imy9 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 You've been spouting crap for months--much of it in bold. The fact is, Kean had your support and that of others for too long. You obviously have to distance yourself from all that now given the s*** he's dropped us in. We're now onto petty insults? "In your opinion Kean and others have had my support for too long" that sounds better, as for a moment I thought I was in Stalin's Russia. I don't have to distance myself from anything, I am still here, my posts are there in the public domain. A simple line repeated for you again (I know you need repetition). "If you are going to mention people at least have the decency to get your facts straight next time"

chaddyrovers Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 "We will keep the current management team in place." "We are happy with John Williams." "We are not interested in Brazilian Ronnie, Yes we are, No we are not, yes we are." and so on.... They simply do not have the finances to mount a comeback to the Premiership. Don't forget they were planning to spend £5m a transfer window at the most to get us into the Champions League. Do you really think that they are going to invest huge sums to get us promoted and then invest again to get us into the European spots again? They don't have the capital. The Walker family could buy and sell Venkys in a heartbeat, they simply do not have the cash. You have to think about all this logically, Blackburn Rovers are an investment to them and nothing else, they do not feel anything for the club, we are a plaything to get the Venkys name about. Championship games are not shown all over the world like Premier League games are. Having a club in the Championship has no benefit for them whatsoever. Kean is still in a job for the same reason that we currently don't have a chairman, pennies. On this board I have often heard 'Venkys are shrewd business people, surely.' I believe they are, they realise that they were duped into an investment that was far bigger than they could handle and through poor advice made it even more difficult for themselves. However, they can be pleased that many people in the West who had never heard of them, now know exactly who they are. Using their shrewd business acumen they are now doing what most worried investors would do, in that they are seeing how it pans out. They surely do not want to spend another penny until they are aware of the club's future. It makes perfect sense from a business perspective, particularly if they have already cleared the money spent so far as potential loss. This is the way that I see the current situation. I also believe that Venkys are being told 'Don't worry, they'll survive, say what you like." This allows them to talk freely about the future. Anyway, believe me or not that is my opinion of the current situation. great post BPF. Am I so think that they will sell us because they don't want to owners to us if we going down. I guess that the walker family or some of them would like to buy us buy because of what has gone on with these idiots? I really hope that they sell us whatever league we are in next season! They are just stupid people who did not know what they was getting themseleves into and now we as fans are paying the cost for all this!!!
BangkokRover Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 We are a written off investment. Unless we manage to survive under the current management regime. No more pennies will be spent. Is that fact or just rumor mill?
Amo Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Kean is still in a job for the same reason that we currently don't have a chairman, pennies. Hang on. If that was true, why would they sack Sam (when his contract expired in six months) and pay millions in compo? Surely, "prudent" owners would have waited until the summer instead of blowing that kinda money?

Considering how long it took for The Walkers Trust to sell the club, I would guess that unless a board member wins the lottery it will not happen any time soon.
Jimmy612 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Our appalling away form under successive managers was always going to provide a problem if it didn't improve. We were bound to have a downturn in results of home at some stage. No, we were 13th in the away form table last season, and we'd won two games this season, and taken a point against City. We were unfortunate to lose against Brum and Bolton. Our foundation was certainly our home form, which was excellent under Allardyce. Since Kean took over we have played, WHU, Stoke, WBA, Newc, Blackpool, Birmingham. From the available 18 points we have taken 7. I don't understand how we were 'bound' to have a downturn of results, our record at home under SA speaks for itself. He knew how to keep teams in the prem. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for this clown!

