Ghosted the whole midfield on the half turn. Experienced pros and he made it look effortless. Different opposition tonight. Technically not as good but we’re in your face and physical. Tyjon stood out again. He’s ready, patience is needed at times until he finds his game in the championship. But proved he’s ready for that chance 4 Quote

But proved he’s ready for that chance bring him on for 20 mins in selected games, see how he handles a competetive game then take it from there,he definately needs to leave the u21s behind 2 Quote

I'd be more excited if we had any chance of keeping him of course - but yes I think he eases the pressure on the scouting team finding a direct backup to Cantwell. I think you could focus your efforts elsewhere and a couple of players could rotate in at 10 across the season. Reassess in December. 5 Quote

Needs game time but also too much exposure might not work in his favour. Cantwell gets injured a lot of responsibility will land on his head. If we can sign a Rw who can operate anywhere across the front line would definitely damp any burden on the squad Quote

Forever Blue Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Going off those highlights Ohashi looks a yard quicker than last season. Could make a huge difference to his overall game with a full pre-season behind him. 4 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Again, not too much can be concluded from a friendly especially against such poor opposition but its certainly a useful exercise and confidence to win so convincingly. It does look clear what the likely team will be going into the new season. De Neve feels like someone Ismael trusts/will trust more than Kargbo, athletic without being really quick, works really hard, you can tell hes played a lot at left back, perhaps not the most decisive in attacking positions. Kargbo is the opposite, a bit wild, looks like someone who will frustrate at times but certainly has the ability to make things happen. Cantwell looks like he will really benefit from a pre season. I still stand by my comments about bringing in someone to help not to overburden Tyjon (and also that we need some security with a new deal) but hes certainly got a swagger and something about him so exciting to see a bit more from him. We certainly need a right winger (LMM seemingly has been quickly accelerated through to make up the numbers, hopefully his time will come in years to come) and a more direct alternative to Ohashi who should benefit having settled and having been rested up somewhat, he is a composed, natural finisher in front of goal. I have always said he is better leading the line that playing off, presses well and gets in behind even though hes not quick. No surprise we won so much more with him up top compared to Gueye as he suits the other players more and is more intelligent. 5 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Really good goals today. Yuki looks good, Cantwell look much better fitness wise after a full pre season. Onwards to Friday game now Quote

Popular Post lraC Posted 7 hours ago Author Popular Post Posted 7 hours ago Just got home from the match. Game was a bit of a canter, against poor opposition. Stand outs were Cantwell, Tijon and Yukon for his goals. Great little stadium, lovely Stewards and bar staff and plenty of Rovers fans there, enjoying a stroll in the sunshine. Looking forward to going back on Friday, when Elche will provide a tougher test. There were a few local Spanish lads who turned up and asked a bit about the club and its aims. Nice to mix with them and have a beer or two with some fellow fans. 10 Quote

steelcityblue Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago A few takeaways from the game IMO. The opposition weren’t great. Brittain is an important player for us. None of the other RBs who played came close. Hedges was better than his reputation. Ohashi is a born finisher. Tyjon has class..want to see more of him. Not convinced by Mc Loughlin.. he’s no Danny Barth. Wharton looks the better LCB. Michalski looks better than Pears. Toth still first choice keeper. 1 Quote

I think its easy to box off McLoughlin as an experienced defender and liken him to Batth as a result as he is his direct replacement but he doesnt appear to be of the exact same profile. Batth was a brilliant Championship old fashioned defender. A leader, wins everything in the air, and an excellent out and out defender. Obviously not very quick and nothing special on the ball, so you have to play to his strengths. If so, he will play a big part in getting clean sheets, and he did that. McLoughlin obviously will give us the balance of being left footed, and he seems a bit more likely to be comfortable on the ball if we need him to bring it out. Maybe more similar in style to Hyam, who is decent on the ball, a good defender but not necessarily a really commanding one. McLoughlin filled in competently at left back at Hull (you would never even consider Batth to play at full back at any point in his career) but struggled to often nail down a regular centre back slot at Hull. Happy to put the mix up for the goal down to him never having played with his new team mates before. Quote
