  1. And we've no Nyambe to step in either.
  2. If that's true I feel sorry for the lad. What a blow for him just as he was about to push for a first team place. Shit news!..............for him and us.
  3. Ha ha. I had to use Wikipedia to look at Posh's current squad to find out who JCH was. I'm not going to tell you either.
  4. Anyone on this message board who watched Simon Garner when he was in the youth team?
  5. Thanks for your comments, Joe. I know an Ipswich Town supporter, Keith who lives in Walton-on-the-Naze. He's not been a happy bunny for a few seasons now. Hope you get promotion this season. It's about time.
  6. That's one hell of a walk. Most Briggers would catch the train to Mill Hill or get the Premier coach or BBMS double decker. My mate, Frank, who supported Rovers from 1945 to 2020 (he died) once caught the bus from Hoghton and got off at The Fieldens Arms, Feniscowles to "quickly and easily" walk from there along Livesey Branch Road. Ha! He didn't realise how long Livesey Branch Road was and got on the ground 20 minutes after kick-off.
  7. That Szmodics looks a bit tubby. More tubby than Dunny used to look. But he looks useful. Sounds like his name is pronounced Smoditch.
  8. Watford and Burnley for automatic. Boro, Sheff Utd, WBA and Norwich for play-offs.
  9. And if we lose the opening fixture it won't be the end of the world. I don't expect us to win every game. However I expect to see a gradual improvement under JDT and GB that 5 years of Mowbray didn't produce.
  10. If we can keep Batty and sign Bowler and play them both against QPR we might get a cricket score. I'll get mi coat. Well someone has to try to lighten up the doom and gloom on here.
  11. Lovely goal. Ruben Rochina-esque. Who did he do that against? Leeds or Sheff Wed?
  12. OK. Calm down and have another piece of lemon drizzle cake.
  13. Nice video about the Kardashev Scale. Narrator sounded like Pat Condell.
  14. Naughty???? Iceman needs a months ban for that. Had me fooled completely.
  15. The expression "The elephant in the room" is often associated with Rovers' owners. However in this case I and millions of others can see the elephant in the room, Bruce. You and millions of others cannot see it. I fully expect you to reply that it is you who see it and I don't. Fair enough. We shall have to agree to disagree or, rather, admit we don't see eye to eye. I'm going to leave it there. I wish you well. P.S. I admire your scientific knowledge. Astronomy is fascinating.
  16. That last sentence.......I have often thought the same. As to "a God of some sort"I cannot help but look at the natural world here on Earth and marvel at its design and its workings and its beauty; something structural in the midst of chaos. Look at the DNA helix formation. Also science can detect, explain and demonstrate matter and energy but it cannot do the same for things such as love or hate. You can measure electricity but you cannot measure love. You can see the effects of love or hate but not measure them. Anyway, as you say, this is more for WDWY forum. I read an article a long time ago about two American scientists, one an astronomer and the other an anthropologist who together set out to demonstrate that life could exist elsewhere in the universe. Amazingly they came to the conclusion that there probably wasn't because this planet and its set up is likely to be a complete freak; an entity that really should not exist according to the laws of the universe as they saw it. I know, I know.................a load of baloney but their conclusion amazed me.
  17. Yes. I used Wiki. Like Jim, mea culpa. Also forgot to include his championship games with MK Dons.
  18. Quite right, Mellor. He's played 17 league games and 1 cup game.
  19. Just the score and then a blank sheet. People at the club really seem to care.
  20. Yes. No surprise. We are Venky Rovers who cannot organise a booze up in a brewery. Who is in charge of club information distribution? Bring back Mr Grooby. All is forgiven.
  21. And the elephant doesn't even know we are in the same room as it stands, smuggly smiling to itself.
  22. He said to him "This is X thousand per week. Decide today. If you need one or more days to think about it, the figure will be reduced by £1000". That's Waggott's way.
  23. Let's hope there is a young Henning Berg somewhere in Scandinavia that GB has his eye on.
  24. I watched most of the 2nd half on you tube and I thought we gave a good account of ourselves against tough opposition. I think all our players were "ok"; no-one stood out as good or bad. It's good to see players like Vale, A.Wharton, Leonard and Garrett given regular playing time. We DO need a few incomings, permanent or loans, to bolster the squad. Still, I'm pleased with today. It's not all doom and gloom as some would have it.
  25. Queens Park were the biggest and best team in Scotland when we played them twice in the FA Cup finals of 1884 and 1885. They remained amateur for 152 years and gradually became almost insignificant; one of the worst teams in the league together with Berwick Rangers,Albion Rovers and Stranraer (amongst others). In November 2019 they voted to turn professional. Look at them now; no longer languishing at the bottom. I am intrigued by this change in fortune. I shall follow their progress with interest. P.S. Owen Coyle is their manager.
