John Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Moyes might be tempted to Rovers?? What planet do you live on?? All the Sam-sackers need to seriously think about who would want to come to Venkys Park -apart from the out of work like Suntan Brown. Rovers are not Man City- funds are still limited.Be careful what you wish for. Very true, even under new ownership, by all accounts we are still going to have very little to spend on new players (in comparison with other clubs). All very well saying you want Sam out etc however there is a lack of decent managers around IMO. Be very careful what you wish for and all that....

PAFELL Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Reason I said moyes as he may be out of a job himself before too long if he isn't careful. Well Moyes didn't do that good today did he. I am slowing starting to think a fresh start now may be best. A new manager coming in now, would be able to assess the squad during december and then know what he wants and the budget available. But who to consider. I do think at the moment it would be best to have somebody with prem experience. Who may consider leaving their current job. But that would then involve compensation all round. Sacking Sam costs money as does appointing a manager already in a job. Knowing that there only a little bit of funding in January - can we afford to sack Sam and appoint a manager who is currently at another club at the expence of the transfer budget. The answer is no. Unless the Venky's want to spend a few more million. I suppose a cheaper option would be sacking Sam and giving the job to somebody who is not with a club at the moment. The only one I can think of at the moment who is without a club, is Martin O'neil. But would he be the answer. But it wouldn't surprise me if he would appeal to the Venky's / Kentaro people.

sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Well Moyes didn't do that good today did he. I am slowing starting to think a fresh start now may be best. Considering they want entertaining football I would be surprised if O'Neill would be an option. I personally think our next manager will be foreign.
PAFELL Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Absolutely no chance! Coyle is a million times more likely to come to us than the other two!!! And like I said, I only think he would come if we had serious money available. Not a chance that Coyle would come to Rovers - no chance at all. Not when you look at the squad, league position and the backing he has now at Bolton. But he is also an ex player. he was doing good at the dingles, yet soon jumped ship when the job offer for bolton came up.
chaddyrovers Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Why is everybody pro MO'N now? I work with many Villa fans who say that his football was boring, counter attacking, defensive, long ball football!!! The team played badly today and it's the team at FAULT NOT THE MANAGER!!! I say let's back the manager with some finances to bring in three or four players. A new left back, right winger, midfield playmaker and a TOP QUALITY STRIKER. We have had one bad result and look at people calling for BS to be sacked. We have taken 9 points from 15. Be beaten at OT and WHL, which you would expect tbh, but we beaten Wigan, Newcastle and Villa. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE WERE SAYING THE BS SHOULD BE SACKED AFTER WE BEATEN VILLA WHERE YOU???
Sandiway Blue Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 To those calling for sam`s head,we are 1 win off 7th place having spent not ONE SINGLE PENNY in the summer! Get a grip ffs!
gumboots Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 To those calling for sam`s head,we are 1 win off 7th place having spent not ONE SINGLE PENNY in the summer! Get a grip ffs! To be fair, those who are calling for the manager's head were calling for it before. It's just that quite a few on here can see the new owners wanting it now after not just a defeat but a humiliation. If they ARE going to change manager they will want to do it before the window. I don't see them rushing this week but a defeat next week or humiliation at Bolton and I think they just might.
Hughesy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Spirited defeat to chelsea...3 wins out of 4....followed by a hammering at United and people call for our manager to be sacked now?? 2 weeks after we got new owners & when sat in 13th...with a very tasty run coming up. Sorry but now is not the time.
ABBEY Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 NONE OF THESE PEOPLE WERE SAYING THE BS SHOULD BE SACKED AFTER WE BEATEN VILLA WHERE YOU??? ER YES I WAS!!!!!!!!! Spirited defeat to chelsea...3 wins out of 4....followed by a hammering at United and people call for our manager to be sacked now?? 2 weeks after we got new owners & when sat in 13th...with a very tasty run coming up. Sorry but now is not the time. SORRY BUT NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME.
bringdunnback Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 if shipping 7 is competing then I'm bin laden. Yes, because the season lasts only for one game.
