Guest Norbert Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Can we change the name of this thread as many of us will want to talk about foreign leagues as well? I keep forgetting Madrid have signed Isco as well. Good to see he has found a new career for himself after that Thong Song. Can't be good being a 1 hit wonder.
alexanders Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Good to see he has found a new career for himself after that Thong Song. Can't be good being a 1 hit wonder. We have the football, voetball, futbol thread. Sorry, wrong quote. I did mean to quote Salgados post.
Guest Norbert Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I know, but that post isn't in that thread.
davulsukur Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23629379 Sounds a bit American style
perthblue02 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23629379 Sounds a bit American style Hope it doesn't give Venky's any ideas in our ongoing domination of the Asian market . At least Hull Tigers as a certain ring to it and fits into the club nickname, colours etc, certainly sounds better than some of the teams that play in the A league over here.

I know Australia has Newcastle Jets, that one stuck in my mind. We get a number of those games broadcast. To me, it seemed the A-League used a lot of pastel colours in their kits but I have no idea if that is really so. Now, I watched years ago and still check it out when I can Australian Rules Football. I really think that is among the world's great games or sports and nothing will change my mind on that.

They'll be calling us Blackburn Roosters and that protest chicken will be the mascot!
Backroom Tom Posted August 10, 2013 Backroom Posted August 10, 2013 A few United fans I know are nervous about Moyes and it seems a lot of their fans are twitchy about it Could be interesting
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 10, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted August 10, 2013 I can't help but think with Moyes that he hasn't really set the world on fire since he went there. The proof of the pudding will be on Sunday I suppose, but even then it's only the community shield. I would say that they haven't really bought anyone, but only City have had their hand in their pockets, it seems to have been a slow market this year.

Maybe they'll go back to this beauty of a kit!! or this one:
Majiball Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Thought it was apt given our owners heritage. We could play in a blue and white cow pattern shirt, keep it to 50% of each colour and we'll still have the halves in essence.
Guest Norbert Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Right, I understand. Perhaps playing in Demob suits and trilbys, as the Blackburn Spivs would have been more appropriate.
Majiball Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I'm not sure we'd be able to market that to our masses of indian fans to the same degree as the Bovines. it is more apt however.
Audax Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 If Moyes doesn't fit the bill,I'm sure some high profile manager would come in. On that subject, I see the Bundesliga opened yesterday, Pep Guardiola getting his first win with Bayern Munich, 3-1 over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I'm not sure we'd be able to market that to our masses of indian fans to the same degree as the Bovines. it is more apt however. Maybe we should wear blue and white halved turbans. Then we'd be able to win a few headers.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Arsenal and City played in Helsinki today. Navas is a real cheap player. He was down all the time and really frustrated as the Finnish ref didn't give him single free kicks. Will be hated player in England!
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Liverpool lost to Celtic's reserves today. Although Coutinho will be a great player one day. Spurs drew 1-1 with Espanyol just then. Soldado with the goal, he'll be class for them this year.
Ianrally Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I will be interested to see the new GDS system in operation for the first time in England, at the Community Shield final today. I cannot find any info anywhere as to what happens when there is a contentious decision, and there is a referral to the new technology, which thenshows that the ball doesn't cross the line. How will the game be restarted? It isn't a foul so surely the defending team shouldn't get a free kick. A bounce up on the goal line would be interesting.
Stuart Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 I suspect a goal kick would be awarded. Much like if a player threw the ball directly into the net or if an indirect free kick went straight in.
Audax Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 League 2 related but this is interesting, link though from article did not work, be nice if they said what year this game was. Exeter have a historic link with the South American country (Brazil) after providing the opposition for what is now regarded as the national team's first-ever game.- http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23633936
