imy9 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Just think with the money Alex ferguson bought Peter s for 400k and cantina for 1.3 million so in that sense Hughes did not do that much with the money he had... Different times mate the pl has changed dramatically in the last 3 years, it's wring to compare the eras of Hughes and Sam

darwenblueswearehere Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I've never been a lover of BFS or his tactics. I think he's too arrogant and one dimensional. However, and I don't know whether this is a positive thing or not, he did look utterly shellshocked after the game. On balance I would give him to the end of this season and reassess then.
Zulu Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 So what - if venkys are prepared to back us with more money than they are letting on - you dont think coyle would be tempted? What is your reasoning behind that... fair enough, bolton have made a good start, but they sure dont have the funds to seriously back the manager. If you re-read my post, I only said he would possbily be interested if venkys were prepared to back the club with serious cash. There's not a cat in hell's chance of Coyle leaving Bolton to join Blackburn. He'll not stay at Bolton for ever, I'm sure a "big" club will come calling in the next two years - but he won't be joining you. I don't think O'Neil will come your way either - but that's not a big deal imho. He's vastly overrated. Did nowt at Leicester or Villa as far as I'm concerned. There's not a lot wrong with Allardyce - and you won't replace him with a better manager given your resources - even added chicken-fuelled resources.
Hughesy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 O'Neill is so over-rated, I dislike him & he is dull as a person too....Infact I would HATE him to be the manager. Going off what he's done...If Sam goes, Id like Holloway
Amo Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 O'Neill is so over-rated, I dislike him & he is dull as a person too....Infact I would HATE him to be the manager. Going off what he's done...If Sam goes, Id like Holloway Says the guy who was always downplaying Blackpool's football?
Zulu Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 O'Neill is so over-rated, I dislike him & he is dull as a person too....Infact I would HATE him to be the manager. Going off what he's done...If Sam goes, Id like Holloway I don't live too far from Leicester. Their fans still refer to him as Ian Hollowhead - and there's a reason for that.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I don't live too far from Leicester. Their fans still refer to him as Ian Hollowhead - and there's a reason for that. Same guy was within an minute or two of getting 3 pts off your lot at the breeze block today.
Steve Moss Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Why is everybody pro MO'N now? I work with many Villa fans who say that his football was boring, counter attacking, defensive, long ball football!!! The team played badly today and it's the team at FAULT NOT THE MANAGER!!! I say let's back the manager with some finances to bring in three or four players. A new left back, right winger, midfield playmaker and a TOP QUALITY STRIKER. We have had one bad result and look at people calling for BS to be sacked. We have taken 9 points from 15. Be beaten at OT and WHL, which you would expect tbh, but we beaten Wigan, Newcastle and Villa. MON would be bad for the Rovers. With financial backing he's slightly above average. With little or no backing he'd be a disaster. I've never been a lover of BFS or his tactics. I think he's too arrogant and one dimensional. However, and I don't know whether this is a positive thing or not, he did look utterly shellshocked after the game. On balance I would give him to the end of this season and reassess then. I think this is more than fair. Sam did not set out to lose today. Something (or combination of things) happened. He needs to figure it out and make sure it never happens again. O'Neill is so over-rated, I dislike him & he is dull as a person too....Infact I would HATE him to be the manager. Going off what he's done...If Sam goes, Id like Holloway Ditto.
47er Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Be careful what we wish for? Even my pregnant guppy could pick a team to get beat by 7!....the expert ..legend...logging off now and trying to calm down...hope these chest pains are heartburn..I am so angry to see a rovers team concede 7! You can't appear on here every weekend we lose calling for the manager's head. Not and have any credibility. Before this we had won 3 out of the last 4 games. The result today was awful but I always felt the "real" United was going to come through sometime soon. The answer to our problems is for the manager to sit down with the owners to explain our weaknesses, tell them what's required and negotiate as much cash for January and the summer as he can get. His future and ours should not be decided on the basis of a defeat at Old Trafford , however embarrassing it was. We won't be the only side to cop a heavy defeat there. Lets not react on a week to week basis or we will be in crisis forever.
thenodrog Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 preferably one of those names being owen coyle, if anyone. the guy has proven he can keep a team competitive in the prem league playing good football, twice now. Also he has form for jumping ship halfway through a season to a rival, for greener grass. If venkys are really being coy about the funds available in jan and subsequent seasons then im sure he'd be tempted. Live by the sword and you'll die by the sword too.
