But again how can he be surprised? The JDT saga was played out in the media to the point he was essentially gagged. JE leaving again a team in playoff to a team in relegation

val would/should have done his research on rovers itโ€™s all there to find so he would and should have been wary as to what he was walking into. Manager out of work just want back into workย

He did do his homework, he got a 3 year deal. He is probably the least sackable manager in world football. We cannot affort to sack him. He could pick himself and his son as the front two and we will have to suck it up.

No of course not but heโ€™s accepted a role knowing and willingly given our history and in particular our last two managers. Itโ€™s not hard to understandย

every manager will think they are the one to change the fortunes of the club or they are the one to change the cultureโ€ฆ.until they arent

so no Iv zero sympathy for any manager who takes over the club because they should know what has been happeningย

Who do you think is likey to have a better season next year.ย  Fit and young signing DeNeve or Baath?

What I think has no bearing what-so-ever on what will actually happen. But i do know DeNeve will have a better season for the Rovers than Batth, and that is all I am bothered about.

How long till the "Wharton and Carter are like new signings" gets trotted out by the club?ย

it`s a tad scary that we could possibly go into the new season ,with 2 injury prone centre backs(carter and wharton),a mard arse (hyam) and left back who can occasionally play centre back (pickering)

We'll plug that gap with a PL loan.

Not saying that's the right thing to do like but we've had some decent ones....one of the toughest positions to nail a place down IMO for a youngster in the prem but following loans to us there's been some obvious success stories. The championship is perfect for 'toughening them up'.

I want to agree and my head is saying it's very likely.... but it's still only early July.

I am seriously surprised we have even signed anyone let alone paid money for players so I think someone at the club is trying to get us something.

ย

It may be a PL loan and be useless but we may end up with another Harvey.ย

Let's wait til window closes before we get depressed about the current CB situationย

It's on record the reason Weimann and Batthย  signed last summer was because they accepted lower than average wages because they both had a point to prove. Blackburn Rovers were shopping in the bargain basement then and are doing exactly the same this summer. Weimann and Batth both proved there worth to Eustace and have followed him to Derby due to better wages and the club having more ambition than ours. If you want to keep repeating the "we are clearly not skint" line then why did BRFC not offer them both 1 year deals on sensible/competitive wages ?

Weimann has said it closer to his family home and he wanted to play for Eustace again.ย

Batth wanted to play for Eustace again

How do you know we didn't offer them sensible wages given we offered Batth a new contract at Easter and Weimann a new contract?ย

I agree we need someone on the right...not sure about CM though...we currently still have Travis, Tronstad, Sidnei, Buckley, JRC, Forshaw all available to play there. Granted not much quality in reserve beyond the two starters, but I think we have more pressing issues like a replacement for Batth and a striker.

Obviously if some of those midfielders leave then that changes the landscape for me.

I mistype centre midfielder when I meant a centre defender which I have now amended the post now. Priority should be right winger and centre defender are the 2 main priority for me. Yes we need a striker but with Ohashi and Gueye then I don't see it next priority and would probably look a loan striker to fill that void and don't forget we have Igor Tjyon.ย

I think Buckley and JRC need to move as I said previously.ย

We are skint when was the last time they made a real investment in a player ?

Not one for a few hundred grand per year payment or 'a fee of up to' which means lots of add on's to a low original price ?

Szmodics probably ? And that was on the back of sales the previous year so maybe there is a slim chance this summer of laying some real money down on one player with Championship or league 1 pedigree.

As for Batth and Weimann yes their loyalty was always to Eustace not Rovers but funnily enough BOTH stated they were happy and really wanted to stay here. Jackson in the LT highlighted both were brought in by Eustace on low wages last summer with a point to prove.

They proved their points, now they are at Derby...... no doubt on better wages.

ย

Well given that many transfers are now undisclosed how would many of us know. Tavares transfer fee is rumour to be up ยฃ2m but how that deal is structured none of us do we?ย

I can't remember how the Szmodics deal was structure to be honest apart the transfer being around ยฃ2.5m roughly

Most if not all transfers are done on a per year payment and the days of paying all the transfer fee up front are goneย

We are probably angry because a small club like Oxford can show ambition, spend more and most likely pay higher salaries than Rovers .

Does that not annoy you a little?ย

We already signed the midfielder we need to sign this summer so why would it annoy me when Oxford have sign a midfielder we had an interest in. We sign our target and they signed their.ย

see the amended post.ย

It should have said Right winger and centre defenderย

Doesn't matter how they are paid if you agree to the asking price i.e 2 million plus in Sammies case and maybe there were add ons or sell on's on top.

Meanwhile signing players from foreign leagues on deals 'of up to 1,8 million' is a different scenario.

You've committed to 2 or 2.5 million for the likes of Szmodics whatever happens, deals 'of up to' you haven't because they have to hit certain triggers.

And there lies the problemย

one is 25 years old peak age captain of his club with 170 odd senior appearances

the other less than 40 senior appearances majority from the benchย

which one do we pursueโ€ฆ..itโ€™s a money game and itโ€™s very obviousย

Wanted to play for his former manager.

Wanted to be closer to home.

We presented them with fair offers.

There was no way of getting them to stay.

We spent ยฃ5m last season.

We are trying our best to give them new contracts.

Everyone is aligned.

Dont forget, we have (insert graduate with no senior starts) and (insert sub par player) so its not a priority.

The prices are good value compared to other teams.

We didnt want the players that went to other teams. All the ones we got were firsr choices.

We cant spend tens of millions.

Literally everything that comes out of the club, swallowed.

ย

You sound surprisedย

We know what the Szmodics deal was cos Peterborough's chairman told what the story was.ย

If Weimann's move was motivated by being nearer to his family home how did he cope with being in Bristol for 6 years?

Just the standard one for an ex-player to throw out there as a reason for moving. Avoids getting into the nitty gritty of what really goes on or revealing some home truths. Amazing how this keeps on affecting Rovers.

Hopefully he goes there and deprives the Regime of any compensation money. They don't deserve to profit from his departure.

Ties himself over the most basic of questions cos he doesn't want to answer.ย

Didn't think we would make a signing yet we 2 signings but won't hold his hands up and admit he was wrong on this.ย

Didn't like given Youth players a chance

Always want to believe this is dis aligned between Gestede and Ismael without any to back that up

Well it's the midfielder we signed and given none of us knew anything about the player before he joined us how can any of us judge.ย

Scouts have scouted him and Gestede/Owen/Ismael signed him.ย

Judge him on the pitch in a Rovers shirtย

Yes thinking logically about a player most of you alot angry about not signing yet we already signed the midfielder we want.ย

Did we even put a bid in for him apart from interest in him? We have plenty of interest in players.ย
