My main disappoint with him is that once the tribunal sets what we get for him (appearance/sell on fee etc), it will be Venkys that will use that to keep the lights on for a few months rather than it being used to benefit the team

that happens with every transfer we`ve ever  made under venkys ,we did`nt see any money from rhodes, armstong, wharton, szmodics or any others we sold for big fees, they`ve barely kept the lights on either, the **** won`t even pay for a decent pitch,it`s so bad they won`t even pay for sky sports in blues bar, where has all the actual money gone????,they`ve received untold millions from player sales, the poor managers have received hardly anything

Good evening. I've just finished writing an article recommending a signing for each Championship club. Let me know what you think of the Blackburn suggestion.

I'm an Ipswich fan so most of the picks are from an outsiders' perspective, but seems like centre-back will be a position you'll look to strengthen in January?

Whilst we may well look for a centre back, if Luton want their money back on Mengi (or more), then he will be well outside of our price range, as are most things that are worth more than a half eaten mars bar these days 😉

I do think Mengi would be good signing, young player and knows the league. Also depending on the fee its another one where he comes here, does well and we sign him on. I have mentioned previously Mads Andersen before cos he knows Ismael from his Barnsley and he is at Luton also.

Regarding Cozier-Duberry, he was really poor for us last season. Championship full backs had him weighed up pretty quickly. Keep him facing down field, don’t let him turn with the ball and he’s out of the game.

Done very well at Bolton this season tho

I know, but it’s a big step up.

agreed, His loan here was a year or 2 too soon. Ayari was here and hardly play now a regular at 18 months onwards

It's difficult to guess what his price might be. Go back eighteen months and it would've been 10m+ so way out of range for most Championship clubs - it'll be significantly less now though.

Cheers! Andersen has struggled since he left Barnsley, might work in the middle of a back three but I think his lack of pace would be exposed as an outside CB or even in a back four.

Yeah he wasn't great last year was he? That's quite often the case for first loans though, particularly with attacking players. From what I've seen of him at Bolton I'd be confident he could step up to the level this time. Even if Brighton decide to keep him where he is for now, he'll get another loan to a Championship promotion contender next season.

Cozier- Duberry? no we don't play with wingers

I like the way we are set up now. It’s a coherent way of playing that suits our playing staff.  If we can ever get this team on the pitch we’ll be looking good for the play-offs. Problem is - we can’t.
Toth

Alebeoso, Carter, McClouglin, Wharton, Hedges

Baradji, Tronstad

Cantwell

Gudjohnsen, Ohashi.

I’d honestly be surprised if we went for a centre back. Wharton can’t be far off a return, maybe Carter too. Then you have the three young lads - Acheson, Pratt and Litherland all knocking on the door. In the unlikely event that we do bring somebody  in it’ll probably be O’Riordan back from his loan at Donny.

baradji looks a really good player, what are the chances of him getting fully match fit and ****** off at the end of the season because we won`t pay the fee at the end of his loan, thats if we have actually agreed a loan to buy,the incompetence of the backroom staff is pretty well known

I'm sure there'll be some sort of mix up with the paperwork or he wants to move somewhere closer to his second cousin twice removed or some other bullshit.

fair point. Its does suit us and we a better team with 2 up front now. I still would like the option of going 4-2-3-1 sometimes but the 3-5-2 formation seems a better fit for how we want to play but also Ismael. I like playing 2 strikers and Cantwell in the same team but we need to bring another striker in January plus another in the striker to give us 4 strikers and plenty of options.

I can see totally your point but can we rely on Carter really.

I like Pratt as part of the back 3. We seem better defensive and more organised when he plays as part of the back 3.

Litherhand really interested me on Saturday and he could have scored within 3 minutes of his debut.

I still think we do need one centre back in January, ideally someone fairly experienced who can play in the middle of a back 3.

You just can't rely on Wharton and Carter anymore, and I would be looking to move at least one of them on in the summer if we can.

For me, I think even more important is that we move on Gueye and bring in two strikers. now we play with two up front.

I like the look of the lad at Plymouth Tolaj, but imagine with only just going there we wouldn't be able to get him.

That line up will give most sides a tough game.

Unfortunately though, we only have to scratch beneath the surface to see that there's not much more quality. It's why we are where we are in the league.

Tolaj has already played for two clubs this season so he can't move again until the Summer. Fully expect to see him in the Championship soon though.

Yep, agreed.

He's playing a level below his ability at the minute, he'll definitely make the step up.

Look at the teams that are already in the play off zone. How many of them are better than that team ?

All of them - that's why we're 20th.

With this squad and head coach it will be a massive relief if we stay up regardless of which permutation of players we field. (Imo)

I reckon the 3 or 4 Val mentioned wanting in are:

RWB - purchase

CB - Potentially O’riordan recall.

ST - Purchase

ST - Loan

out:

Gueye and Pickering or De Neve
