jim mk2 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Hearing that all targets are being kept under lock and key.... Until mid-August presumably, by which time the best players will have been snapped up and we'll be chasing over-priced dregs and loanees. Sounds like another excuse for Venky's not to show us the money.

chaddyrovers Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Hearing that all targets are being kept under lock and key.... Whether that is true or it's just that we don't have any except for RSC, remains to be seen. Maybe rovers are keeping everything low key to avoid other clubs coming in for them. Keep the price down and get players we want in. If we can get RSC back to the old RSC then he will be a good signing! Just need a proper pre season and games and goals and he will get back to the old RSC.

The guy shows more ability in a technical sense than our other strikers, it has to be remembered that he has had one good season in his career. The only way he would be effective is by playing balls off to a really top class striker. I get so nervous watching Cruz, everytime a tackle goes in, I always feel sorry for him in that he is made of glass.
chaddyrovers Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Nicko article that rovers and Man u agree transfer fee for jones http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Phil-Jones-of-Blackburn-to-now-cost-20million-as-clubs-set-to-reach-compromise-article746475.html
modes98 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Hearing that all targets are being kept under lock and key.... Good. It makes a refreshing change to January. The less they say the better.
Ricky Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I know some people don't agree but I'm impressed with the way venkys have refused to be bullied by united on this. Maybe they didn't have a leg to stand on but they've fought their, and our, corner. If it gets us an extra £4m we have to be happy. Even if it's based on performances we can't really complain.

It wont be a popular opinion but I think on the whole RSC offers more than Kalinic.

47er Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I and a few others have mentioned this before, but I'll repeat it for your sake. At that time in January, nobody thought Phil Jones was worth 20 million pounds or more. Did you? I certainly did not at that time. He was injured, not playing, but after he signed the contract he recovered from his injury and surgery much faster than expected, he put up stellar performances in the second half of the season to keep Blackburn up in the Premiership - that's when his value really started to rise and shoot up to above 20 million. In January, Arsenal offered 8 million. Of course we all laughed them off, saying it was too low, but to be honest none of us thought Jones was worth 20 million AT THAT POINT OF TIME. Yeah, a lot of people complained that the release clause is too low, but they forgot that the clause was included in January, way before Jones hit the peak of his performances. You could argue that he has always been playing well, I won't deny that but even the most argumentative must admit that Jones particularly SHONE through the second half of the season after January, and not before. So why are Venkys angry then? According to you they have no reason.
Balwer Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Mail have a different take to Alan. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2002849/Manchester-United-sign-Phil-Jones.html?ITO=1490
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 It wont be a popular opinion but I think on the whole RSC offers more than Kalinic. You can't be talking about this season, his first season here of course he did but that was a one off. Looks like fans are happy to bring in a player who will pick up £40-60k per week as he spends most of his time on the treatment table, and then watch him play the odd game in which he won't score.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Hearing that all targets are being kept under lock and key.... Whether that is true or it's just that we don't have any except for RSC, remains to be seen. It would be ironic if our manager was also under lock and key come the start of the season! Do you know who is sourcing targets - is it Kean, kentaro or do the Rao brothers still have an agenda?
Fraserkirky Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Vagner Love would be a top signing, that would be fantastic.
Amo Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Vagner Love would be a top signing, that would be fantastic. Wasn't there a post on the last page about the guy's "colourful" private life. It would explain why he's still in Russia.
super_arran Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Does anyone know if there is any new news on J.Jones?
Roversi Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 i realise the pro's and cons about Cruz being signed up, however, im postive with a good pre season run we could see him atleast reach 10 league goals. he has quality and at 29 he still has some decent years left in him, at 6.5 which is the figure being quoted, i wouldn't bite, however if city compromise at 4 mill then i'd be tempted to buy.
47er Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I've been told that at the start of the season: Samba will play for Arsenal Santa Cruz will be our player. No good news?
Oklahoma Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I would like to see 3 Real Madrid players playing for Rovers next season and they wouldn't be that expensive since all have been transfer listed: Garay Gago Pedro Leon Maybe Salgado can help negotiating with Real Madrid.
Backroom DE. 67splitscreen Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Mail have a different take to Alan. http://www.dailymail...s.html?ITO=1490 Strange how they quote Ziegler, wonder where they dug that one up from.
Backroom Tom Posted June 12, 2011 Backroom Posted June 12, 2011 Strange how they quote Ziegler, wonder where they dug that one up from. To be fair I've seen the examply used on various forums over the weekend

Would you not add Sergio Canales to that list?
Tris Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I've been told that at the start of the season: Samba will play for Arsenal Santa Cruz will be our player. Whatever. Just another anti-Venky's-mafia crusader dishing the dirt ... ... "Ive been told" ... yes of course you've been told. By the way - you did have a Twitter feed that was extremely anti-Venky's - bordering on libel in fact. You advertised it on page 275 of the SK thread on this very MB - It's gone completely. Did you get scared, or did you get chased? Oh, and another name drop. "Rather high ranking" ... are you related to Kelbo?
