If Nixon is correct, which i presume he isnt, that we did lodge a £3m bid for Smit but Stoke beat us on wages.

Why wouldn't we put the same money in for Cleary? And not waste there time with a 500k or so improvement on the last bid? I imagine even we could give this guy an improvement in wages?

Something just doesn't ring true about the whole episode.

probably because we have no intention of paying 3 million for anyone,if we had indeed payed 3 million quid for jorgenson(i very much doubt it) there is absolutely no way we`de be trying to shell out  another 3 million,it`s all progapanda and lies by us and nixon, don`t believe anything that comes out of ewood and certaintly don`t believe anything nixon comes up with

I think Ribeiro was left out of the squad this weekend because he is already on his way

He posted, then shortly afterwards deleted, a picture of him waving on social media last week

Then its probably a case of them loaning out Pratt (as they have to play Cashin)  and/or maybe not registering Hedges due to his injury

Huh, I always figured it was going to be Pickering leaving. Seems to have played less, at least recently, is a higher earner, and is allegedly one of the ones who stood up to Gestede for his bullying behaviour. The rest are all gone.

I'd be after the best City / Man U / Arsenal / Chelsea / Liverpool Academy striker they have in their youth system ready to test men's football.

Need us to guarantee minutes? Well we've no bugger else, so that's an easy sell.

I wouldn't be fruitlessly chasing a lad from League One who a) we clearly can't afford and b) you'd have to convince that we're not going to be in League One ourselves next year.

I agree, except for the part about us being able to guarantee minutes because we have no bugger else. We are about to have 3 fit forwards, one was in excellent form until injury, another we just supposedly paid about 3 million for (won't be tons less given what Glimt paid in the summer) and one who has been pretty much an ever present. We may have just switched formation so that only one of them can play as a striker at a time.

We could and may well do our Cashin thing of guaranteeing minutes at cost of financial penalty, but we are in a relegation battle so we really shouldn't.

Maybe they are trying to offload both, and the first taker that they got was some foreign team for Ribeiro?

Both are superfluous to the current system, and bizarrely, even when we played a back 4 yesterday we did so without a left back on the pitch

they must have fallen out with val or gestede

both of them are better than what we currently have in that position,it`s stupid not to involve them when we are in the relegation zone

Indeed, I thought it was utterly bizarre that we went back to a back 4 and they still couldn't get in, we would rather play Cashin out of position. Feels like both their times are up as long as Val is here.

Have you seen the chances Ohashi has missed this season?

Relegate him to the bench.

Of the 2,I'd choose Pickering every time, but Cashin played well yesterday and he's staying in on that form.

Not really buying the has to play  story, especially after being dropped at Swansea after his terrible debut.

Spot on. They have both been solid left backs playing in a normal uncomplicated system. And they have experience. I guarantee they would all play better with an English manager playing a simple style of football and letting them express themselves. Itvis early days but it seems to be working for United.

Maybe Bradley Dack would be more focused for us, now he has split from his missus apparently.

When did it become the narrative that Dack was anything but fully focused?

I'm talking from the perspective of a loaning club. An ever-present, a frequent scorer, and a 3 million quid new signing isn't going to make them feel like their lad will definitely get game time without guarantees, in what may only be one spot.

You can't not drop someone after they play that badly. Nobody is saying that we literally have to play him, just that it costs us money every time we don't. If he had remained in the side in the next game it would have confirmed that theory and given ammo against the regime. Plus he clearly needed a game out of the firing line, and a bit of a kick into gear. The fact he came back in so quickly after, ahead of someone who actually plays that position, further reinforces the theory.

Jackson reckons we are pressing ahead with our interest in Cleary at Barnsley. Let's hope this one is actually true!

Don't think it's any doubt that our interest is true.

They won't get it over the line though because they won't pay what Barnsley want.

These days, when clubs and managers talk about a “striker”, do they just mean anyone who can play anywhere across the front line, whatever the system?

It feels like that must be what they mean now, because Cleary isn’t someone I’d describe as a striker, neither is Jorgensen.

The term seems to have drifted from “proper number 9” to “forward” and it makes it hard to know what role they’re actually recruiting for.

You've asked the same question before and I answered it at the time. From the same people who provide the transfer rumours normally.

You seem quite happy to believe them when it suits, for example if it's reported we've spent £3m on a player.

You would assume there's been encouragement from the player that he would come here if a fee can be agreed, otherwise why push ahead with another offer. Then again, we're not a normal club.

But I don't expect us to agree a fee anyway and, even if we do, someone else will match it and he'll choose them over us.

Yep I think so.

Jorgensen and Cleary either side of Gudjohnsen would suggest going to a 4231 or if they want to keep 3 at the back a 343.

Not that it's going to happen though.
