M_B Posted August 25 Posted August 25 22 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: I get that, and theres obviously a different manager. I suspect a downgrade considering how much Eustace was getting out of the squad he had. But its hard to deny that if you do a direct comparison, the contributions of Travis, Brittain, Dolan, Batth and to a lesser extent Weimann and Beck of last season do leave considerable holes. Some players that we already had may do better (or worse) too. Its not a linear comparison necessarily. But we have lost a lot of important players. Hopefully weve gained a lot of quality too. Not sure that the managerial comparison would stand up to much scrutiny 1 Quote

I'm more worried that we will have to pay him off just to get rid... Leonard: was expecting clinical finishing when he got a few chances but was underwhelmed. Throw in the injuries and our current manager's preferences for "physical players" then he really does need to get out of Rovers to have any chance of a career. Do wonder if there may also be a contract related issue (eg if he plays it triggers a pre-agreed increase that we are desperate to avoid for someone that we don't actually believe has a future here anymore) I think the aim with be to squeeze enough back to pay off his contract if they aren't making an actual offer. This transfer seems to be one engineered by agents in order to find him something rather than an interested party making a good offer for a contracted player. Quote
benhben Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Another player ive never heard of...although I could say that about 80% of players in the championship...presume this guy is a winner and not another 10 to clog up with cantwell and henrikssen. Has he got any pace? Big worry for me is lack of any championship experience and probable language barrier amongst players now.   Quote

wilsdenrover Posted August 25 Posted August 25 We’re going to have far fewer ‘home grown’ players this season (compared to last). As 7 need naming in a match day squad I think there’s going to be games where we’ll end up with a fairly inexperienced bench to meet this requirement. I don’t think we should be letting any more senior ones (eg Hyam) leave unless their replacement counts as home grown too. 1 Quote

superniko Posted August 25 Posted August 25 French 2nd division for the last 3 seasons. Surely we’re not forking out £5m there. He’s one of the only players I’ve ever seen a YouTube highlight reel look distinctly unimpressive. 7 Quote

Wants to press high up the pitch rather than employing a low block. spot on. The way Ismael big up Baradji in an article on Rovers yesterday suggested that he sees Baradji has a key signing for hiw he wants to play here with his midfield. 47 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: Quite excited to see Morishita. agreed 100% 47 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: It is critical that we sign a striker and its never really felt likely. Not convinced by this Soumane link, especially with suggestions that he has his heart set on Widzew Lodz (who?). But I hope we do get someone in. Widzew Lodz are lower mid table team. If he has the chance of coming here, then he will. Know nothing about him, so can't comment on this player but encouraging we looking to spend and to sign a striker Quote

I was unimpressed at his lack of want in a game. Taking a wage and onto the next club. His lack of effort and absolutely gash finishing at Bram Lane last season put me off him 2 Quote
rovers11 Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Very happy with the Ryoya signing. From the sounds of it, a bit of a coup to get him. Played a big role in their Europa Conf League run last season and supposedly didn't look out of place against clubs like Chelsea. Ryoya, Cantwell, Kargbo, and a new striker could be a very dangerous front 4. Don't think Soumano will come here but I'm pleased to see that we are actively after a striker as we were led to believe we only wanted a RW. 4 Quote
B16Rover Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Has anyone made a Ryoya Rovers (read Roy of the Rovers) reference yet? That's a gimme for the social media  2 Quote

ROVER_N_OUT1978 Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Can't see the Soumano signing happening if I'm honest. Too many other clubs linked. As someone has said anyway his YouTube highlight reel doesn't fill me with any great enthusiasm Quote

Same question to you @chaddyrovers who has liked it. You wanted Ismael gone after 7 or 8 games and wouldnt commit to saying that your gut feeling is that Ismael is going to work out the other day. And loved Eustace. So a bit confused. 2 Quote
