Travis is streets clear of Tavares at present Brittain is a top 5 champ right back hyam is better than what we currently have so we’re pinning our hopes on Morishita and gudjohnsen to be good but they will take time and that’s the issue certainly the one that I have is we shouldn’t be in this position what ideally should have happened is we sign Morishita/gudjohnsen/miller on top of last seasons squad probably minus Dolan weimann and batth as all were likely to go add Baradji to the mix - Vals words in the interview about transfers saying miller was due in 3 weeks before he signed but got injured so they didn’t want to chance it. Why sign a player in Baradji who failed a medical and is currently injured? Doesn’t make sense Yeah I will give you that one the Baradji deal is very odd and no one seems to know when he can play again but it could work out good (if we ever see him) as he was wanted by clubs higher up than us so he might have something about him but its just something else we all play guessing games on right now. Alebiosu has not been dreadful since he came in, more athletic that Brittain, he has work to do but the signs are good at least 1 Quote

Like it or not, the views prevalent on here are not held by the majority of Rovers fans: the Facebook crowd are at the other end of the spectrum and the majority are neither, but they are all Rovers fans. Following live commentary on an Indian court case can hardly be described as mainstream. The questions were always going to be middle of the road. Oi 😁 2 Quote

But I don’t think this rebuild is about preparing for relegation, it’s about trying something different after years of falling just short. Something different…or something cheaper? 🤔 5 Quote

Yes, the wage cap is crap, but it’s forcing the club to be smarter and not just splash cash on aging players who wanted new challenges. Honestly, some of them weren’t giving 100% either and it showed clearing them out isn’t just about saving money, it’s about building a squad that wants to be here. VI's support shows, and while it’s easy to be skeptical, he sees them every day. Gudjohnsen looks a proper talent, and there’s a foundation in this squad and they’re building something. It might take a season to click, but I’d rather back a project with potential than cling to the past and repeated failures of achieving the play offs. The club’s far from perfect, but there’s a shift happening. If its too much to bear, you could always support the bastards and get your England flags out... Theres a lot here but you say that some of the players that have left werent giving 100%. What makes you say that? Quote
roversfan99 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago They also said that they think that the squad is stronger. So why wouldnt they commit to saying that the aim is the play offs seeing as we finished 7th with a weaker squad, in their eyes? 1 Quote

They caveated that by saying it will take time basically saying season 1 transition and next season to push on. That’s how I took it silly though Quote

That’s how I took it silly though Yep. Push on to "mid table" next season. One after that should be looking at "top half" One after that should be looking at being "in play off contention" At best nothing whatsoever will happen, and the protagonists sail off into the sunset with their pockets stuffed full of cash. Rip it up, start again on another "project" or "process" - rinse and repeat. Quote

As for your second paragraph - agree that's fairly unlikely, the atmosphere around the Club isn't convivial enough for a civil conversation let alone that according to most accounts. John Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Has there been any indication or confirmation that we will extend a first-team player’s contract again? Quote
MarkBRFC Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) No, we're a one contract club now. Sign a 3/4 year deal when joining and then sell 2/3 years into that deal. Rinse and repeat until the end of time. Edited 2 hours ago by MarkBRFC 2 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 3 hours ago, Tricky said: and which of the ones that left would have stayed if they were given the contract/wages they demanded? IMO, probably only Dolan tried his best hard enough consistently, the others i dont think we'll miss and look where he's managed to get himself, a decent side in La Liga. I mean its football and also a business that's how it works, but the difference now is there’s at least a plan to build value and identity and better than recycling the same group and expecting promotion to magically happen. You don't gain promotion magically you gain it by building strategically year on year and improving your weakest areas. Yes you'll lose the odd player but if the club is funded properly a lump goes straight back into some quality potential. Have a root and branch clear out at a club that has finished just outside the top 6 and WOULD have been in it with the right backing at the right time is beyond odd. It is only being done for financial and control purposes and anyone thinking any different and expecting some kind of revolution is not only kidding themselves but also swallowing the latest propaganda from people who are only here to line their pockets. History under Venkys shows exactly what will happen. 3 Quote
