Season Predictions 2020-2021
Hasta replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Goals conceded in our last 12 competitive games:- 3 3 1 1 2 3 2 2 1 3 2 That's gong to cripple us, and if we do become more sterile going forward we have big problems. At least we will have kept a few clean sheets in pre-season playing Blackpool and Fleetwood reserves. ? Centre-half, left back and striker in and keep everyone fit then top 6. As it is about 14th or 15th. -
The great is the enemy of the good.
-
If he had made a few sub appearances and an odd start and then been bombed out I would agree with @islander200. However, he hasn't had a "proper chance" (presuming that means a run of games) because in the 40 odd appearances for the first team he has made he hasn't looked very good. He will get more chances now as we have allowed 2 strikers to leave and brought none in. Financially, we couldn't afford to blow £7 million on a dud. That mistake has already been made. Jeopardising results by not accepting this would be a second mistake.
-
That doesn't answer the question I asked. Regardless of how well regarded he was as a 17 year old, if he isn't performing on the pitch now then he shouldn't be playing.
-
So you would play him from a financial perspective, even if it affected team results and performances? Why does Brereton deserve a run of game but someone like JRC or Buckley doesn't? It probably a better financial gamble that one of them comes good and we get a decent fee for them than getting a decent fee for Brereton.

Spidey sporting the new Rovers away kit there.
-
I don't need to. They aren't the ones trying to tell me it's not allowed by EFL rules which has just been proven incorrect. Theres no debate to be had. If Rovers change their shorts they can wear their home kit against red and white stripes. We choose not to. Not that i see I think as a major issue. If we have an away kit and use it when we play away that's fine. But you really should be able to design kits without the need to a third kit.
-
So why did sheff Wednesday wear their home kit at stoke last season? https://youtu.be/0p6tvsRz0nk
-
To boost commercial revenue and justify having an away kit to sell Chaddy. We choose to wear the away kit. We don't have to. FA Cup versus Stoke in 2015. Didn't even change shorts.

The product (match experience) which we are paying for is severely diluted from that which we normally experience. Plus the number of games that can actually be attended is reduced. And if there are any further outbreaks or problems you will also be forced to miss more games. Under those circumstances, many people would be doubting whether to get a season ticket regardless of the price. Do you think that is the ideal scenario for the clubs to be raising season ticket prices? "There's no walk-ons this season Steve. How we going to claim the Waggot Tax" "Hmmm. Let's try a loyalty tax.

We won't. But we might have about 5 social distancing in my mates garage watching the iFollow coverage.

See my above post in July. Everything still stands except we now know that it is going to cost more than previous.

Sunderland Netflix documentary
Hasta replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'd say it's interesting and will watch it through. Its not the enthralling car crash of the first Sunderland documentary though. Its shows a bit about what happens behind the scenes but I just feel Spurs have had a bit of license to edit this as a PR piece. I doubt there will be much in it to paint anybody at the club in a bad light (I've also watched 2 episodes) -
I agree from previous, but J*B will be known as The Postman by 5pm. ?

Mulgrew was at fault for which goal? The first one where Darragh gets under the ball (not helped by the full back)? Or the second where Darragh gets beaten in the air from a corner? https://youtu.be/mcNk3BlAOCw
-
Good defender for us, and certainly not someone who needs replacing, but still not commanding enough in the air for my liking. Mulgrew got panned, blamed and shipped out for our opening day defeat to Charlton, but it was Leninan at fault for both goals that day which came from high balls into the box. As Joe eludes to, his problem isn't necessarily that he doesn't jump high enough and win balls in the air. It's that he is in the wrong position or makes a wrong choice as the ball is coming in. Fortunately, even though he is not a youngster any more, I think that's something a 26 year old centre half can still improve on.
-
As it is international weekend, Leicester will have many first team players missing for this one. If we get beaten by their reserve side, some people's brains on here will short circuit.
-
May sign for West Brom. May not. Bit in paper.
-
One way or another that is true. Time will tell which side of this debate those 'idiots' were on. The 12 goal a season bar is set.
-
You've spent the last 2 years in cloud cuckoo land mate. He has been awful for most of his spell here, and shown little in regards to skill. At the end of last year, in his "improved form" since lockdown, he had one game where I would class him as good. Someone corrected me when I said this last week that in fact he had two good games. Woohoo, Now yesterday he did ok in the second half, helpled by his contribution to both goals. Keep that up for a couple of months and I will revise my opinion on him. However we bought him as a striker and he will never be a 12 goal a season man. He's happiest running with the ball, but almost wants to knock it past the defenders out wide and charge past them. Everybody wants him to do well and score goals. But people are now marking up his performances because they want him to do well, rather than based on what he actually does.

Doncaster Rovers (H) CARABAO CUP RND1 - Sat 29th Aug
Hasta replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I would rather he had a more attacking threat, but as long as the defender defends well that's the main thing. Henning Berg played right back to win the premier league in 1995 and maybe got one assist all season (?) You wouldn't say that wasn't good enough as he was a key cog in a solid defensive unit. The usual comeback to that is that the game has changed and you need assists from both your full backs nowadays, but Fulham have just proved that you don't. Just as West Brom have just proved you don't need to shoe-horn left footers into your defensive or midfield paternerships for 'balance', another over-complicated myth. Is Nyambe the best denfensive full back we have? Clearly yes in my opinion (although I wouldn't my say he's a great player, more the others are poorer) If we replace him with a better defender then fine. But first and foremost he has to defend. Who is better going forward between Bell and Nyambe? Who is the better full back? It's. It not even close. -

So you don't need your right back to be attack minded to be successful. My mind is well and truly blown. You'll be telling me you can get promoted with two right-footed centre halves and two right-footed central midfielders next. ?? What do you mean that's what West Brom did !!! ??? -

So are you saying they wanted their defence to simply defend well, and didn't worry about their defenders helping out with offensive duties? And this meant they conceded less goals? Wow. Revolutionary. -

How did Fulham get promoted if full back Dennis Odoi only got 1 assist? I don't understand it. -
