That was an incredibly classy CB pairing for Division 3. The Hansen and Lawrenson of the Lower Leagues. Look how attacking that line up was as well Endean, Napier, OMara and Field. Ok they were all pretty crap apart from Field but thats not the point. Game hasn't necessarily changed for the better. Quote

Tony Field did score and he had pre-planned his celebration in front of the away end, actually forming 100 with his fingers! That Rochdale win made it 5 wins in a row too. Promotion form..then.... Agreed on Price but he wasn't in the starting X1. Remember Napier being described as "mercurial". Very good on his day but there weren't many of them at all to the best of my recollection. Quote

A lot of Rovers fans had affection for Endean too, but he didn't light up a game like the other three. Even after all this time, I can feel the pain of Ken Furphy's departure and the negativity around Gordon Lee's introduction and the poor end to a promising season. A few short months later, Gordon Lee was a football God! 3 Quote
den Posted Thursday at 23:32 Posted Thursday at 23:32 Dumper Endean. Didnt he nick or borrow a dumper off a building site to earn his nickname? Sure he did. Quote

alcd Posted Friday at 15:12 Posted Friday at 15:12 The best individual goals I've seen by a Rovers player were Tony Field v Watford in 1973 and Mike Ferguson Northampton in November 1965. In many respects they were similar and absolutely fantastic. 1 Quote

Gav Posted yesterday at 09:30 Posted yesterday at 09:30 I spent ages trying to work out who the old chap was at the front, thinking he was the ex-Rover, then I noticed Mike Newel 🤣 1 Quote

A few short months later, Gordon Lee was a football God! Rovers signed O’Mara from Brentford after he bullied our lads in a high scoring stuffing at their place that I was unfortunate enough to attend. Ben Arentoft scored a silly own goal too. One of the lowest of the low days supporting Rovers. Unfortunately O’Mara turned out to be a complete donkey, though not quite as bad as Gueye (sp?) Edited yesterday at 11:36 by jim mk2 Quote

Who went? I went to that game , the damage was done at Blackpool the week before , when Bailey and Wagstaffe got injured and were unable to play . To add to the misery of the day, a loud speaker announcement , that one of the Aspdens (i think) coach drivers went home at half time and some Rovers fans were stranded .. The weather was similar to today , very cold and snow on the ground . Edited yesterday at 17:20 by Waggy76 1 Quote
Gav Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Not a bad Derby side that included Charlie George, who scored 2 on the day. Did you go on the Ewood Express @Waggy76 ? Quote

Who went? I was there with my dad. Had seats on the side of the pitch that were so low down you felt like you were looking up at the players! We played terribly tbh and were never really in the game. Was exciting for a 10-year old to see some great players in the Derby team. No putting out a weakened side in the cup in those days!! Quote
