riverholmes Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) Erstwhile U21 goal-getter here, Jack Vale, signed for Northampton, managed by Kevin Nolan. Interesting to see if he can stay fit and score some goals. Though, doesn't look likely to me as he struggled for goals in every loan spell he went on - but he may surprise. I hope he does. Tyler Magloire was there before but released. He had a brutal knee injury that kept him out for over a year, ruptured ACL, MCL and torn meniscus. I read he is being looked at by Grimsby who have Zak Gilsenan. Edited September 28 by riverholmes Quote

Backroom Tom Posted September 29 Backroom Posted September 29 I heard two of our ex managers names on soccer Saturday the other day, Gary Bowyer is at Burton and bottom of league one and Mark Hughes is still at Carlisle in the national league, bizarre the route he took gradually going further down the pyramid Quote

At least David Bentley came out and admitted it was a massive mistake and he should have stayed. Quote

I was told his debut was delayed as he had a holiday booked in Ibiza and he just never showed up again. The last they saw of him was when he was pictured signing on (along with two pints of lager on the table with the signing on forms). 1 Quote

Kept them up from a seemingly impossible position. However red hot favourites to go down again and they are struggling this season. 1 Quote

RoverCanada Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Hardly a star manager, but Bowyer has managed to leverage his 'steady', if unsuccessful, tenure with us into an interesting and reasonably respectable lower league career. - Got Blackpool out of L2 via the playoffs in 2017, amid the dying embers of the Oyston regime. Kept them mid-table in L1 in 2018 (no idea what the expectations were!) before resigning. - Couldn't keep Bradford from relegation after a late hire in 2019 (they were already pretty much doomed), but then fired after a promising start in L2 trailed off. - After a spell as Derby's u23s manager, almost got Salford into the L2 playoffs as interim manager in 2021 (oddly on a 'loan' from Derby!). Made permanent manager for 2022 but only managed 10th (70 points, which would just make the playoffs in some years...) and sacked. - Ended up in the Scottish Championship with Dundee, where he won the league in 2023, but rather randomly immediately resigned after the season. - Pulled off an escape with Burton (9 points from safety with a bit over half the season to spare) in L1 last year, but in some trouble to start the year. Some Salford and Bradford supporters may not be too fond of him, but a couple promotions and decent firefighting jobs ain't too shabby for who was originally a rather obscure youth coach. arbitro Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago On Saturday 14 games from Leagues 1 and 2 are being shown live at 3 pm. There are also two matches kicking off at 2 pm and 5.30 pm being shown live. During an international break lots a lot of PL and Championship followers used to take in a game or two at this level. They probably won't now 1 Quote
