Oh dear the most likely signing at the moment looks to be Samba to Villa.

I know theres still 3 weeks left in the window but anyone get the feeling we may make

a couple panic signings at the end of the window just to save face? I do hope im wrong

but with Keane going to Brum, and Becks and Ronnie never really realistic Venkys and Kean

could be be left looking very silly!(even more than they do now)

Would be very nice but it would basically relegate West Ham, wont happen!

That's a good enough reason to buy in itself...love to see the hammers relegated!!

If it is true ronaldinho has signed for gremio, then surely over the next few days we should be seeing rovers go all out for adams.

Just a thought, who would people prefer in a choice between adams and kranjcar as the midfeild playmaker in our team?As i'm personally quite shocked that he isn't on our list of players we're supposedly after, considering he is definitely available this january.

After watching Adam's terrific performance last night I'd go fo him personally.

Couldn't agree more. Duff was a fantastic servant to Rovers and I was proud as punch when he scored for Chelsea at the Nou Camp (although I seem to remember it was a flukey goal). I'll also never forget THAT goal away at Birmingham in our promotion season.

He'd be a great signing for us however I would like us to sign a central midfielder before him as that is the area where we really struggle.

I don't post often but enjoy reading everyone's contributions. My view is that Venky's have little money and signing someone like Ronaldinho/Beckham will never happen. They are just doing this for PR reasons, perhaps for Rovers but more likely for their own business.

Totally agree about Duff - fantastic servant - and his final 6 months at Rovers were the best wing play I have ever seen at Rovers - including visting players like Ronaldo (and possibly ever will).

I will reserve judgement on Venky's - I agree they are doing it for PR reasons - but I believe they see this as mutually beneficial to the Venky and Rovers "brands". Whether there is genuine money behind this - only they know - and we are only likely to find out when Rovers figures are issued next year. I just hope and pray they have the money - and they aren't gambling on Rovers increasing their revenue to cover the cost of all these proposed transfers.

I don't want to moan but I think we're being taken for a ride. Paul hit the nail on the head earlier. I appreciate what nicko does on here but all this rubbish is exactly what he wants to see, that's his job! When Venkys came in I thought it would be a stable 15 year plan with security, and building slowly etc How wrong we were.

Speak for yourself, I haven't been happy from day one. People believed the LT report on how much they were worth but they mis-calculated it, I corrected them via email and they then pulled the article.

Ahsan Ali Syed were hung out to dry by many on here for not having having internet history and yet every critism labled against them could have been thrown at Venky's. Not on Wikipedia (before they bought us), not know by Forbes, hardly any stories about them (again before they bought us) but people seemed to "trust the trust".

The only thing Venky's have proved so far is they can at least borrow the money to buy us. £40-£50m is easily borrowed by any moderately successful company

'Marquee' players who never will come, contradictive statements left, right and centre, fake Twitter pages......WHAT A F'KIN FARCE!!

Will someone in the name of dear God tell these people to get the PR sorted out. When we didn't have a pot to p1ss in during the 80's our business was conducted with more respect and decorum than this shambles.

The red top rags are having a field day at our expense. <_<

They can forget analysing where the PR went wrong just for now, as there is only one way they can make it better.

Spend some bloody money on decent players. Quick.

Best PR stunt they could possibly have.

When Venkys came in I thought it would be a stable 15 year plan with security, and building slowly etc How wrong we were. Every time I see that womans face I want to punch a wall.

If you listen to Kean - I believe there is a plan. When he mentions transfer targets - he refers to development players - I believe they are looking to buy young talent (the owners already said they would like to follow the Arsenal model). He is also looking to stabalise the club by purchasing more established players like RSC, Warnock, Duff etc. The signing of Ronaldinho was a statement of intent - which I presume was to raise our profile to increase crowds, sponsorship and our ability to attract better players in the future.

If I am totally honest - other than the inept handling of the English media and transfer necogiations - I would follow this model myself if in charge. It isn't too different from the approach that Jack took.

Though people seem to think that Kean is in the Venky's pocket - I think you need to listen to his interviews - he recognises the communication problems - and is very open about it. But he is being pro-active and offering to help guide them.

Time for all Rovers fans to be pro-active - get down to Ewood and cheer on the lads. On that note I will now set off myself - come on you blues :rover:

Yes you are! I think you'd probably agree the following but perhaps because of your employment can't do so publicly. I don't have a problem with that but keep in mind your job is to write stories which will sell newspapers. My reading is that Nicko would sell more papers by mocking us like everyone else My only concern is my football club. So here is what I feel you are missing, and this is a general discussion which should be elsewhere:

