Joe Root, Englands greatest ever batsman, just superb today, 166 not out.

Magnificent.

Over 5000 more international runs than any other England player.

Steven Croft as head coach has turned Lancashire's fortunes around. 3 wins from 3 in T20 blast

They made hard work of the Durham victory really. It should never have come down to the last ball. As you say, a cracking start though.

very true but it was win. Confidence is high at the minute and we need to just carry this on

And we haven't.

Two very poor losses.

England V India started earlier today in Leeds, England won the toss and elected to field.

Should be a good test series, England can bat with anyone in the world, but the bowling is the issue for me.

Looking forward to it.

India 36-0

In what world do you win the toss and field first in those conditions?

Absolute madness, wasn’t it?

They’ve a mountain to climb now, too.

Apparently, the last half dozen Tests at Headiingley have been won by the team fielding first. Statistics or common sense, which would you choose?

I watched a bit of it in the pub. I don’t recall one ball beating the bat in the time I was watching.

It was all a bit strange really. From 40 overs in the ball was swinging around, yet as you say they weren’t beating the bat. India batted superbly. I’m not sure England would find it so easy under those conditions. Our best chance is for rain, a draw and move on.

Reminds me of Nasser Hussain at the Gaba....

Hussain’s decision to insert Australia on a flat track in Brisbane that sunny Thursday morning has become the thing of cricketing legend - a bottomless cup of mockery from which his broadcasting colleagues still sip today.
