But the replay clearly showed the Nigerian defender hanging on to her opponent's shirt for ages, as soon as the English player made her run in fact. So is shirt-pulling in the penalty area now officially OK? It was a penalty. The actual foul started outside the box, continued into the box and ended with an elbow shove in the back. There was no clear and obvious error. Despite what the prick Clattenberg might say. Subjective ... Bollocks. We got away with one, Nigeria were stronger as the game went on and the ref more accomodating to their physical game. How was the overhead kick not dangerous play? She knew she was in close proximity to defenders. Nigeria, there's a plane at the airport waiting for you. 1 Quote
den Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 England are so fortunate to go through. Second best everywhere apart from penalties. Some of the girls need to have a good look at their own performances and understand that maybe they’re not quite as good as they thought they were. Not good enough. look, learn and move forward. 1 Quote
bazza Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 What happens to James now? Is she suspended and if so for how long? Quote

Automatic one game ban but could be longer after a review due to it being for violent conduct - so says Gabby Logan anyway! Edited August 7, 2023 by windymiller7 3 Quote

AllRoverAsia Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 That was a decent game and well done to the Aussie ladies, good win for the team, Country and the WC. They have some good footballers and pace. Denmark gave it a go in the second half, before that they were predictably boring. Quote
wilsdenrover Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 I see the Nigerian woman didn’t feel the need to roll around on the floor. Quote

We only had one player, Bright, capable of knocking any of them over. The Nigerians romped home to win the foul count. Edited August 7, 2023 by AllRoverAsia 1 Quote
JohnD Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Australia giving the French a hard time, 0-0 after 107 minutes. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted August 12, 2023 Author Posted August 12, 2023 "They" really didn't want this to go to pens. 5 minutes added on time in the second half of extra time, a joke. Come on Aussies!!! Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted August 12, 2023 Author Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) Well done to the waltzing Matilda's. Neighbours came to the door to enquire into the farang swearing so much, they thought it was a domestic! The wife put them straight... He's just watching football. Yes, a cross. Poor by the keeper though. Their keeper made amends. Colombia a competitive, well organised team with good footballers. This has a long way to go. wilsdenrover Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 A win is a win but at some point they’ll need to play better than that. 1 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted August 12, 2023 Author Posted August 12, 2023 Tournament football is all about getting through to the next round and the girls have done it without yet putting in a great performance which bearing in mind the injured is understandable. We are still difficult to score against. If current form was a league table we'd be in 4th position going into the semis. Fortunately football doesn't work like that, the Matilda's will be hell of a test. 1 Quote
JohnD Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I suppose it had to happen eventually, the BBC have made watching televised football a miserable experience. No crowd noise, just boring commentary. Quote
