Slightly rhetorical but a genuine question;

Is “The Rao’s, Venkys, whatever you call them’s” ambition the same as “the club” per se?

I ask this on the basis that I believe the people incumbent of responsibility at Ewood work to a set budget. I appreciate that is a somewhat confusing aspect, however it does impact how you can assess the “club staff” and the “ownership”… that is if you differentiate between the two…

The BRFCS Law of Entropy: every thread, over time, descends into posters arguing with Chaddy.

While the budget has clearly been cut, I’m struggling to believe that our road to the promised land was going to be paved with improved 4-year contracts for Travis, Dolan and Hyam, plus Ba’ath and Weiman creaking another season out.

Aka, "The Rubber Dinghy Men".

Dolan got an assist for the second goal in a 3-2 win.

They went 2-0 up in 20 mins and looked to be cruising, but a pen for Mallorca and a red for español, just before half time, put the game back in the balance.

It was all square on 75 but a late winner for the ten men, meant they won, despite playing the whole of the second half a man short.

Dolan fouled for the winning penalty.

Tronstad wants to go back to Norway. When? I don't know. His wife is from Haugesund and SHE want to settle down there.

Mentioned before but we were over there in the summer and went to see the ground, my lad was wearing his Rovers shirt so it naturally sparked some chat with a couple of club officials.

They said that he has stated many times that he wants to go back to Haugesund one day as like you say his wife wants to settle down there, they knew all about his contract situation but don't expect it next summer as it's very likely they will be playing in the Norwegian second tier. (They had lost 14 and drawn twice in 16 games at the time of visit).

So a move to somewhere else in Scandinavia as a stop gap until the later years in his career seems likely.

Is anyone even vaguely shocked?

Still shouldn't have refused to play mind

Callum Brittain says the 'goalposts were moved' during negotiations over his summer exit from Blackburn Rovers.

Callum Brittain says the 'goalposts were moved' during negotiations over his summer exit from Blackburn Rovers.

The star right-back left to join Middlesbrough in a protracted move to a Championship rival. Rovers said Brittain was offered a very lucrative contract to stay at the club but turned it down to leave.

Several Boro bids were rejected before a deal was eventually agreed. Brittain initially refused to play in Rovers' first pre-season against Accrington Stanley before being reintegrated.

However, Brittain claims that untrue comments were made about him during that period and also states that 'goalposts were moved' during talks.

“It was difficult,” he told Teesside Live.

“I think there were a lot of things put out in the media about me that weren’t actually true. You get told you’re close to a move and then the goalposts move. So it was a different outcome. I tried to deal with it as professionally and positively as I could do.

“I was very close to a lot of players and staff and Blackburn which meant it wasn’t as hard as I first thought it might be. But you’ve just got to get your head down.

"With things like that, I have the attitude, if something is going to happen for you, it will happen, so you’ve just got to stay patient and keep myself as fit as possible. Luckily, I’m here now.

“It's all part of football. I've been involved in a couple of moves now and nothing is ever straightforward. It's just about being patient, getting your head down and trying to get as fit as possible. Whatever was going to happen was going to happen. I'm really happy to be here now.”

Brittain was one of three first-team players that Rovers couldn't persuade to sign new contracts this summer. As a result, they were sold to ensure the club still received a fee for their services.

Boro and Derby County both made bids but it was always most likely that he'd end up on Teesside. Brittain says he was made to feel wanted by the Boro hierarchy which made him want to move.

“I had a conversation with him over the phone and it was an honest, good conversation," he said.

"It was about how he wants me to play, about family and how he wants me to come and settle. It was a really encouraging chat and made me want to make the move. I looked at the squad too, and knew a lot of the boys from playing against them.

“Speaking to Kieran [Scott] as well. I really felt wanted by Boro, by Kieran, Rob, and had conversations throughout and it was really encouraging.

"That feeling of being wanted is what you want in football. I looked at the squad and there's some really exciting young players here and it's a good group. It all adds up and was just very enticing.”

So he says a lot but tells us absolutely nothing.

I suspect Rovers were trying to sell him to Derby but the terms weren't as good for club or player.

Then Boro came in with a better offer.

It's probably along the lines of Rovers told him he would be allowed to leave if a bid of £X came in

And when the bid of £X was received, Rovers asked for more, which prompted the refusal to play

* obviously just a guess