benhben Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Im not a fan of Allardyce, never have been never will be unless he drastically changes his style of football. He was the single manager I disliked the most in football well before we signed him. I wouldnt sack him though, not this season anyway. Hes probably the best manager available to keep a team with limited resources in the premier league. The time to change if at all would be early summer when were free from the threat of relegation. Saying that though, he had a couple of years when he made Bolton ok to watch with signings like Okocha and Campo. I suppose we cant really judge until has had abit of cash to play with. Chimbonda signing is shocking though, he was crap when we first got him and has consistently got worse
imy9 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I have said this before but I would think the best thing is for Rovers and Sam to part ways at the end of the season, unless ofcourse our style of play changes drastically, depends on how much money there is to invest in the side if it is a few million then Sam is the best person for job. I think MON is a top manager and led Villa to 6th how many times? Where are they now after his gone?
benhben Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I think MON is a top manager and led Villa to 6th how many times? Where are they now after his gone? I never understand why people slag off O-neil? Worked wonders with Leicester and turned Vila into a top 6 side, with an exciting attacking line up.
SamTheShrew Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 O'neill is vastly overrated - ask any Villa fan. pretty much as one-dimensional tactics wise as our genius Big Sam
Gav Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Nobody better out there at the moment, O'Neil wouldn't come so thats a non starter. Whilst the buck stops with the manager, the players need to take a long hard look at themselves also, its 1 good game and 3 bad, not sure thats all the managers fault. I'd give him a few quid in January and see if things improve, sacking him could cost us our transfer budget and we need that to freshen things up. Think I need a lie down after writing that......
PAFELL Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 To those calling for sam`s head,we are 1 win off 7th place having spent not ONE SINGLE PENNY in the summer! Get a grip ffs! I won't say that I am calling for his head. what I am saying is that if the Venky's do want to get rid of him, he has given them the excuse to do so today. Rovers surrendered today, they lay down. This is not the first time this has happened. Questions have to be asked. If the Venky's chose to sack Sam, I wouldn't complain - even if they kept him for a little while longer, again I wouldn't complain. To me it is a hard one to call. I am neither for or against Sam, but what is best for Rovers. With the new owners coming in, I cannot help thinking a fresh start all round may be the best option. But then Sam has not had a chance to improve the squad via the transfer market as he hasn't had any funds. The premier league this season is the most open I can remember it ever been - it is what football supporters want - but it comes with its own dangers, Rovers could slip down.
PAFELL Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 O'neill is vastly overrated - ask any Villa fan. pretty much as one-dimensional tactics wise as our genius Big Sam O'neill's record at villa was 5 August 2006 to 9 August 2010 Games 190, won 80, drew 60 lost 50 games that is a 42.11 % win rate. Not a bad recorded, nor brilliant. But he did have dosh to spend.
tashor Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Abbyzzzzzz SOOOOOOOO RITYE........ Sack LARDARSE and give Gaz from the academy the managrs job and promote KIDS with junior jonesey moris handly ETC ETC.. couldnt do worse than the old SHYYTEE Id prefer to go down PLAYING WITH PRIDE tha stay up with FATSAM
Zulu Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 preferably one of those names being owen coyle, if anyone. the guy has proven he can keep a team competitive in the prem league playing good football, twice now. Also he has form for jumping ship halfway through a season to a rival, for greener grass. If venkys are really being coy about the funds available in jan and subsequent seasons then im sure he'd be tempted. I'll have a pint of what sweet's been drinking.
koi Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I don't like him, never have, never will. I don't want him at the club but the problem really is who do you replace him with during the season?
sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I won't say that I am calling for his head. what I am saying is that if the Venky's do want to get rid of him, he has given them the excuse to do so today. But then Sam has not had a chance to improve the squad via the transfer market as he hasn't had any funds. To play devils advocate for a moment. It could be argued he had £6 million to spend on a striker, who looks as if he isnt able to play in the managers system/isn't good enough... Whilst with half that amount of money Hughes was able to bring in a striker on 2 seperate occasions who both managed to score 20 goals in a season. Souness with just over that amount was able to bring in cole who managed 13 goals in 20 games but also failed with Grabbi, however the inspirational signing of stead wh'os goals (6 in 13) helped us stay up that season, more than made up for the flop that was grabbi - in my opinion. So argubably on that count, Allardyce has failed were other previous managers have succeeded.
sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I'll have a pint of what sweet's been drinking. So what - if venkys are prepared to back us with more money than they are letting on - you dont think coyle would be tempted? What is your reasoning behind that... fair enough, bolton have made a good start, but they sure dont have the funds to seriously back the manager. If you re-read my post, I only said he would possbily be interested if venkys were prepared to back the club with serious cash.