CWB Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 32 years a season ticket holder, never been as embarrassed after such a gutless display, the clown needs to buck his ideas up; unless he thought a good hiding off manure would motivate the owners to give him some cash. Pathetic!
thenodrog Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Coyle wouldn't come here and with good reason he's comfortable there. Hughes or moyes may be tempted at present though. Tom fine managers though they both are li'l ol spend nowt BRFC are currently above em!! So on what basis do you want to swap? what would be the benefit?
Backroom Tom Posted November 27, 2010 Backroom Posted November 27, 2010 Tom fine managers though they both are li'l ol spend nowt BRFC are currently above em!! So on what basis do you want to swap? what would be the benefit? You misunderstand me, if you look a page or two back I don't want to swap. We are 13th. Sam has to be given at least through December before anything is even considered for me.
broadsword Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 No point sacking him just before the transfer window. I was under the impression his contract ends next June. Might as well wait until then, unless things get perilous. Shocking under-investment excepted, does Sam's reputed approach of writing certain games off as unwinnable lead us to these occasional tubbings? Would a manager really write a game off? I can't believe it, certainly i wouldn't want the manager of my club to do that.
thenodrog Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 NONE OF THESE PEOPLE WERE SAYING THE BS SHOULD BE SACKED AFTER WE BEATEN VILLA WHERE YOU??? Or NUFC away. The Mancs have turned over a big flat stone on here it seems.
philo Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 if big sam were to go my short list zola ray wilkins o'neil strancen keegan or ex blackburn players shearer short sutton
BRFC1995 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 if big sam were to go my short list zola ray wilkins o'neil strancen keegan or ex blackburn players shearer short sutton Berg(not because of any manergerial achievements more just because he's a legend here, in management currently and it'd be a dream if he could pull it off) or ketsbaia(wiki'd his manergerial stats = awesome manager) Sams done just enough to keep us going and no more, eternally grateful he rescued an already submerged ship after ince but his record even without wads of cash has'nt exactly set the bar high. Yet again his record of sending teams out to concede second half only became more impressive, any passion he had for this job went 6 months ago, paid handsomely but looks and acts like his dog died in every interview and plays up the fact we are a small club at every oppurtunitie only strengthening that mind set in everyone listening.....honestly don't think there is a positive bone in the mans body. Kill to have Holloway at this minute positivity personified.
Hughesy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Says the guy who was always downplaying Blackpool's football? But we are not blackpool...we are not a team who isnt established in the league...and we havent come up with probably the weakest team in the premier league history.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 or ex blackburn players shearer short sutton All this talk of Sam being sacked after this defeat is stupid,we are all cheesed off with todays debacle but please.....GET A GRIP!
Plastic Head Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 if big sam were to go my short list zola ray wilkins - Relegation o'neil - Won't come strancen - Definate relegation keegan - Entertaining relegation or ex blackburn players shearer - Won't come short - Best of the list but scary sutton - relegation Sam will stay for this season at least. After that I would be tempted to go with Holly at the moment.

TugaysMarlboro Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I can't see any sign of Sam getting sacked or resigning in the imminent future. However, if I could pick a manager, it'd probably be Di Matteo.
jim mk2 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 An admittedly bad defeat coming after 3 wins in 4 games and a cracking performance against Villa and people are calling for the manager's head ? Bonkers.
Darwen Rover Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 The question we gotta ask is simple for me: Guaranteed premiership c. 9-12th position and average to poor football = big Sam Flirting with relegation potentially but better more adventurous football = holloway
BuckyRover Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I wouldn't mind taking a punt on Di Matteo if Venky's were not to renew Sam's contract.
