JHRover Posted July 7 Posted July 7 At least they are trying. Might work, might not, but at least their owners and fans can look themselves in the mirror and tell themselves that they've given it a good shot. Nobody associated with Rovers can claim that after the last few years. 5 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Sheffield Wednesday in chaos still. Rohl still hasn't returned and doesn't want to from reports. The Under 21's head coach is currently training, Rohl's coaching staff all out of contract still tho they are rumours the Henrik Pedersen who was on Rohl's coaching staff is in talks to return to the club and possibly replacing Rohl as first team head coach. roversfan99 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Their signings certainly make them stronger. Kyogo should score plenty, hes not the youngest so hes not a project to sell on but not every signing needs to be. Doyle has proven himself as a very good midfielder at this level and they already have Iwata and Paik, seemingly they arent adopting our mindset of signing unwanted Plymouth players adopting an attitude of "well we cant get players as good as our current first choice so we wont even bother trying to get someone to push them." Osayi-Samuel is a useful squad player who is versatile and has done well at this level before. Not 100% sold on Gray but their current squad didnt have much pace and theyve got 2 quick players there. Not forgetting the huge sums they are throwing at their plans to basically build the Midlands' answer to the Etihad Campus, 60,000-seater stadium included. For a city financially its knees, as Birmingham is, that kind of investment and regeneration is a godsend. Imagine owning a football club and investing not only to improve the team, but also the locale... The owners may have shat the bed initially but I doubt there is a Bluenose in the land at the minute not pining for the season to start. I suspect most will have forgiven them when they basically gave them an actual blank cheque to barnstorm their way out of League 1, at a canter we are unlikely to see again in any EFL division for a very long time. I would say it appears that they have learned from their mistakes. They have grown the fan base and there is now a waiting list for season tickets, pledged to build a new Sports Quarter, meet the supporters in local pubs and can zones before each game and are investing wisely in the team. Remember the 'we will absolutely respect the legacy of Jack Walker' pledge on their first day of Rovers ownership? That lasted a few weeks. 11 Quote

The only change to the original list is that Hull away is now a 12.30 kick off but still on the same day. That only applies until the end of September though. Changes to any games up to FA Cup third round day will be announced before the season starts. Quote

Many thanks Arbitro & Chaddy, will now sort the travel out. Not my preferred way to watch Rovers but will be in hospitality box as my pal is a huge Baggie and has a hospitality box ST and only time we meet up nowadays. 1 Quote

StHelensRover Posted Sunday at 19:44 Posted Sunday at 19:44 (edited) Had a break from reading and posting on here for a few weeks. Came back on today to try and gauge the mood/optimism for this season amongst others. As time has gone on, I'm starting to feel pretty worried about this season. It feels like this division is going to be very strong with no one nailed on for relegation. I expect Charlton, Pompey and Oxford to struggle (not controversial). At this very moment I think our squad is stronger than all of theirs, but I'm not sure whether it will be by the end on the window, and I'm not sure if there is anyone else we're stronger than (maybe Preston, Wrexham, dependent on who else they bring in?). No CEO, no court case resolution, COO still pulling the strings and another exodus of our better players is making me jittery as we're getting closer to kick-off 😬 Edited Sunday at 19:45 by StHelensRover 2 Quote

Sorry you're right about Wednesday, I don't know how I missed them out, their predicament is so bad that it somehow skipped my mind. The only club in this division more poorly run than us and it looks like it's about to really catch up with them. Hull I think will react to the fright that they got in the final few weeks of last season and I don't think they'll be as bad again. I feel bad coming on here after a break and instantly being negative about the season before a ball has been kicked, but as usual it's all driven by off-the-field and it just feels eternal. 15 years of it.
