So like I said 3-4-3 is the base formation when in possession, what you've listed is basically Tuchels' version of 3-4-3

similar to how Eustace played us most of the time last season

Lol. I'm impressed you managed to deduce all that from a few kick abouts pre season.

Well its very clearly what our tactical plan was from the Stanley and Everton games. If you didn't fine but its was clear as day to me

Again chaddy, quality. Its not about numbers, its about quality. We dont have enough goals, enough pace and enough creativity.

The minimum should be a right winger and a striker. Which is exactly what you also want. The one you didnt want is an attacking midfielder which presumably you dont agree with the signing of as you didnt think it was needed.

We arent close to registration limits.

Well clearly Ismael doesn't agree with you, Its one more signing Ismael wants and that fits in with 6/7 signing comments at the end of the season.

Yes I want to another striker over attacking midfielder but Ismael knows what he wants

Leonard is a write off, even if he stays he cant stay fit. And Tyjon seems unlikely to play up front.

With other positions, 2 for 1 can work especially as they can often be covered with veraatility. But at times we might want 2 up front at once in games, or if there is one injury, its always at least important to have someone on the bench.

Also, Gueye cant just slot in for Ohashi so it requires a change of tactics.

Why is Leonard a write off? based on what?

Surely you want a different striker

If we had any budget at all for a striker, I'd of liked Richard Kone, plenty in for him though and it seems not to be a priority position at present. RW is vital.

The main priority is signing a quality right sided attacking midfielder

Yes, we do need a right winger. They won’t buy a decent striker, as this might mean we sneak into the play offs with one. God forbid that ever happening…

That’s still short

No - there hasn't. Which is baffling in all honesty.  This magical winger is going to have to be an absolute goal machine to make up for Dolan and Weimann's goals - plus add a few more.

None of our front players will hit double figures, in my opinion obviously.

We are going to have to be incredibly hard to break down.  I imagine, like the last couple of seasons, if we don't score first,  it's game over.

Expecting Cantwell to chip in with a few more and Henriksson to score.

RW has to score and create - Ohashi and Gueye can't create chances out of thin air.

You are again just parroting what the club say and what Ismael says we are doing.

I am giving my opinion. We will be left short of quality, short of goals, short of pace and short of numbers (I dont want your squad plan, I mean quality in all areas) if its just one more. I suspect one more wide man and the budget has gone.

He did say 6 or 7. That was before Batth left, Weimann left and Brittain left. Explain that.

Gestede also mentioned competition for Ohashi and Gueye and they both pointed out power along the front line. Seemingly, that wont be happening. Explain that.

People are really scraping the barrel suggesting Leonard is a reason not to strengthen. He has spent 2 or 3 years constantly out with serious issues including his back and he wasnt up to it even when he did play. He hasnt been with the first team. What could have happened during him being sat on the sidelines to make us think, actually, we dont need a striker.

I love the assumption that it must be exactly what Ismael wants. Maybe its all the budget can stretch to and hes having to prioritise.

Ismael doesnt seem the type to kick up a fuss, not yet anyway. Praising our terrible owners and suggesting that contract issues are an issue in the past. He seems pretty comfy, why rock the boat on a 3 year deal.

Expecting

Travis out baradji in

new right winger

Buckley to be moved on

I think something like that too, depending on shipping out Mafoumbi of course.

So you will agree now

only one more signing - that’s not enough

Looking at the squad, we have depth in every area and 2 deep in every position apart from the right wing position and 3 keeper, 5 centre midfielders and if he is going to use Leonard and Tyjon we have 6 players for those 2 roles.

Bringing in a new Right sided attacking midfielder is a must now

One more signing unless there are any outgoings.

Are Buckley and Pears included in that?

great and interesting question there Mark

For me at least he’s acknowledged he’s aware of his restrictions

the same restrictions JDT and Eustace knew about but constantly complained about (I liked both btw but they knew or should have knew the role they were taking)

it’s obviously brutal from the owners/pasha but for me I’d rather a manager acknowledge the job ahead because it now means if things don’t go our way he can’t complain about it (or shouldn’t)

They all speak like this at the start. Eventually he will be run down by not getting what he needs to succeed like the rest of them.

Eustace and Tomasson both weren't hos they were towards the end at the beginning.

Number of bodies isn't necessarily an issue, more the quality of those bodies to come in.

Have to hope Henriksson and Tavares are any good if we don't want a repeat of last year when Trav and Tron were ran into the ground.

Well.. thats all to do with his success. If he bumps along like Mowbray did then he could just live with it for a few seasons. But if he does well and gets noticed like JDT and Eustace he will be off as frankly he will get better offers like JDT with Sweden it Eustace at Derby.

We're in a situation now where if the manager succeeds he will leave in very short order as what is the point in staying?

I don’t see it with him his interviews already have spoke about transition periods and losing key players and mistakes of the past etc Iv always maintained this stance…..any manager taking the rovers job SHOULD know what they are getting in to. I get the impression Val does more so that JDT or JE

Eustace didn't want to use Buckley and I think Ismael will rotate abit more than Eustace did.

Agreed 100% were a stepping stone a free hit for any manager

succeed at exceeding club expectations on a shoe string budget and get a move

fail and itl be because we haven’t been sufficiently backed

it’s near a win win - obviously if you go on a massive run of losses etc they likely lose there job but still a chance worth taking whilst getting paid

Ismael always said he was fully aware of what had happened before he took the job yet he took the job

But he's giving it the spiel about "transition periods" and how they wanted players to extend contracts etc..... none have!

If the penny hasnt dropped with him yet he's either not as bright as he appears or he's simply here to collect his pay check as long as possible.

Surprised he’s not interested in loans Chaddy. I have no reason to doubt what you say on that but it seems a strange decision as im sure other championship teams will be strengthened by some quality loan signings. We’ve historically (less so recently) done pretty well in that market.

At the end of the day, he was offered a 3 and a half year deal at a Championship club in a league where he was probably going to struggle to get a job otherwise having failed in his last 2 jobs at this level.

He wont have followed the club over numerous years like we all have. His first contact will have been with people who will have put a positive spin on it all.

He may genuinely have some naivety that things will change too. Mistakes of the past? No evidence of them being left in the past. Tomasson for example was happy for a season when we bought 3 players. It was the summer after when the shit started to hit the fan.

he might have been aware but that does`nt mean he`s not going to get fed up with the regime, especially if this complete gamble of a transfer model starts badly and gets worse,it might be success but i see us as being toothless up front and short of numbers and leadership at the back,as ever with rovers,it matters not who our manager is,he won`t be allowed to succeed
