cn174 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Thought I should start a thread considering we'll be in the draw tomorrow (12.30). Easy tie at home please! One good result from tonight - Derby 5-5 Scunthorpe - going into extra time.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Ipswich were losing 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers which would have been pretty good news for us in a way but then they came back and won 3-1......and Swindon beat Brighton 3-0 fair play to them. Normally I hope we draw Burnley in cups but I'm genuinely scared of facing them this season.....we could do with a cup run to distract us from the league so hopefully we get drawn at home to a League 2 side.
braddock Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I'd rather concentrate on the league but I wouldn't say no to a cup run.
m1st Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Whoever we get tomorrow, let's just hope we don't make a C.O.C[Capital One Cup]-up of it!!
Stuart Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Haven't we forfeited entry this year? Gash name for a cup competition, btw...
Ossydave Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Haven't we forfeited entry this year? Gash name for a cup competition, btw... I honestly thought it was the name of some tacky little pre season tournament the other day when I saw it mentioned, until I saw the fixtures and realised how many teams were in it.
Paul Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 ....... err can someone tell me what competition this? Never heard of it before. I have a Capital One card, am I sponsoring a cup?
cn174 Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 Yea, it is the new sponsorship of the league cup.
Stuart Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Carling cup I think ...well, it made me laugh anyway!
Baz Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Last thing we need is a cup run really, settle for an away tie and early exit this season. Bigger fish to fry than the milk cup.
Sparky Marky Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Rumbelows Cup Simod Cup..but that was a bit shittier
Mattyblue Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Simod Cup? That was a rebadged Full Members, a prestigious trophy if you don't mind.
DazRover Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Ipswich were losing 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers which would have been pretty good news for us in a way but then they came back and won 3-1......and Swindon beat Brighton 3-0 fair play to them. Normally I hope we draw Burnley in cups but I'm genuinely scared of facing them this season.....we could do with a cup run to distract us from the league so hopefully we get drawn at home to a League 2 side. I think us and the dingles are seeded,, so we can't draw them.
Hughesy Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I hope we draw the worst attacking team left in the draw.... just so we can try and keep a clean sheet
Kelbo Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I hope we draw the worst attacking team left in the draw.... just so we can try and keep a clean sheet Try being the operative word!!
Hughesy Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Well obviously only 'try' with Robbo between the sticks... Anything around 30 yards will beat him
SAS Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 This is the cup we were definetly going to win along with our top ten finish right?
Mattyblue Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 No it's defintely promotion this year as we have a 'squad other teams will look at go, wow what a squad'.
braddock Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I didn't realise there were 'seeded' teams in this competition. Not a fan of that set up.
cn174 Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 I didn't realise there were 'seeded' teams in this competition. Not a fan of that set up. been like that for a couple of years now but i'm not a fan either. Usually we're seeded into the 3rd round... We only didn't play in round 1 because we were the 2nd highest team (Bolton also got a bye). SO there's somat to be said for finishing 19th..... :S
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Our priority is getting out of this hell hole of a league,no interest in meaningless cup games played infront of 2,000.
