Its going to depend massively on the wording of the clause - it might be that the clause is an obligation to buy at a set price once 20 appearances are reached - eg. there is no clause to activate until that milestone is reached.

In which case it happens when it happens, but he won't be registered as our player permanently until the opening day of the summer transfer window, I think.

We'll know if he picks up an 'injury' on 19 appearances.

After 20 apps then can we still activate that clause even outside the window?

I think so, registrations can only take place during a window but he’s already registered with us.

Edited to add:

Thats definitely the case with domestic loans, I’ll see if I can find the rules for international ones.

Edited again…

There’s nothing I can see in the FIFA regs which would prevent us from making him permanent outside of the window.

Definitely no problem, as you say, he is already registered with Rovers

One day, we will have a Netflix documentary. Venkys will be gone, fans will be back, our new owners will be ambitious and it will be the rebirth of Rovers...

Maybe so but sadly at 67.yo.it wont be in my life time

The likes of Mowbray and Eustace in the main, liked signing men. Players who would give their all and work their nuts off for each other.

We're now signing the likes of Kargbo (no way was he a JE choice - he'd fully checked out by then) and De Neve who can't even be arsed tracking back when they lose the ball.

We've signed, or Rudy has signed, some god awful footballers.  Tavares not only crap but lazy too.  DeNeve not lazy quick but absolute rubbish, Bardji, got some skill but again super lazy.  Will never run after a ball he lost, or that is more than a yard or two away from him.  Even does the laziest thing when receiving passes.

I do agree with you. I was furious with Kargbo that day and was one of many on here having a go, but I feel there is some ability there somewhere and the right manager could unlock it.

The others you've mentioned just aren't Championship quality. I think I've played against better players than De Neve at an amateur level.

I don't think anyone can unlock it, not unless he has an epiphany and starts putting a proper shift in.

Funny how some players are lazy and others aren't.

When I read posts like this it makes me even more angry about what they're doing to the club. There is a generation of young fans who know nothing better than being the laughing stock of Lancashire and there's an older generation who  are sad they might not see the end of it.

Transfer windows now mean little to me now. Its as if its an exercise that other clubs take part in to improve their prospects but one we're not really bothered about.

We seem to come alive about 15 minutes before it closes having had months to plan it.

I didn't like Mowbray at all personally.

Had a cushty job.

Told Venkys not to spend.

Threw players under the bus.

Played square pegs in round holes.

Terrible in January.

At one point played Sam Gallagher at RB.

Was never anywhere near playoffs with a way way better squad than JDT and Eustace (who both nearly got playoffs if it weren't for the shambles in January and summer windows)

Well I certainly wasn't saying I liked the guy, just that perhaps he was something of a casualty of a very suspect set up behind the scenes at Rovers. Anyway, ancient history, and in comparison actually much better times under his stewardship than under the current set of morons.

PASHA OUT!
VENKYS OUT!
DODGY TEA BOY OUT!

Pass me tha cocoa.
