Then technically no player is or can be written off until their career is over and in that case itโ€™s not written off itโ€™s a conclusion or evaluation of their career

it wasnโ€™t supposed to start a mass debate tbh I just found it funny that some of the same poster who this time last year didnโ€™t want batth near the club are fuming he isnโ€™t getting a 2 year deal now nothing more nothing less than an observation

ย

It happens though. Sometimes a player comes in with little evidence that he will be a good and he will considerably exceed expectations. And sometimes a player comes in who is a big name or has done well in the past and be crap here.

If people arent convinced by a player, they shouldnt be told not to judge until he has played for us. Judge away positively or negatively, as long as you are flexible to say when you get it wrong.

You could easily say it shows how well Batth has done that hes massively exceeded expectations rather than it being a case of dont say anything negative. He could barely get a kick at another Championship club and was already well into his 30s, those concerns werent illogical or invalid just because thankfully he went on to do really well for us.

And again just stating that I find it funny how we have went full circle on him thatโ€™s allย

We dont know if they are aligned or not. I suspect if we have to lose key players having not offered new deals that Ismael wont be too happy.

Both have said they are aligned so unless you know something we don't let's stick to what they publicly instead of playing your silly boring gamesย

Been ruthless this seasons end with very few offered fresh terms. Thereโ€™s a few more like. Buckley and JRC to get off the books as they didnโ€™t feature much last season. Could clearly see the ones VI didnโ€™t have confidence in. Side needs refreshing and we canโ€™t just hold on to players who canโ€™t even compete for a place. Latest windows have been a failure but got a feeling we will refresh a lot this summer. Wonโ€™t spend a lot but think we will get a few permanent signings in

I agree on JRC and Buckley need to move on for their own career sake and I dont see them fitting into Ismael team, I say that as a big fan of both.ย

There could be some more fees coming in with Telalovic sell on, still waiting on Finneran compensation, And Reps are currently in talks with Arsenal about Tyjon fee. Wouldnโ€™t be surprised if we make some small purchases to fill the u21s as well.ย

De Neve certainly feels like a signing that's going to take a reasonable amount of time getting up to speed at Rovers. He'll have to improve his physicality and his technique by all accounts.

Ohashi came in last summer and his technique was some way off but it improved over the course of the season, it's still not quite there but it improved a lot. That took a whole season though.

No worries Rivers will come down to his level and speed.ย  My thoughts are we are aiming for a team capable of holding its own in the third division.ย  Then Venkies will be content.

You also said that Tomasson and Eustace were aligned.

I'm sorry if I have missed something?

We are not tying down our better players, buying some no mark from Belgium for 600k, and looking forward to 150 years.ย

Give me a break!

Dolan compen already re-invested before its been paid and everyone is moaning.

Who needs Gregg Broughton when you've got Rudy Gestede !

I would say GB and JDT were very aligned.ย

Do you any info that Ismael and Gestede aren't or is this another one of fishing trips looking for something that ain't there?ย

I dont know if they are aligned or not. Point being we cant say for certain either way.

We are at the start of the first transfer window, there hasnt been enough to be aligned about. But assuming history repeats itself, and with key players not even being offered new deals or at best being offered ones they havent/wont sign because they arent good enough offers. Presuming we end the window again not getting what we need in the market. Then it is only a matter of time.ย

Its hard to be aligned with such terrible owners desperate to cut costs, their appointed club wrecker lingering in the shadows and a novice playing his own game of football manager.ย

Its amazing how everytime you take for granted that mistakes wont be repeated and this time the regime will power on all in agreement to the betterment of the club.

Given they have explicitly stated any incoming money is not going to be re-invested in the transfer budget, the only answer is as you suggest, to cover day-to-day operations because Venky's can't/won't send us any money.

Cutting every budget and neglecting maintenance as well, yet somehow Suhail's salary increases...

Don't worry in another couple of years of managed decline they'll suddenly find the will and ablement to put 2 million quid in for a league 1 promotion push.

Except this time we won't have retained a championship squad and wage bill.

Cut what costs? What are cost that have been cut costs the wage bill is very similar each year? Do you know? Or just more speculation with you?ย

You didn't think we would make any signing before pre season training and guess we did. Wrong here and you hold your hands up and say you were wrong? Nope. Some of us can when we are wrong

Looks like we are finallyย  waking up with regards to Travis and Tronstads contracts.

The article however, certainly feels like its written to soften the blow of Travis departure.ย

I suspect the club will try and cash in on him, whilst he still has some value to cover some the financial hole they have created.ย

The article suggests there's a semi-decent chance Brittain signs, and perhaps a small chance Tronstad will too? However, I personally wouldn't bet a single penny on that happening.

The more likely scenario is that the muppets running the place will let it drag on and on, then (if anything) low-ball them, talks come to a hold... inevitably, they'll end up getting snapped up by a normal Club with a bit of ambition.

Travis, I personally don't think there's even a slight chance that he stays. He'll be sold this window to the first bidder... gonna be gutted!

The tough reality is that the Club don't really want to keep them, certainly not on higher wages for multiple years. They'd much sooner cash in on all 3, bring in cheaper alternatives (probably free agents/loans on miniscule wages), then pocket the c. ยฃ8m from their transfer fees... the Venky's will be delighted.

All a smokescreen so the club can then feed to the LET that they "tried" but the players demands were far too much for our poor billionaires to fund.

Fully expecting Travis to leave this summer for a small fee, and Tronstad to leave next summer for nothing.

Brittain I would put at 60/40 not to sign just based on history.

You genuinely dont think that the owners have been on a mission to cut costs for a number of years?

Also, I dont think you understand the concept of the time value of money.ย

My stance is that I dont know if they are aligned. They will say they are publically either way , I am not saying that they arent. Im saying that its early days and unless something drastically changes then Ismael will get pissed off in time too like the previous managers.

The wage bill staying the same is a 25% cut in real terms over the last 5 years, which means we cannot compete on wages.

Women's team cut, maintenance budgets gutted, fan engagement funds cut, coaching staff budgets cut, transfer budget cut.

Only budget that hasn't been cut is the directors wages for Waggot, Suhail etc al. That's increased exponentially to the 3rd highest in the league despite the 3rd worst revenue.

Seems like an attempt to make it look like we are being proactive.

It says we still havent even offered Travis a deal. Seemingly Tronstad too. These had to be sorted before the summer where we have already got enough work to do without the huge variable of not knowing if key players will be here beyond the summer. But even know, it doesnt seem to have to have gone beyond merely talks with representatives.
