look stupid, but its making a right ol mockery of everybody connected with the club. He should indeed apologise, and should try and ban himself from speaking to the media. Who are our PR people?
MikeB Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Don't underestimate Sam, he's clever. He has not given up on a big job - he'd die to be the England manager - however, he's probably ensuring that he's front of mind for whoever takes over in order that he gets first shot with an investment pot. Let's face it, if the rumours about the wealth of our suitors prove correct, they would think nothing of blowing him out and bringing in their flavour of the month. Lon may Sam reign at Ewood - a football genius.
philipl Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Grooby has already posted it was a Sam joke... unlike his Wenger spat- that is real and losing to the Arse really hurt. I think Sam is OK if Syed or Shah buys- no idea about the others.
BuckyRover Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Win today and it was a joke. Lose and it was a bloody insensitive and stupid thing to say.
T4E Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 He has not given up on a big job - he'd die to be the England manager Sounds like a win-win to me. These comments are a timely reminder of what we're missing in Mark Hughes. Some people took a dislike to Sparky due to some of his comments when he went to Man City. Atleast he waited. Sam is still our manager and is still being derogatory.
Roost Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I dont care how it is meant to be taken - I take offense that he thinks as the mangaer of Blackburn Rovers he can spout off this way and use words like manage a 'real' club. I wonder if there is a big blank page on his CV from May 2007 to Jan 2008? I can hear it now - "Erm no Mr Perez, that was another Sam Allardyce managing Newcastle - I was at home watching Real Madrid videos in preparation for the job you are about to offer me" Let me tell you Sam - you aint as good as you think you are.
T4E Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Grooby has already posted it was a Sam joke... It doesn't matter if he says it's a joke. If I go down the pub with my missus and in front of all our friends announce that she's a fat ugly dog who makes a bad sandwich, should she be expected to forgive me if I later claimed it was a joke? Bloke's an idiot.
S15 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Sorry, have some people still not latched on to how hilarious it is that Big Sam Allardyce has said he should be Real Madrid or Inter Milan manager? I suppose those people are still too enraged to accept that he's taking the p**s out of pretty much everyone now, for only personal amusement reasons I'd imagine. Todays post match interview is going to be a belter.

You can't keep making excuses for the guy shillito15, even the pro Sam lobby on here are getting tired with him pimping himself around and creating an unwanted media circus.

I'm not making excuses. As nicko said, it's a game, and characters/humour make games more fun. Everybody needs to stop being so bloody sensitive.
