  1. Our parachute payments went into the pockets of Danny Murphy, Dixon Etuhu , Leon Best , a lot of agents and probably Steve Kean
  2. In terms of opportunity to spend in this window, Rovers could match Sheff Utd if the owners wanted to. Our owners are unimaginably wealthy, we have a massive FFP opportunity right now which will soon dwindle away due to the rolling 3 year rule. We could buy 5 really good players this window and be within the allowed spending limit for the current FFP period. It's not a matter of having more cash it's a matter of having more ambition/interest/willingness/love for the club.
  3. Not the point being made is it? If the manager wanted him and he ended up at Oxford ( in the summer ) it is evidence that the manager does not have the backing of the board / owners
  4. I've not been following any rumours this window but surely we are going to go for it hard too. Great FFP position which will soon disappear. Great manager ( who may disappear soon if we are not careful ) Very good position in the league. Seemingly great team spirit. Players performing to their maximum ability. Scouting network working really hard. No impediment to our billionaire owners sending money. Generous owners who never refuse to sign a cheque. What an opportunity. What is holding us back ?
  5. Has Eustace asked for sympathy ? Has he cried ignorance ? Has he really complained about anything ? Don't really understand where you are coming from.
  6. Save your contempt for Suhail - he is the one telling Venky's we can wash our own face.
  7. I'm surprised Sunderland loaned £20 million midfielder Enzo Le Fee from Roma when they could have had Adam Forshaw. Some clubs have no ambition.
  8. Brilliant ad. Venky's are a laughing stock. Hopefully someone shows it to the Raos and they realise that their reputation is in tatters.
  9. Perfect description of the inhabitants of the pool we appear to be fishing in.
  10. I like the flexi ticket idea. I can now choose which matches to boycott and which matches to simply not go to.
  11. Whether Morton is good, average or bad it would be a very underwhelming and unambitious signing. He will not make the difference we need to get in the playoffs and will then swan off again at the end of the season. No good for what we want at the moment and not building for the future. Pointless
  12. not every set of owners is rich enough. Ours are
  13. Exactly. Given our FFP situation and our position in the league, they could spend £10/£20/£30 million now,, get promoted and start recovering their losses. Then maybe settle for yoyoing and have no losses to cover
  14. No point having owners who can fund losses if they don't give a toss. Owners with a bit of gumption wouldn't need to fund losses.
  15. It's been the only answer since day 1. Hit them in the wallet and they may eventually get the message
  16. I agree that Schlupp and Hanley are good enough as squad members but we need signings that are much better than the players we currently have. Otherwise we are simply paying out transfer fees / wages to simply stand still. To be honest, I think Schlupp would be a first choice in our current 11 so you could argue he would be an ok signing but in general we need to aim higher. Signing players as short term cover won't get us in the playoffs.
  17. There wasn't enough fight today. Our only chance was to get stuck in and ruffle a few feathers. There was none of that. Burnley are not massively better than us but, in terms of quality, I would say every one of the their players are slightly better than every one of our players. They won all the individual battles all over the pitch and were in control for most of the match. We don't have anyone in our team that can control a match or make a difference against a decent team.
  18. In terms of FFP we have a big opportunity to spend during this window. No funds from the owners for 12 months and £millions of income from player sales has put us in a great position. It won't happen, of course, and the chance will soon be gone due to the 3 year rolling assessment of FFP. Venky's probably don't understand and even if they do, they don't care.
  19. I reckon the funds we currently have from player sales are already put aside for running costs. Venky's are loving the fact that they don't need to send any money from India. Suhail would not dare to spend significant money on players and then ask for replacement funds from India to cover running costs, especially when that would mean Venky's covering it with a bond. Lack of ambition, lack of interest, lack of understanding ( why do we need new players when we are already in the top 6?) - whatever it is, it's just another Venky January.
  20. Let's see if this January pans out to be exactly like all the previous Venky Januarys. I hope this one is different but based on the evidence, it's unlikely.
  21. I am undecided about Tronstad. He does break up play well and often seems to be in the right place at the right time. However, I think those attributes are so much in evidence because he is given zero responsibility as an attacking player. Good defensive midfielders should still contribute occasionally going forward. I don't think he does enough in that respect. If a creative midfielder did no defending whatsoever he would get criticised.
