In fairness the present European champions winning it also makes a mockery of it, as it is what usually happened under the old format (that was done in a week / two games for Europeans!).

Yeah but having the fourth best team in England win it, whilst the top two from last seasons Premier League sit it out, just about sums it up.

Why have these clubs played all these matches in this competition?

I thought there were too many games? That's the excuse they gave for canning the FA Cup replays.

Too many games that aren't financially lucrative.

I managed to see the start when some boxing announcer was giving it the 'let's get ready to rumble' nonsense and then counted down from the sideline the for the kick off. This was after all the players had been introduced with a fanfare as they came out individually onto the pitch. The co-commentator then said 'double pivot' when referring to something Chelsea did.

At that point I switched over.

If our football ever got to the glitzy, razzamatazz nonsense that FIFA/America want then I would be gone like a shot.

Despite all the American enshitification of the spectacle including an 8 minute delay for the intro and a 24 minute HT break, it was good to see PSG humbled by some solid coaching and tough fit quick skilful opposition.

PSG invulnerability broken in a single match.

Why was half time 24 minutes?

There was a half time show, featuring Coldplay and friends.

Why is it 15 minutes in our football ? It used to be 10 minutes. Playing amateur football if the weather was bad we’d  turn around and kick off again right away.

Back then for a Saturday game I’d be leaving Ewood at 4-40 regularly. Now it’s 4-55 or 5-00.

You missed a really good game.

That's an easy one to answer Tyrone.

It was brought in so broadcasters could have extra time for advertising and cascaded down so it has now become the norm.

After the pre match shenanigans I was looking for a reason to turn it off. 'Double pivot' and a chant of 'let's go Chelsea, let's go' was enough of a reason to do just that.

Christ, if I wasn't asleep already, Coldplay would have done the job anyway.

Do what I do - turn the sound off for tv football.

They played well yesterday. Shows what a good coach can do.

Crazy that a lot of their fans seemed to want him gone at one point or another last season. Chelsea fans aren't used to giving a manager / head coach time I suppose.

I didn't watch it, but when they click they do look very good like at times last season. Not a club I have a lot of time for though.

Enshitification..... Best word yet to describe what has happened to the 4 major team sports in the US, as well as the 4 slams in tennis, golf's 4 majors & a slew of legacy Olympic events. The list is fucking endless & don't think they won't try to do it with proper football as well.

I'm proud to say I didn't watch a minute of it.

At the moment with being new the Competition lacks any credibility and might as well be a series of pre season friendlies.

The South American sides seemed to take it incredibly seriously though so we'll have to see whether it captures the imagination of the Public and gains gravitas the more it's played, or just eventually gets shit canned as a silly idea.

Even with favourable game times for me I saw very few matches. It wasn't something that was on my radar. I did watch yesterday though as I had spare time due to being sat in an airport waiting for my delayed flight, as is the norm at the moment over here.

The South American teams are mid-season so are fully match fit. City wanted nothing to do with the tournament as their early exit proved.

What do Chelsea do now? The Prem season starts in a month. Do they get any time off? Will they have any preseason?