  1. Venky's have contradicted themselves at every stage and it could even be argued misled the support, trust and Rothschild No argument, but there are three of them that can only be making things even more muddled
  2. If we have £20m plus for Ronaldhino (he probably would have cost double in reality) why not put that money into building a complete team and not one man, who probably would prefer to be in Brazil Because they would never get their 20 million back that way. Lifting us from 15th to 12th isn't going to sell any shirts, chickens or even curry at Ewood
  3. The players we are being linked with are questionable - Duff, RSC, Warnock, Bentley for example - why do we want to bring back players who left us because they thought they could do better elsewhere? They've walked away once because they believed they were bigger than BRFC suddenly we're good enough for them? In my view most players who return to previous clubs are a disappointment I think the fact that it's the Jan window is driving some of this, but you are perhaps sounding a tad demanding. Would you prefer last January's haul of Basturk and Linganzi?. There are notable exceptions, Colin Hendry for example and great examples of disappointments - Dunny
  4. Charlie Adam - excellent. No problem with that one
  5. In general WTF is going on at Ewood? No idea
  6. JW / TF our two most senior and trusted employees appear to be being sidelined It is abundantly clear that JW's role is redundant and would have been under any new ownership. That job was created because we had an absentee landlord, and now we don't. We need someone there to run a 250 person set-up - an MD, which we already have. We don't need, in my view, an MD together with an executive chairman who isn't part of the ownership. Harsh, but this is what happens with takeovers
  7. Our owners know nothing about football and are only interested in self-publicity Do any owners know anything about football? And I disagree - they are interested in publicity for their business, which to my mind is the only business model that can sustain us long-term at this level. If it was self-publicity, I'm sure that sh@gging Paris Hilton would have cost less than 40 million
  8. What is the role of Kentaro? Don't know and don't really care. This is football where agents turn up to meetings accompanied by Britain's most notorious gangster and managers' sons magically have all the skillstes to become agents. At least Kentaro are a proper company
  9. If it all goes wrong who is going to pay? Who was going to pay before?

I realise you probably categorise me as a moaner. Please appreciate I am not trying to criticise you, but ultimately you are a journalist who is employed to help sell papers. If supporting Venkys / Kentaro / Kean in The Mirror helps you gain their trust you may be rewarded with exclusives etc. etc. That's fine, it's how the world works but please give me some credit for appreciating a journalist may not be able to express his personal views on any given subject. You don't have to answer that.

So the above is what I think you are missing, or perhaps chose to ignore. It's about more than a lot of excitment during the transfer window. (I shall be delighted if we get players and start playing) It's all about our football club in which I have a deep emotional investment. It's about how am I going to explain to my lad, who has learning difficulties, why we are no longer in the PL, because he'd be devastated and simply would not understand. OTH he'd be delighted if Beckham came to Ewood.

This is about so much more than a big name signing. You support a small team, I forget which and should understand all of this. Sorry if it makes no sense but it is the bottom line for many of us.

FYI, I am neither pro nor anti Venkys. Let's see who we buy and how the rookie manager does.

Just heard on SSN that Aston Villa have made a enquiry for Samba and if a deal can be reached Rovers are interested in Curtis Davies in exchange..

I trust we have told them what to do with Curtis Davies. Although some will be daft enough to consider it a good idea :glare:

I'm playing wait and see too...some people have a serious vested interest in seeing this turn into a car-crash and I'm stuggling to understand why. So far, my main gripe has been that I agree the sacking of Allardyce was too impetuous but I'd have got shut at the end of the season anyway so I'll live with that if we get 3-4 good signings in,stay up and then push on next season I'm still fairly chilled.

Some of you need to get a grip, far too quick to get wrapped up in ollective negative hysteria like a bunch of psychotic lemmings.

I'd have him + cash mum,or better still,Ireland and cash...or..err Davies + Ireland..getting confused now.

Samba wants to go,but let's make it on our terms.Anyhow, with a bit of luck,Villa won't be his only suitors so we'll have several cash/player options.

I don't see it as particularly Nicko's job to editorialise. He's not writing long form articles on the goings on at the club here. Just the craic as he sees it with a heavy bent on transfers because that's his specialist subject. So he happens to like Kean and thinks a few people on here are a bit too quick with their pitchforks and conspiracy theories. I would happen to agree! Not the biggest crime in the world. I don't think that makes either of us Venky's fanboys.

The idea behind paying £20m for Ronaldinho is because it gives the club and Venky's the sort of exposure that spending the same money on four other players doesn't. In that way, the theory is it will help pay for itself and raise the profile of the club. Whether you agree with that or think it won't work, it's not difficult to see the difference between the two.

I would agree however, that several of our transfer targets are questionable and there is too much of a focus of creating a Blackburn Rovers Alumini XI. If we wind up with just a couple of the ex players mentioned in February, I for one will be disappointed. Adam and a couple of fresh faces, then we've had a good window.

I realised the other day that my life is better when I am banned from this site.

Many are EXTREME in their opinions and they stick to those regardless.

SEVEN MILLION POUNDS FOR ROBBIE KEANE!!!!????

Ahem... That's what Birmingham are paying.

That was quite a good one to avoid. Ridiculous price!

So how much for Bents then? I bet they are asking crazy money.
