We desperately need this song translating, the gimme gimme song I've seen floating around is terrible.

Team is obviously being set up to be very physical and doing a lot of running out of possession. Biggest fear will be that Ismael won't be as good as Eustace in setting up the defensive structure. Another worrying factor is that we're currently lacking depth (and quality) amongst the front four; Cantwell is basically our only creative player and Kargbo the only winger with good pace. The rest doesn't really have that "x factor" to make a difference on their own but is heavily reliant on team effort and getting enough support around them to make offensive contributions.Β

Ismael has spoken to media about his players going out to 'war' this season, so wouldn't surprise me if we see a team committing tons of fouls and bookings, relying on transitions (without any pacey players bar Kargbo) or set pieces (without any set piece specialist), and see next to nothing of skillful individual play but rather attempts at making combinations to break defensive lines:

Alebiosu - has pace but doesn't have technical skills from what I've seen

Miller - built like a brick wall. Seriously doubt he can provide anything offensively bar the long throws he appears to have in his locker. Technically limited as well is my guess.

De Neve - decent athlete but seems to lack an end product. His stats from last season regarding offensive contributions (assists) is a concern.

Henriksson - stated himself that he's not very technical in the interview. Has the height to be a threat inside the box as well as making smart runs but who is going to provide the crosses now when Brittain is gone?

Tavares - bit of an unkown quantity since he's been injured. Seems to be a decent ball-carrier.

This season smells like an endless stream of flying tackles and fouls sprinkled with a bit of shithousery on top to get results.

The real test of all these out of the country newbies even if they can match the physical stuff is the mental side of it.

A goal down inside 10 mins at a place like a buzzing Hawthorns against a strong side or two down at home to a Birmingham side with an extra 4k tourists behind the goal they are attacking !

The Ewood jury will sniff out the men from the boys pretty quickly.

He also showed frustration in the summer when Armstrong was sold and he wanted to reinvest some of the proceeds but wasnt allowed. Across numerous interviews.

I suggest people need to get a thicker skin if the odd defensive comment or the odd attempt to manage expectations (ill advised) still causes people to get angry at the mere mention of his name years later and have a strong dislike to him still.

Or to create all the rubbish about him protecting his pension fund etc. He subsequently has easily found Championship work, even once just after his illness. He wasnt in a job well above his reputation, he had no reason to be so protective. Promotion would have been incredibly beneficial to him, he just wasnt capable.

Il be honest I don't remember Mowbray moaning about the lack of funds or being critical of the ownership until that January window in his last season when communication had been cut and he knew he wasn't getting a new contract. Stand to be corrected if you can share a few links to articles/interviews of him urging the owners to spend or being critical pre that January ?

He did a similarΒ  thing with Sunderland agreed to become their head coach on the basis he wouldn't have much control over recruitment and then when sacked he did an interview criticising it.

The season he finished 15th when we had Harvey Elliot he should have been replaced that summer.

The winger we are interested in is Koji Miyoshi apparently.

Β Fee could be up to Β£2m

Only 5'6" though so could be porkies !

Were we not linked with him last year? Always liked the look of him, but doesn't fit the sell on strategy.

Why didΒ KojiΒ Miyosh leave Birmingham, he was a standout player for them and only sold for 400k

Had a relegation release clause. Would be a good signing.

Did Nicko's article suggest it's close or just one we're interested in?

He left when they got relegated. From the prospect of playing in League One to playing in the Bundesliga, I imagine he was keen for the move.

Having said that, did not appear to do amazingly for Bochum and they got relegated. Relegated sides in European leagues are our favourite thing. 😁

i think the club was in right mess about that time, with strange chineseΒ  owners and a stand that failed a safety check

Wasn't in the Bochum squad at the weekend so suggests something may be happening?

Where's the Miyoshi link coming from? Does he pass the ESC criteria?Β

I would have thought so. Played a season at Birmingham then went to Bochum. Not a duff leagueΒ

Commercially this could be interesting with Rovers having 2 Japanese internationals in the squad...

Yes but they’re too dumb to take advantage of it, see BBD as an example.

Miyoshi would be an excellent signing.Β

12 goals in the championship the season Birmingham were relegated. Quick and good feet - would certainly give us abit of xfactor in the final 3rd. He’s also not a passenger. Great in the press and works hard.Β