But you are right, the compensation paid to Sam was another expense they had not initially planned on, one of many.
dring1 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 That was before 'the current' thinking came about. But you are right, the compensation paid to Sam was another expense they had not initially planned on, one of many. This is what I don't understand. They sacked Sam within 4 weeks who had done nothing wrong. Fair enough if he had a record this guy has got. Results speak for them selves. Do they want us to get relegated and that is the reason they won't sack this clown. The question has got to be asked
philipl Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 That vote is dramatic. Suffice to say, I am not one of the five.
den Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 That vote is dramatic. Suffice to say, I am not one of the five. 2% want to keep him on.
thenodrog Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 That vote is dramatic. Suffice to say, I am not one of the five. 3 Rao's, Jerome Anderson and his Mum. With Jason Roberts, Nicko and every other Premier manager making up the 'Don't knows'. btw philip..... I've still not voted on the 'Ince out' poll yet either.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Nothing wrong with giving Kean a chance. Aren't fans supposed to back their manager? Unlike some, who got their kicks in early for bragging rights, because *shock horror* an inexperienced manager wasn't up to the job. Not unusual on here. This should be known as "Thenodrog Syndrome".
Sandiway Blue Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 So basically its us the fans that need to grab the bull by the horns... get behind the lads for 90mins, let them know we are 100% behind them - that will do wonders compared to a negative atmosphere. If Venky's don't give a toss, WE DO! We've followed Rovers for years, it's our club, let's do our bit! Spot on Ben! Save the protests for after the games but during the games,if we are to survive, then we have to back the team 100% and nothing less! If the owners are going to stick with Kean until the summer (which at this moment in time looks 100% nailed on) then we have to do our bit and help Rovers all we can. COYB!
BRFC1995 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 asset stripping summer here we come, don't care how much jones hoillet ollsen robbo samba go for because im conviced we'll never see a penny of it. Kean is turd when he has some decent players to pick from, frightening how bad we'll be when he has to pick from the dross we'd never shift
thenodrog Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Not unusual on here. This should be known as "Thenodrog Syndrome". I would expect that soon to be upgraded to "Thenodrog's Law".

Unlike some, who got their kicks in early for bragging rights, because *shock horror* an inexperienced manager wasn't up to the job. Perhaps you should have tried it a little more with our previous manager Topman. Obviously there is a lot wrong with giving Kean a chance, we've plummeted towards the championship like a stone and are on a shocking run of results. Not got their kicks in early topman, these people were just right. Remind me of your stance on Paul Ince.
joey_big_nose Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I voted sack him, but I mean it with the caveat of having someone decent to come in. I don't think sacking Kean and putting Jensen in charge is going to help. What worries me is that I find it hard to believe Venky's are, or would, put any real credible effort or knowledge into finding someone decent. Which means there s a petty high chance of whoever comes in being worse, not knowing the players, and not knowing the football club.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I would expect that soon to be upgraded to "Thenodrog's Law". How many edits did that take Alf?
Amo Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Perhaps you should have tried it a little more with our previous manager Topman. Been there, done that. Obviously there is a lot wrong with giving Kean a chance, we've plummeted towards the championship like a stone and are on a shocking run of results. That implies that NOT giving him a chance would change that fact. Not got their kicks in early topman, these people were just right. Right or wrong, it was obnoxious and egotistical. Remind me of your stance on Paul Ince. Same as Kean. Wasn't sure of the appointment but backed him until it was clear he was out of his depth. That's what any reasonable fan would do.
Jimmy612 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I voted sack him, but I mean it with the caveat of having someone decent to come in. Who would you have liked?

Same as Kean. Wasn't sure of the appointment but backed him until it was clear he was out of his depth. That's what any reasonable fan would do. It wasn't obnoxious and egotistical at all. When people have their concerns about a person who has been brought in to manage a club, they have every right to voice their opinions. Especially when it turns out that their feelings are well justified. It is very odd to me that you were willing to give Paul Ince and Steve Kean a chance, when neither of them should have been anywhere near the post, yet when we have one of the most experienced PL managers at the helm, you bombard him with criticism because of his style of play. It is my belief that any reasonable fan would realise the dangers of imbecilic decisions such as the one made in December, however that hasn't sunk in yet has it
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Please, someone give us some hope that Venkys are at least annoyed about this situation! Their silence is deafening.

I bet you still put your hand into the fire to see if it burns!
blue_and_white Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 To be honest I don't really see the point of sacking him at this stage. We've got 5 very tough games left against Man City (H), Bolton (H), West Ham (A), Man U (H) and Wolves (A). Its too late to expect someone to come in and get some good results now, if we did sack Kean then picking up 4-5 more points is about all could expect from a new manager and I still think Kean's just about capable of that anyway. He should have gone after Blackpool and if Venkys had a brain cell between them he would have, I think now we have no choice but to try and stick together and soldier on. Personally I was never expecting anything from Everton away, the absolutely crucial game is Bolton at home. Win that and pick up a draw or 2 elsewhere and we should be safe.
