Currently I’d say despite wanting strikers in urgently on New Year’s Day we are maybe slightly worse off than we were at the start of the window when it comes to striking options. Gueye is absolutely rubbish but at least we had the option of a target man with him. We are crying out for this kind of a player, but my suspicion  is that even the mediocre ones want paying more that we are willing to pay.

I was a bit harsh on Wagner, his record isn't as bad as some of the others, he did a great job at Huddersfield and did okay at Norwich.

Bonkers if he was in the frame last time but lost out to Val...

Cheaper to give Ismael a pay off than to get a couple of decent signings over the line.

Any decent new signing would require a substantial cash commitment and a contract of 2.5 years or more. 

Can't help but think we are being played for fools here by the regime who have waited until this stage to remove Ismael (probably after giving him false expectations for January). Everyone now distracted by the managerial situation and whoever comes in too late to do anything. 

Then it's the summer and time to offload Cantwell, Alebiousu, Gudjohnsen, another £6-7 million in the bank and on we go.

Not sure I agree. There was quantity but no quality whatsoever last January.

Not saying this is any better, but I dont think it's significantly worse. (As things stand)

Lot will depend on how the two lads up front shape and of course it's subject to them not flogging Alebiosu at the last minute.
