just chucking names around here, but what about Tim Cahill? Massively popular player around Asia region & also a little bit good!

Pienaar for £3m makes sense I think!! Whether we could pursuade him to come im not sure, but worth a try.

Also Clint Dempsey impresses whenever I've seen him...

Cahill is decent but Everton would never sell, not to Rovers anyway. Not sure about Dempsey, dont think he is any better than what we have already.

Will be interesting to see the links in the tabloids tomorrow, no doubt Nicko will have a few surprises in store.

In the Sunday People:

Stephen Warnock is ready to rejoin Blackburn Rovers as part of a swap deal.

Aston Villa left-back Warnock has been dropped by Gerard Houllier and made a scapegoat for recent results – and Rovers boss Steve Kean is interested in taking him AND team-mate James Collins in exchange for the unsettled Chris Samba.

Villa have been trying to sign 6ft 4in Samba but have not matched Blackburn’s valuation.

The clubs were trying to sort out a cash adjustment on top of Welsh international Collins but Warnock’s availability interests Kean.

Rovers’ advantage is that Villa still owe them an instalment on the England international defender.

Samba rocked the Rovers boat when Kean took over after Sam Allardyce was sacked, but insiders reveal he has been angling for a move all season.

Kean is still keen on Blackpool skipper Charlie Adam and is waiting for Manchester City to agree that former Rover Roque Santa Cruz can go on loan. A third ex-Blackburn player, Damien Duff, is unlikely to be sold by Fulham.

Rovers, though, will have to move fast if they want to snap up 16-year-old Crewe teenager Nick Powell, as the England youth striker is also interesting Arsenal.

If Samba really wants to go then i dont think that Warnock and Collins in is such a bad deal.

that's half Villa's defence. Just remind me where they are in the league. I know we will need to bring in a replacement if Samba leaves and we need an extra left back especially if Givet is out for a while, but why strengthen them at our expense. Warnock is a liability and I'm not impressed with the idea of Collins to replace Samba who is very important to our team.

Please don't copy and paste the article

The Villa thing is all academic if Philipl has got it right about Samba not wanting to go there. Who would when there are rumours that Houllier has 'lost the dressing room'.

Villa want Samba. Samba wants a move. The two-for-one swap is the latest idea of those involved in it. Swaps are always difficult, that one is even harder.

But it won't go away.

I don't think Samba has had a change of heart. Rumours of a new contract offer were flying around - checked it and that has been denied.

There is another Rovers story in People tomorrow btw.

OF COURSE IT IS !

An absolutely stupid decision done by a very naive manager supported by a bunch of idiots if it actually happens. Steven Warnock is one of the worst defenders in the premiership and Collins is just a bog standard defender = no return.

Come on Rovers, must do better than this, if we are to achieve the targets set out by Venky's

The line in the Traore to Newcastle story?

"NEWCASTLE are in the hunt for a striker who will dwarf Andy Carroll – 6ft 8in Ivory Coast star Lacina Traore.

While Toon insist they will keep hold of England powerhouse Carroll, they want to bring in Traore from Romanian champions CFR Cluj.

Sam Allardyce was poised to sign Traore, 20, for Blackburn only to be sacked before the deal could be finalised."

What you seem to have trouble wrapping your mind around is that if the player wants to leave then the management staff need to make the best of a bad situation.

The player has ALL the power in this situation.

Big Chris obviously wants a BIG payday. Im not talking weekly wage, he wouldnt get much more than what he is on now, but he would get a nice chunk as a sign on fee from his new clubs.

Cheers Nicko for the depressing news, just hope none of it comes true.

Kean has also come under attack because his agents are the advisers to the Indian group. However, his contract negotiations will be carried out with current Rovers chairman John Williams.

Best thing I have read for weeks, at least JW seems to be getting more involved than he was which can only be good for Rovers.

So why doesnt the club just give him his big pay day or is it they dont have any money so they need to sell him to get some.

Absolutely sick and tired of Rovers fans falling for the line that Samba wants out and the media continually printing it for their friends.

You along with others are accepting Rovers as a selling club if they decide to SELL or SWAP the team captain.

Another thing are you a season ticket holder at Rovers ?
