Hughesy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Diouf has rather strangely not written off leaving Rovers: http://www.setanta.com/Uk/Articles/Footbal...ure/gnid-57088/ Unlikely - he did a good job for us last season and added some balance and grit to our team when we needed it - Job done! If he was to move on, Sam would replace him with Emerton id imagine.

There was no doubt that he had a positive impact on our season - and was probably one of the reasons we stayed up. However - he does seem to have lost the ability to beat a man - and at times his sometimes aggresive nature seemed a liaibility. If we cashed in to the tune of approx £3m - I wouldn't be too disappointed.
Ewood and I Would Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Diouf has rather strangely not written off leaving Rovers: http://www.setanta.com/Uk/Articles/Footbal...ure/gnid-57088/ I just think he is commenting on the nature of football (and how little contracts actually mean nowadays) rather than wanting out. One thing I did find funny though is how he kinda implies he's better than Drogba based on boos
Hughesy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Interesting that Diouf is already doing his badges - unlike a certain Mr Ince. Didnt read the article earlier - but it looks like he is happy at the moment and isnt considering leaving. He is just being realistic when he says our manager is ambitious and wants a good team (i.e. he could replace diouf). Like David said - its a tough one - il be happy if he stays, however for good money he could as easily go. Until we have a replacement however, he stays for me!
herbergeehh Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Checking the newsnow.co.uk site, I get the impression Santa Cruz is bound for City, but that does't wash with what Nicko is saying about Forlan being their target. Any movement, Nicko? Gotta get some action now.
EwoodGlory Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 It would make sense that he is their 'fall-back' option which they could get later on in the summer, if other targets fail. EDIT: I wonder if a 1 year loan deal for Jo has been discussed as part of the deal?
Majiball Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 If we want to look at left midfielders based in France who are available and worth a gamble then we should look at Obertan at Bordeaux. He's vying for a move away and after being loaned out in January is probably still surplus to requirements in a very talented Bordeaux midfield. He's a central midfielder who has impressed out wide. 20 years old, tall, quick, two-footed, creative and a good dribbler. He's a player we should look at. Good shout eddie. Probably that trip to Dubai that he had to cancel when he took the job?! As for Keith Andrews - £4m+ and we should sell him. Sam went to Dubai at the tail end of the season in an international break. If someone bids £4M for keith andrews, I'd assume we were the victim of some Jeremy beadle like show.
mellison24 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Anybody have any idea why Bill Kenwright (Everton chairman) was at Ewood today? I saw him enter the JW stand with his car parked outside. (Me and a mate had just been in the shop).
1864roverite Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 He probably went for a Heathcotes Special and a pint
Ossydave Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 If Kenwright was at Ewood maybe he's helping to prepare for the dingle pantomine when the clowns come to town, being a theatrical producer and all that.
callumrovers Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Did anyone see Marcus Berg play for Sweden under 21's? He looks quality! Replacement for derbyshire?

AggyBlue Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Something to do with Van der Meyde? Hopefully with a 'Stay well clear' message
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Doubt he'd travel all the way to Blackburn to discuss Van Der Meyde.
BRFC1995 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 if they made the trip i'd presume they are after one of ours........warnock???matty????????
Backroom Tom Posted June 16, 2009 Backroom Posted June 16, 2009 As long as they don't want Samba I'd be happy, I could see warnock at Everton to be honest.
gumboots Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 if they made the trip i'd presume they are after one of ours........warnock???matty???????? Or he could be popping in to see his friend JW because he happens to be in the area. there must be hundreds of reasons why he, if it was him, could be at Ewood. well, perhaps hundreds is an exaggeration but several.

callumrovers Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 no way on earth he comes cheap They only paid 2.5 million euros for him I recon we can get him for 4 million Did Ollson play in the game? Ollson wasnt even on the bench

Macus Berg You probably said the same about Maceo Rigters, look how he turned out
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Manchester City Very Close To Deal For Blackburn Rovers Striker Roque Santa Cruz - http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009...lackburn-rovers
Lathund Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 They only paid 2.5 million euros for him I recon we can get him for 4 million Firstly he was signed from a Swedish team, they don't have the muscle to get true market value. And since that move he's scored 38 in 61 games (According to Wiki), he's made his debut, and scored, for the national team, and is wanted by all the big clubs in Holland. As well as some abroad, IIRC it was Lazio who were showing the most interest. Now, if you were in Groningen's shoes, would you sell him for £4m? I think not. You probably said the same about Maceo Rigters, look how he turned out Awesome. Yet another member of the "In the past we signed another player who has one or two things in common with a guy we're looking at now and he didn't turn out well, therefore this guy must be crap too"-brigade. (That brigade is unlikely to ever get far, hard to print that on a t-shirt...). Not saying he'll be a success, but in league play, Berg's goals:games ratio is about EIGHT times higher than Rigters. I wouldn't want David Silva if he was offered to us on a free btw, we all know how well Javi de Pedro turned out!
