Hullrover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Appleton will start with 4 consecutive league games at home( forgetting the cup). That's a pretty good way to start if it comes off! A draw or better tonight could give us a great platform to move into the play off places.

Hullrover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Wrong thread! Really? Is it not about Michael Appleton?
Stuart Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Really? Is it not about Michael Appleton? No, it was me being a numpty. I thought I was in the match thread and posted about the penalty. Doh!
imy9 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Look into that and then come back Sorry my mistake he managed a non league team and a team near the foot of the football league for a total of about 20 games- I change my view completely.
beerwins Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Totally underwhelmed as expected.........Somebody at the club have a fetish for bald no-marks? Not the time for another inexperienced manager but we all knew this......If we get a win tonight and he walks in and we start losing matches it wont be long before fans are heckling him, why do Venky's make it impossible for anyone to succeed? As soon as we start to look good and get results they go and change something, Venky's Burnley fans?
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Sorry my mistake he managed a non league team and a team near the foot of the football league for a total of about 20 games- I change my view completely. Just saying he had managed a club before. Preston it was if it doesn't make you more arsey

Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 That was just getting you to research properly. For your own benefit
Cocker Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Ohara is a good player. Need to keep him quiet
47er Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Good luck Michael Appleton.I think you will prove to be a good feckin appointment and believe you will take us back to the PL providing Venky's and the board give you the backing you need. You've talked yourself into that confidence, nothing by way of evidence suggests it. Good luck to him indeed, he will need it. Just by the law of averages Rovers are going to get something right eventually. Let's hope this is it!
Backroom DE. Posted January 11, 2013 Backroom Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy's comments after the match when asked about Appleton: "I don't really know anything about him." Totally dismissive of him, put the spotlight straight back onto Bowyer. From that interview alone it seems obvious the players are not only underwhelmed but irritated. And it showed in their awful performance tonight.
AndyC Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Good comments from murphy after the match. When asked about Appleton, he said "don't know much about him, but tonight Is about thanks to Gary for an excellent job'' Then something along the linesof 'its crazy to be on our 5th manager of the season'

Murphy's comments did irritate me a bit. He was quick to point out it was "not ideal" having 5 managers in a season etc etc but tbh if the players had pulled their tripe out for Berg we wouldn't have been in that situation!
bob fleming Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy's comments after the match when asked about Appleton:"I don't really know anything about him." Totally dismissive of him. Indeed. Lets be honest. Who the heck is he? I'll get behind him but really? Was this the answer? The future? The new beginning we've all been praying for? Nope. Murphs post match interview pretty much sums it all up. Our new man is used to working for a club in administration and no players or a decent pitch. Welcome to BRFC 2013.

And it showed in their awful performance tonight. 1 player(2 if you count Dead brain Richards) and both these players seem to have grumbled about most things at 1 time or another(not to mention Murphy didn't even want Kean to leave!), I understand their point stability is key to success but a new full time manager had to come in at some point( i don't even recall any stories of Bowyer throwing his hat into the ring)

You can't blame the players for being human. I've been in their situation at work when the powers that be keep putting donuts in charge. Never had 5 total puddings in 5 months though
Giant Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy's comments regarding Appleton were said with total disdain for his new boss. As captain, he should be saying something about giving 100% to the new manager, not a lukewarm "let's see how it goes next week".
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Why? Surely Murphy can spot a donut just as well as we can. He's two years younger than Appleton but a world away in what he has achieved. It's like the bog cleaner being made MD to Murphy
perthblue02 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Regarding the comments, the players are only following the example set by one of our Directors the day after the Berg appointment,
AndyC Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Murphy can't win in this situation . Had he been really positive , you would have been calling him an arse kisser. The players are clearly as @#/? of as we are- can you blame them?
Giant Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 If, as he admitted, he doesn't know much about Appleton, how can he spot him as a "donut"? It will be in the best interests of all of us if he turns out to be a "diamond". Let's give the guy a chance, and be positive for him, especially the players.
