  1. It’s a narrative the media wanted to portray. Its been pointed out on here recently, how much Man U have spent over the last 10 years. As Kenny said at the time, the money helps, but it’s not the be all and end all.
  2. All speculation. I simply keep myself sane on the subject, by thinking something was so dodgy at the takeover point, when they were mixed up with agents and rogues, that they are too scared to off load it. If they do sell it, someone doing their due diligence will out what happened and expose a bag full of corruption. Its probably not the real reason, but it helps me to sleep at night.
  3. I didn’t see Byrom the first time around, as it was before my time. I did see him play his final season for us too. I also remember Malcom Darling playing against us too, but can’t remember who he played for. His sister Stella Oldfield (née Darling) was a family friend and I remember her telling me her brother was playing against us, the night before the match. Does anyone remember who he played for?
  4. I need a beer after that. Great entertainment, but both teams were very open. Just a thought, would anyone swap a poor Lenihan for a very steady Hyam. Huge game Wednesday, if we win that, it’s a very good start., COYB 5,000 not out for our wonderful club.
  5. I thought GB came across very well. I am not one for accepting that everything that comes out of someone’s mouth is true, so really think this interview will make or break him. The next 5 league games and the cup game will define our season. If we can pick up 9 or 10 points and progress in the cup, it’s game on. If not, this interview will suddenly seem to have lots of platitudes in it.
  6. I second that and would say please bring it on, if the poster wants to start a pro ownership thread. I might be wrong, but suspect that al least 99% of the member on here (including Sympathetic Claret) consider these owners to be nothing but Charlatons. In the whole of my time supporting Rovers, I have never known anything feel like this. Having gone through relegations, agonising play off defeats (Palace being the worst one), agonising cup defeats and losses to our local rivals, the years of torment, these people have put us through, is 100 times worse than any of those out together. The sooner they are gone the better and I do wonder how any proper long term supporter can see it any differently.
  7. Perhaps the Indian authorities have been told that VLL was also set up as a poultry business but miss spelt it and it became paltry. The chicken adds in the early years, could have been a red herring.
  8. How “The club” can state that is beyond me and given how the owners are under investigation, for what appears to be a serious matter, then perhaps “The club” needs to carry out some further due diligence. I know meetings take place between Waggott and various groups, so perhaps the next key question, is why he came out bragging about paying the wages and leasing a new coach. Was he aware of what was really going on, or did he believe the narrative about the tax changes? Dependent on his answer to this and given that the investigation appears to be on going, perhaps a proper statement, about what the consequences and some assurances to the football authorities, needs to be forthcoming.
  9. The Fleetwood owner did and before he was tried, many people thought exactly that too.
  10. I would not for one minute doubt that, bit would think mortgage fraud anywhere in the world, would be pretty serious. Given that Barclays have been mentioned and perhaps funding secured on a UK property, that would fall under UK law too and as already mentioned, is a very serious matter.
  11. If found guilty of mortgage fraud, a defendant faces up to 12 months in jail and a fine on summary conviction, or, on indictment, to imprisonment for a maximum jail term of 10 years and/or a fine. I am a professional mortgage broker, so know this inside out.
  12. With a few £million to spare as a result of some rather dubious business dealings, what better place to spend it, than on a football club. Things do eventually catch up with people, as we saw with Abramovich and with this story too. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lancashire-65653943
  13. This has almost certain hit the light of day in the past, but seeing as I have never seen it, thought now might be a good time to bring it back out. Venky’s-owned Rovers confirm arrest of player on fixing charges - Hindustan Times
  14. I am sure someone on here can provide pretty accurate number and a detailed account of what has happened.
  15. If anyone thinks this is too small to matter, if you call HMRC and admit that you have understated your income by around £5k per year for the last 5 years, sit back and see what happens. Tax evasion, money laundering and fraud, are all serious offences, irrespective of the amounts. For these who are still a little unclear about what can happen to an owner of a football club, getting involved in this sort of activity, check out where the Fleetwood FC owner Andrew Piley, currently resides.
  16. The cash injections appear to have stopped don't they. With the CEO celebrating paying the wages and hiring a bus, then it looks to me like every month is about to become a struggle. I hope I can pay my mortgage, bills and keep my vehicle on the road, without the need for a handout this month.

  18. Again, wild theories abound about what has to some, seemed like a deliberate relegation and then a reluctance to make it back to the prem. Your theory, would make sense with a desire to also keep out of the limelight and plod along in the second or third tier. After all a club the size of Rovers, away from the bright lights of the prem, attracts almost no global exposure. A perfect foil to do this sort of thing.
  19. Lots of people have been lambasted for suggesting things such as money laundering was at the center of all this. Granted there have been some far fetched theories, but it has never made sense them owning us. I also suspect this is the tip of the iceberg too, but hopefully, this will grow and a proper investigation will now take place. Hopefully the club will not suffer too much, as after all the club is the fans ultimately and a hardcore of these fans, did try their very best to show, not only the sports authorities, but the wider government, that there were big issue with the purchase and running of the club. The cover up took place and maybe now, finally the truth is starting to come out.

  22. It won’t be that bad!!!! Money laundering is a very serious offense and could lead to the perpetrators being jailed. https://samistilegal.in/powers-of-the-enforcement-directorate-under-various-laws-and-the-rights-of-the-accused-aggrieved-persons/#:~:text=As per Section 6 of,a fugitive offender or not.
