  1. I've heard a rumour that he is heading for Granada. I hope it's true.
  2. The year was around 2000. I had the portable stereo radio/CD player/audio tape player/recorder set up. Radio Rovers was on 1404 and playing. I set off to Ewood with instructions to my better half to start recording the radio at 2:30. Tapes could only record for a limited time. I still have the recording and listen to it often with great delight. The match was against Huddersfield Town who had Scott Sellars playing for them. Tony Parkes was manager. It was the first league match since winning at Anfield in the cup. Gerald Jackson had a scotsman called John as co-commentator who had a bad cold and seemed to be in his own little world. Children were taking penalties pre-match. Music played included Protect Your Mind (for the love of a Princess) and We Will Rock You by Queen. Gerald Jackson has what I call a "radio" voice. Not many presenters have this. John Dunn was another.
  3. Everyone except Nyambe scored more goals than Chris Brown.
  4. Hedges was definitely looking good in the last few games he played. Anyway, JDT will soon assess him.
  5. That list had JRC, Dolan and Buckley on less than 1K per week. Must be wrong.
  6. I could have told Southampton that before they bought him. Championship striker?....Yes. Prem?........No. Maybe that'll stop Southampton sniffing round our players for a while.
  7. When I played football in the early 1960s if my shorts had have come down to within 2 inches above the knee cap I would have been laughed at and called "Grandad". Long shorts are what your grandad wore. Same with beards. The only footballers who sported beards played in the 1800s.
  8. Not be long before we are calling him Tombola Tommason.
  9. If Ryan gets a 4 year deal at another club (like Lenihan has done) on double or treble the money we were offering him, you cannot blame the lad for doing what's best for his finances and security.
  10. As long as people want to post on this thread leave it open. It will naturally sink to another page when the posts stop.
  11. Nottingham Forest
  12. If the work permit is anything like passport renewals, driving licences or powers of attorney, he'll be lucky to get one before Christmas. The inefficiency of the working people of this country is abominable.
  13. Lovely nostalgia but that team didn't win the title. Lovely to watch Mooney, Crossan, Briggs, Quigley, Langton in 1954 as well as Ferguson, McEvoy, Pickering, Douglas, Harrison in 1964 but............
  14. I'm hoping that the new regime will bring out players like Dolan, Travis and Buckley. Raheem Sterling was a good player at Liverpool but Pep improved him by a mile at Man City. I think Nyambe would also improve a lot if he stays with us.
  15. I will certainly applaud Darragh before kick-off when he returns to Ewood. A good player and a good servant. I wish him well.
  16. I was always a pessimist about Rovers but now I am brimming with optimism. However, Rome wasn't built in a day. We must have patience, especially when we see us lose 2 or 3 on the trot or the team isn't performing to expectations early on. I'm expecting a gradual progression and not ending up treading water like under TM.
  17. It was Gary Bowyer who got the pictures back up. Bo Derek walking out of the sea in "10" got me weak at the knees.
  18. Great game of football. Gally got head butted and didn't bat an eye-lid. Not like the prima donnas and cheats of today.
  19. Regarding own goals, there aren't many of us left who remember Mike Harrison on the edge of our own penalty area looking to pass the ball to a team mate upfield and deciding to pass back to Fred Else on his goal line. Else meanwhile had come out close to Harrison to collect the ball. Both players stood spellbound as the ball rolled slowly towards the Rovers empty net. We on the Blackburn End were trying to will the ball to stop. Some were even blowing to try and stop it. There had been no pressure whatsoever from the opposition. The most spectacular own goal was Keith Newton when playing right full back for Burnley. What a fabulous sight.
  20. He talks about players chasing down the opposition when they have possession. Should be right up Dolan's street.
  21. What real power will GB and JDT have in decision making and hiring and firing? That's what worries me.
  22. Molyneux is very empty. Sounds like a load of kids watching, though.
  23. You have to laugh. If you don't, you'll end up crying your eyes out. Who mentioned Banana Splits? I got it on You Tube and now it's an earworm running round my head.
