Wheelton Blue Posted May 20 Posted May 20 8,000 sold vs 9,100 last season is a significant downgrade, with miminal expectation that many more will be sold at these prices, I imagine. That's a lot of lost revenue. Let's see how they spin this one... Quote

Mattyblue Posted May 20 Posted May 20 I suppose with price hikes in the BEnd/JW and for kids tickets if we limp to 8,500 they probably won’t be too far off last year’s revenue… bonuses all round! 🍾 4 Quote
JHRover Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Name of the game here is to pretend they are offering price cuts and making efforts to get more people in, without actually doing so or jeopardising their financial targets. Hence the Riverside price cut, knowing full well it should be cheaper given the facilities, it used to be before they upped it and drove loads into the JW stand instead. Only a lot won't move from behind the goals, relatively full and vociferous BBE to sit in the wide areas of the Riverside to save a few quid. But to compensate for the Riverside cut they've upped it in the BBE, which will drive some elsewhere and others put off renewing altogether after another season of nonsense from the management. End result another big drop in numbers. That hardcore that will 'always renew regardless' seems to me to be getting ever smaller. Quote
Athlete Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Clubs a joke riverside now gone up by £80 to £379 JW upper outer to £499 Wont be many takers now but the chadster will put the club spin on the big price hike This is absolute madness they are taking the piss big time 7 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) After the JDT farce season they managed to counter a mass drop off with a £30 discount. This time they've stopped it from being out right disaster with earlier sales and a cheaper change of stand option. Lets not mess about they are doing these things out of desperation nothing else, the pair of clowns are just covering their backsides but at some point it will catch up with them. How many others would lose a thousand ST's after finishing 7th ? The lack of trust in those running Ewood is killing the club slowly but surely. Edited May 20 by Tomphil2 4 Quote
Mattyblue Posted May 20 Posted May 20 The late season run out of nowhere also helped. Their luck will run out at some point… though not sure there will be any particular consequences of that. Shrugs of shoulders all round! 🤷♂️ Quote
47er Posted May 20 Posted May 20 One sure outcome--the fans will get the blame for Rovers inability to pay decent wages of transer fees. 6 Quote
Ghost7 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Absolutely. The irony "You didn't turn up"... what like the owners for the past 15 years? The club's a commercial disaster. That won't change until new owners come in. 1 Quote

roverblue Posted May 21 Posted May 21 For those fans joining me in the Riverside for the first time from other sections of the ground please have very low expectations of both amenities and atmosphere 🙂 If you like a pint at half time you have no chance of being served without missing half the first half. They man the kiosks with a single 15 year old who seems to change every week and has no idea how to pour beer or take payment. If you need a number 2 don't even bother the toilets are freezing with floors and paint peeling off the floor and walls. Also the hand dryers are from 1960 so hope you like wet hands in the middle of winter. If you have sat too near the front and it's windy you will be soaked, also mind the peeling paint all on the steps as it's super slippy. Also if you want to exit via the Darwen end they seem to now regularly close it so you have to walk all the way around the ground. Welcome to the shitshow! 2 Quote
bazza Posted Thursday at 22:52 Posted Thursday at 22:52 (edited) I'm not renewing. Poor facilities in the Riverside but better leg room and easier steps. Also nearer the pitch, even in row 24. My reasons are mainly due to age. Too many games will be moved from 3pm Saturday. Too many games will be in the evenings. I don't like driving in the dark. Besides, Sky show EFL matches outside 3pm Sat KOs. Of course I'm sick of the owners and their lack of ambition for the club. They are running it into the ground. Horrible! I'll still be cheering the lads on from my armchair even though they can't hear me. I'll attend the odd Saturday afternoon game but a Tuesday night game in mid winter is not for me. Mattyblue Posted yesterday at 06:42 Posted yesterday at 06:42 Exactly the same reasons as my father in law. Be interesting to see the sales figures across the Championship this summer after fans have now seen just how many games will be moved for/shown on TV. Quote

Cold Tuesday nights in the dead of winter were hard enough when the times were good. No way would I be able to handle it seeing us play Swansea with about 6000 rattling around Ewood, depressing beyond belief. 2 Quote

If the games where on at 3pm on a Saturday, perhaps Upside down would attend, so might many more. The complaint I think, was about midweek night fixtures, not the crowd attendance. Quote

But to say I couldn't handle watching us play in front of 6000, then staying away because of it is adding to the problem. I'm sympathetic to the situation, but it's all connected. It's the reason I'm always sceptical when people say they're boycotting, it isn't boycotting if you weren't going in the first place. 1 Quote

Mattyblue Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago No he’s right, Swansea on a Tuesday night in the dead of winter will have c6,000 folk actually in the ground regardless of the ‘11,000’ they will put on the scoreboard. 1 Quote

Ah yes the old boycotting whilst already boycotting 🤣 I know a few of those people too 1 Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted 1 hour ago Moderation Lead Posted 1 hour ago Attendance is tickets sold, not necessarily heads in the ground. I very rarely go to midweek matches, but I’m always counted as attending. 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Of course, same everywhere. But that’s the point, midweeks are desolate at Ewood. Quote
