I stand correction. Just what we heard at the game.

From the sound of it, it was a reasonable assumption to make at the time. The other lad broke his leg but Givet just has a few bruises!

Givet is fine - the QPR lad broke his in 2 places.

More than anything we need a central midfielder....VERY interesting that Adam didnt play.

Hope Bolton dont get Wheater either!!

Not really - Holloway always said he'd rest most of his first team.

I don't think we do need a left back as priority. Givet is steady (less mistakes than Warnock) and hard (who can forget his performance at The Turf) and the perfect foil for a rampaging left winger like Olsson. Yes, he does get taken to the cleaners occasionally but tell me a PL full back who doesn't

Adam didn't play because Holloway said yesterday that he wasn't going to play a strong side because he knew that Blackpool weren't going to win the FA Cup.

So it had nothing to do with keeping as much Value in a player as possible?? Yeah ok!

Hughesey they didnt play ANY first team players so we can't read too much into it.

Maybe they're gonna sell their first 11 :D. Anyway, Blackpool play Liverpool on Wednesday and I hope he plays then...he's in my fantasty football team

I like Givet but I have to disagree. He makes a number of mistakes but unlike Warnock he doesn't have the pace to recover. He has had a dip in form this season. Maybe because he's a little bit of a partyboy. I have it from a very good source (eye witness) that he spends a lot of time in the casino in Manchester. Can't remember which one but my friend pulled a bit of an allnighter there and Givet was there the whole time. Sees him there a lot of the times he goes. Explains lacklustre performances as gambling and late nights hardly help.

I think a left back has to be a big priority, if not to just challenge Givet.

So if Villa want to give us Collins for Samba what was the point in them bringing him on in the 91st minute in a cup tie that they were 3-1 up in?

2-1 and under heavy pressure, pretty simple.

My family are big Villa fans and they don't rate him as highly as non-Villa fans. Infact they like Dunne more than Collins.

It's the same with MGP. He was criticised for some poor performances for quite a few seasons yet fans who don't support Rovers always consider him one of our best players.

I wouldn't want him at Rovers as a replacement for Samba. I'd rather keep Samba until the end of the season (if possible) and then see Jones given a good run at centre back next season (assuming Samba goes in the summer).

Can't say I've been impressed with Collins at any club he's been at. He's a Steady Eddie type of player but nothing outstanding, bottom 5 of the Prem, top 5 of the Championship level. If he was at Rovers now and Jones was still fit he'd be fifth in line at centre half behind Samba, Jones, Nelsen and Givet. That's the reality of the situation. If we let Samba go ANYWHERE in this window we want our heads examining !

I understand that Samba does not want to go to Villa so this one is effectively dead.

I sincerely hope that you are right!

onto part 3 of the transfer window thread already, and we havent even made a bid for anyone as yet. I think that shows how much tosh has been written so far, and I am probally guilty of that a few times.

Hopefully Samba stays until at least the summer.

Not expecting to much to happen uuntil the end of next week, so will see you all then.

Sadly I have to stress that going to Villa is dead as far as I understand but leaving Rovers if a Big 4 and two halves come in for him must still be a risk.

Come in Joey Barton we've got a spot for you 'lad' :D

Wouldnt mind seeing Duffer back, but not Cruz he'd be a mistake.
