Chaddy….there’s NO BRILLIANT news coming out of Ewood and hasn’t been since “they “ have been in situ ..

qell I think Cantwell signing a new contract would be very good news and help the fanbase

It would be

But it will not happen

We no longer pay the going rate for proven/established Championship players

It's basically a rumour started by a commentator and we have no idea where they got that from given it hasn't been mentioned anywhere else. It would be good news if it happened, but it doesn't really change anything in terms of the trajectory the club is following at the moment.

I always like to read Arbitro’s habitual post match reflections and also Parson’s comments, albeit these appear to be less frequent. A bit worried that even the considered thoughts from these two Board stalwarts appear to be drying up amidst the continued frustration, chaos and wanton destruction of our beloved club. Sad times, indeed !

Have you heard of a rhetorical question?

Its clearly not true, Portsmouth commentators wouldnt know that. Use critical thinking.

Just watched the games highlights again and those 2 goals are even more annoying to conceded them. Its basic defending for the 1st and the second half, why the hell has Ribeiro and Pears let that ball run out of play.

Because they're both crap.

I agree with you. Now, how likely do you think it is?

I think it would have been great news if the following had signed contracts;

Lenihan, BBD, Brittain, Travis, Batth, Dolan.

I also think it would be great news if Tronstad was to sign a new deal. Wonder if the Pompey commentator has any insight about that one.

I highly, highly doubt that. He’ll be way above the self imposed wage cap, and he’ll also know himself that he’d get a move to at least another Championship club in a heartbeat. My money is on him not being here next September, and that’s a bit optimistic given there’s the Jan window to come.

Think he'd be happy to sign a new contract on the same pay with a release clause...

Would work for the club. 'See, we can sign senior players to extensions...oh dear he's gone to Boro for 3 million 2 weeks later, well there was nothing we could do, he insisted on a clause'

Which highlights show it? It wasn't on the usual YouTube ones.

Whilst he will be on a lot of money for Rovers, his pay will be less than what he could achieve at more than 15 other Championship clubs.

My take on yesterday. Pompey dominated the ball in the first half without doing a thing with it. We contained them and were very happy to do so once we got our goal.

Second half we came out and were playing some great stuff. The crowd was just turning on the manager and the team. Whether it was tactical or a bit of panic they all of a sudden started hitting long balls and we didn't deal with any of them. Not a surprise when the back three is a short right back, a short left back, and a fella Hull practically gave away. Any header we won went about 5 yards and they easily picked up the second ball. Most of the time our back three didn't get first contact. All of a sudden Pompey were up in our final third and we caved in an instant.

Its the story of our season. We have no defence at all. Miller is really poor. McLoughlen gets bullied by any half physical forward. Ribiero is to small to be playing there. We've got half a team. He's no world beater but we miss Dom Hyam so much. A fit, championship standard centre half.

Overall, Pompey were crap, we played some good stuff in spells, they put some pressure on, we folded. And this'll keep happening on repeat.

Miller is 6'2 to be fair.

McLoughlin is so poor though, have to remember that Hull were quite happy to let him go despite them having a transfer ban at the time.

Portsmouth commentary said yesterday that Cantwell is in talks over a new contract, don't know if it's been reported this end.

They also said Blackburn had been ‘another’ of the big spenders in the summer. Which tells you what they know.

We have had some bad defences in the last 15 years. I dont think any have been as bad as this one.

having a bad midfield hinders your defence, there was no one picking up the 2nd balls yestrerday, sidnei was wandering about in his own dimension and cantwell is`nt fit yet imo,he is`nt a tackler to be fair, tronstadt a big miss imo,he does all the unseen, dirty work and we definately miss travis intensity

Certainly doesnt help. Although our defenders individually are poor anyway which compounds it. McLoughlin is a squad player at best, Miller is even worse.
