The clubs accepted the shit show but they didn't create it. It was the clubs who wanted more money. It was Sky Sports that wanted EFL fixtures on Thursday and Friday nights and don't care with their picks which fans are inconvenienced. So they are both to blame. What don't you get?
-
That doesn’t make it right. What am I meant to do, plan my calendar for Friday nights only 4 weeks in advance at this stage of the season. It means I’ve bought a season ticket and it’s another game I’ve been fucked over for. Still, at least rovers have used the extra money to pay fat cat Waggots increased salary and bonus.

I can’t easily. It’s a group thing. We will have a meal booked after and then a minibus coming back.

Oh fuck off. Announced about 4 hours after I bought Aintree tickets for the 4th.

v Derby County (a) - 8/3/2025

I was going to quote but you beat me to it, we ultimately competed well but couldn't break down what is an exceptional resolute defence. And they managed to take the one chance that came along. It's hardly bottling it. Similar story last time we played them at Ewood. JDT bottled the Turf game. -
Plymouth have the biggest problem. 25 of their 30 points have come at home. However they've still got Sheff United, Leeds and an in-form Coventry to come to Home Park. Most of the games left against bottom half sides are away. Their home game with Derby next weekend will be huge

Derby don't concede a lot for a team at the bottom of the league, and we don't score a lot. They don't score a lot either. Eustace will be negative and try and grind points out. 0-0 -

So you think literally the minute Tronstadt come on, it coincided with Norwich deciding if to change their gameplan and settle for a point. Ok. I believe playing Forshaw instead of getting a replacement of a similar quality to Baker has cost us what could be significant points in January. Yesterday quite starkly enforced that view for me. -

They were dominating literally to the point the substitutions were made. Then it switched. If they had ultimately settled for the draw before the red card, it was because the momentum of the game had changed following the substitutions. I'm fairly sure they werent dominating up until the hour point and then thought "yeah that's enough lads, we're getting at their back 4 at will but lets start sitting back and defending a bit deeper now. Let Blackburn have the ball a bit more" -

He’s fine keeping it simple on the ball, but without it he’s just not good enough. He’s slow and gets bypassed too easily. Situations he’s in where you expect a holding midfielder to come out with the ball or break up play they seem to just come through us. It happened today. I pointed it out within 6 minutes at Swansea last week. Hedges didn’t come on until the 76th minute, and by that point rovers were back in the ascendancy. That wasn’t entirely down to Tronstadt as we also replaced the ineffective Dolan and Cantwell, but he did play a big part of it. Forshaw works hard but simply hasn’t got what it takes anymore in a two man midfield against the better sides in this league. -

First half we had more of the attacking positions but they had the best two chances. Second half we were getting overrun until Tronstadt come on for Forshaw, who once again looked out of his depth. The big positive is that once Tronstadt was on, the balance of the game shifted back in Rovers favour until the sending off. Him and Trav are going to be absolutely key from here on in. -

Yeah but in reality he sees the goalkeeper on the floor, doesn’t know what has happened so just gives a free kick. It’s the easy way out for the ref. 9/10 times it wouldn’t be mentioned again. If he’s being honest he hasn’t got a clue what happened, and the fact he spoke to Dolan just proves it. If Hyam gets no further action it’s cos the ref can’t admit he gave what he hadn’t seen, which is fine with me. -

The referee couldn’t have seen it (properly) as he spent 30 seconds trying to reprimand Dolan before somebody (Dolan, their player or Travis) told him it was Hyam. Then he went over and spoke to Hyam. The referee had no idea what had happened. -

I can’t grumble at the line up. You can grumble at the January recruitment in midfield -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

I put it in jest above, but if we still had a programme and those were Ismael’s first notes in said programme nobody would bat an eyelid. -

I wouldn’t get to bothered about the letter. He probably just wrote it as his first program notes and the club just didn’t want it to go to waste. -

I wouldn't like to make a call if Toth playing regularly would be better or worse than Pears. We just havent seen enough. But without doubt Wahlstedt, on a general game by game performance, was worse. Pears now and again just throws in the more spectacular stinker than Leo did. -

I think he just lacked charisma for me. I probably said the same about Eustace. Don't get me wrong. He could just sit there and go "yeah, y'know, erm, y'know" for 15 minutes and if he gets results it doesn't matter. -

Ok but just states the obvious that a new manager should be saying. Doesn’t give the ‘working class hero talk’ warmth that Uncle Tony did. In his first interview. Not that it did us any good long term. -

Pretty disappointed. Well down my list of preferred candidates from those linked. However several of you will be pleased to know I will “give him a chance” -
A more interesting quote from that article:- "Despite the poor start to the season, it was a surprise to see Ismael rewarded with a new contract recently, and it is clear to see that the Frenchman has pretty much complete control over all aspects of the first-team at Watford - that includes transfers after the services of technical director Ben Manga were recently no longer required." Sure he's going to love what Rudy gives him over the summer.

1/10 now. Looks like it's done. Good luck to him. He may need it.

Yes. They sacked Darren Moore, brought Bilic in and got promoted the following season.
