  1. Shearer is a gentleman. I messaged him on twitter recently asking if he would sign a shirt for me and he obliged immediately and was so kind.

  2. It's a bit like nipping out to the local Tesco now - you don't realise what you've got, till it is gone! Although I was living in London in 1992, I managed to get to many of the games in the capital that season, and it was a magical time, when you felt great pride in being a Rover and part of something really special. It was a complete contrast to my early years as a Rovers fan, when travelling to London was fraught with worries about the narsty southern bootboys (Chelsea, Millwall, Spurs even Leighton Orient had their crews) and under the likes of Bobby Saxton and Howard Kendal and Don Mackay we were always chasing our tails and underdogs wherever we went. Shearer, Ripley, Mimms, Hendry, Wright, Atkins, Cowans, Le Saux, Wilcox, Newell, and the like - you could wear your colours with pride with players like that on the teamsheet, and we were feared (as a footballing force) wherever we went. Those WERE the days!!

  5. I’ve messaged the seller who weirdly has mufc as part of his user name. Says he bought a job lot of shirts from an ex employee who had contacts at the club. I’m tempted by a couple of the shirts.

  6. Yes but we are all in the same boat, they should not get any special treatment.

  7. Because it’s an amalgamation of Rovers and Olympic. Olympic were in the final against Old Etonians but Suter played for Rovers.

  8. The day Sutton thought ‘feck being a centre half’.

  9. From the Rovers - Norwich game... is that the SAS before they were the SAS...

  10. When someone is highly thought of at previous clubs they often deserve the benefit of the doubt. Whittingham for me was one of those people. Never got the impression it didn't work out because he didn't care or that he had a bad attitude. I can remember arguing with someone on another forum who thought Lowe was a better player and should have been kept instead. What a clown! Whittingham had more talent in his little finger than Lowe could ever dream of.

  11. There's a shop near me that specialises in framing sporting memorabilia. Usually it's Utd, City, Liverpool. stuff. 99% of the signatures on the shirts and football boots are just scribbles and are pretty well undecipherable.

  12. " Flat Back Four " by Andy Gray is on a similar theme and is better than you'd think given the author. A really good old one if you can find it Is " Soccer for Thinkers " ( I think It's called ) by Malcolm Allison.

  13. Ouch! It still hurts to lose at home, even 28 years on!! How good was that side though, and how brilliant was the atmosphere at the old Ewood? Great stuff, Herbie! Looking forward to the next instalment!

  15. Looks like the supposedly ITK reddit guy got some bad info, as Edge, the Usos, Miz and Morrison all did tape their stuff for Mania.

  16. He's having a laugh with some of those prices. £800 for a Lee Makel shirt!

  17. And I bit. He’s set up an Instagram account and Tugay has liked the pic of the shirt. I’ve bought the signed match worn Tugay shirt to get framed and put in my office.

  18. One of the clubs in Hereford (where I live) were top of their league after not losing a game all season. Their league has been cancelled now with no promotion or relegation. In a similar situation to South Shields who were mentioned above. I don’t see how they can have different rules across the board. There will need to be some consistency. It would also be really amusing if Liverpool missed out due to a worldwide pandemic.

  20. Shearer at the start here was absolutely incredible. You won’t see many better than that, incarnation of Shearer, ever. He was an absolute joy to watch, even if I was only a nipper at the time.

  21. Maybe age? Anyone under 35 won't remember him the same - which is frightening to me as I remember him as clear as day. Someone born in 1988 would have only been 8 when Shearer left.

  22. Football, Rovers, decent back story - highly recommend watching it ?? Also good to see that even then our facilities were more modern than Turf Moor.
