Pretty safe to say he'll be off soon then as they're laying the groundwork for it now.

We tried to get him tied down but once the offer came in from -insert shit nothing club here- there was no way we could compete with such a big club and -insert bullshit excuse here-.

I find him to be one of the most annoying, and ill informed people I have ever seen on youtube.... which is really saying something

Club PR about "trying" to negotiate deals is pathetic, why not just you know agree a deal and announce it? Until they sign on the dotted line it is utterly meaningless and a non-story. 

Mind you even after that we will sell the player on the cheap if we can...

LT claims we are in advanced talks for Modibo Sagnan, a left-footed CB from Montpellier. I would've thought he would be out of our price range looking at past transfer and value, but I know nothing about him so who knows.

Funny how we refused to offer Batth a 2 year deal 2 years ago and now we are desperate for him to stay for what would have been a third season if he signed first time around. False economy as usual.

I suspect one phone call from John Eustace and he will be gone.

With this lot, it’s very much a “don’t believe it until it’s done and dusted” type of situation. Signing Brittain up to a new deal would be superb but until it’s officially announced, I’ll not be getting my hopes up.

Advanced talks would surely suggest a deal isn’t that far off? The same article also names St-Ettiene defender Mickael Nade, as an alternative. 
 

If we land this guy, I wonder if we will let Batth go?

Batth or Hyam would have to go presumably, they might try swing Hyam for the cash instead of renewing him, Batth ought to be cheaper too.

Blackburn Rovers are in advanced talks to sign Montpellier centre-back Modibo Sagnan, The Lancashire Telegraph can exclusively reveal.

 

Rovers are looking to make an early impression in the summer transfer market as they bid to reshape Valerien Ismael's squad. The head coach is looking for around six new signings to bolster his squad before any possible departures.

Rudy Gestede told The LT last month that a left-sided centre-back was on Rovers' transfer shopping list. With Danny Batth out of contract and Scott Wharton recovering from a long-term injury, it's an area Rovers need to bolster.

Montpellier centre-back Sagnan is a top target for the club in that area and talks have been held over bringing him to Ewood Park. The 26-year-old would require a transfer fee and Rovers are prepared to spend to sign him.

The defender made 27 starts in the season just ended, scoring twice, as Montpellier were relegated from Ligue 1. That has opened the door for a possible move away from the club.

Sagnan signed for Montpellier in January 2024 for a fee of around £3million euros. It's unknown what their asking price is in order for Rovers to complete the deal.

Leeds United and Sunderland have both been linked with the defender in recent months by the French press. However, it's unclear how strongly the newly promoted sides will push for his signature as they prepare for The Premier League.

The LT understands that Saint-Etienne defender Mickael Nade is also a player of interest to Rovers. The 26-year-old is again left-footed and is thought to be an alternative option to Sagnan.

He featured 26 times for the French club in Ligue 1 last term and has been with the club since coming through the Academy.

As reported last week, Hull City's Cody Drameh is a target to strengthen Rovers' right-back options. However, their interest has developed beyond the initial inquiry stage.

Head of Football Operations, Gestede, is leading negotiations in line with Rovers' budgets. Those responsibilities were often shared last season with now-departed Chief Executive, Steve Waggott

Given that 2 years ago he ended up signing a 1 year deal with Norwich I suspect nobody was offering him a 2 year deal

You have to wonder if things will improve on the transfer front because it was Steve holding the negotiations back for all our main targets. 
Even if it wasn’t him, will they go for it a bit more to make it LOOK like it was his fault?
