Craigman Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I thought we were only allowed 2 domestic loans a season, so one has already been taken up with Diouf.

nicko Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 By the way... Charlie Adam considering appeal to get his contract cancelled Very unlikely.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Nicko, any news on where Roberts might be going in January? Any clubs showing an interest?
nicko Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 Nicko, any news on where Roberts might be going in January? Any clubs showing an interest? The wages are still a big issue for anyone in the Championship - and Rovers would be as well keeping him as selling him cheap. I am sure some will try for him, but it would be no shock if he played out his contract at Ewood.
koi Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 The 'tics I have to converse with are pretty confident Roberts is heading their way come January.
Mr. E Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 why, of all the players on planet Earth, are we talking about the two players who's decision to leave Rovers in the dirt and join our (at the time) league table rivals almost got us relegated? Why, after their careers took a nose dive, justly punishing them for their arrogance (or "ambition" as some still call it), would some people be so desperate to reward them with new contracts? We would become the biggest charity on the planet.

Mr. E Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 The phrase "cutting off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind. It would be a very stupid thing to come to mind. Are Bentley and Santa Cruz our only options? Are we doomed without them? They're not even good players anymore ffs! If they were, they wouldn't be currently serving as ball boys for their clubs (not sure how fit is Cruz for that either). It would take nothing short of a miracle for them to recapture their form back at Rovers. And I can't think of two players least deserving of a second chance.
The Rover of Finland Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 If Roque is available for £4M we should concider it. He was great here one season but his other side was seen too. He was crock more than half season and he wanted out. If there is a better striker available for a fee that leaves us funds for midfielder we should avoid RSC. If the choice is between Carew and Roque Rovers should go for Roque. If there is either of them coming Roberts shouldn´t go. He is usually fit.
Backroom Tom Posted November 25, 2010 Backroom Posted November 25, 2010 I dont care how big an idiot bentley is he'd be top of my list if he was at a reasonable price. Perfect Dunny replacement for me
TimmyJimmy Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 RSC had a bad attitude towards the end, agreed, but didn't Bentley? I have only a half memory of this but wasn't he sent back from pre season training because he was virtually on strike? Both RSC and Bentley have extreme talent, unfortunately there's no disguising it that RSC is terminally crocked and Bentley's ego and love of London would see Hell freeze over before we saw him back at Ewood. Personally, I'd love to see Bentley back here on our books and RSC on loan even though they both behaved like nobs. It's not going to happen though is it. Ireland, talented but no thanks, rubbish against us and way to strange for our dressing room.
chris Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Ireland, talented but no thanks, rubbish against us and way to strange for our dressing room. I think Sam is the sort of Manager that can turn a under performing Ireland into a star again. he has good man management skills. I defo would like to see him here, even if he doesn't sell any shirts because he's ugly.

They both joined bigger clubs than us and we were handsomely rewarded for it (£35m for the pair of them). Did you take issue with Robbie Savage orchestrating his move from Brum to here? Double standards and all that. I agree that Santa Cruz having a prolific, injury-free season would be a miracle, which is exactly why I DON'T want us to sign him. Bentley, on the otherhand, doesn't have that problem and he's in the peak-age of his career. I can't see him wanting to come back here, though. I expect he'll end up at Fulham, Everton, Villa, someone like that.
Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley was pretty much driven out of the club by Ince, if I heard correctly. However, despite wanting to go away, I dont recall him making a public mockery of the club at any point.

MeanGreenMachine Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Hang on, people are moaning about Bentley because he wanted to join a side with bigger ambitions. Last night Spurs played a champions league game. Sure he might not be playing much football but the motives were he wanted to improve himself. It doesnt work out all the time. Bentley for me is still the best crosser in England and would welcome him back with open arms.

However, despite wanting to go away, I dont recall him making a public mockery of the club at any point. R He announced his intention to leave for London to a Sky reporter while away on an England training camp. He was drunk at the time. So yes, public mockery. I don't recall Ince forcing him out, I thought they had a run in after he had already said he was leaving. Iirc (I could be completely wrong). I would still love him back though.
broadsword Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I thought it was Archie Knox telling him to do extra press-up's cos he had his hands on his hips? There was some sort of row?

Welcome him back, show him true support, and enjoy him eat some humble pie while crossing to Kalinic mk2
BuckyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I thought it was Archie Knox telling him to do extra press-up's cos he had his hands on his hips? There was some sort of row? I thought that was after he had said he was going. He was behaving like some employees do on their notice period. Badly. Like I said though, can't really remember.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Santa Cruz - No Bentley - Yes Carew - No Ngog - No, no, no Ireland - Mm, depends. Caciedo - Yes.
Backroom Tom Posted November 25, 2010 Backroom Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley disrepected us but in honesty he made more of a mockery of himself with that interview.
1864roverite Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley announced top the football world his intention to leave whilst drunk at the buddah note sport, a haunt owned and habited by a number of premier league footballers. Saying that I would have him back even if he acted like a spoiled brat. RSC ? Yes the same if he could stay fit.
hermitstool Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley is a creative talent but I think Sam will be looking for someone with a bit of blistering pace which we are very much lacking in both midfield and up front. A couple of years ago Bentley was the 7th (I think) fastest player in th league- surprising i know.
