January Transfer window 2022
Silas replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yeah, you're right, makes no sense looking now. Guess i was thinking cos we never have a pot to piss in on transfers, but used to chuck wages round like confetti, but that's why we're 200 mill in debt right. I remember now. Think I've just been hoping for the full model (Prem in particular) to change for a while. Those ridiculous fees it got to of 150/200 mill, no club in the World can afford that. So Spanish ones all go bust. Agent fees too. Yes, they'd still get a cut of the new contracts, but hell of a lot less than transfer cuts. So, no incentive to push players around. Maybe wouldn't benefit us individually, but got to be a more sensible future for football. -

Ha, and that's why it's all thoroughly depressing. I don't hate JR, whatever, hate the game and all that. Timing just sucks with 3.5 months of destiny to go. My only hope from the cloud is that this is future, death of big transfer fees, and players just hop from club to club and pick up a nice bonus instead. Would be a system to benefit a club like Rovers. -

And I'm going to tell every manager in the game what a little prick you've been. And I've been around since the dinosaurs pal, so i know everyone. Enjoy Bournemouth, cos you ain't getting a decent club after that. ππ -
I'm starting get the impression this signing hasn't impressed you Sparks. π Says it all that this thread is over 48hrs old and we've only just got to 2nd page. Good luck to the lad though. Maybe he's a dark horse. He could shock us and write his name in history firing the club to promotion. I think the last attacker from Scotland I got excited about was Goodwillie. Oops. Still makes me chuckle when his name comes up on Soccer Saturday from some pub league. Hopefully I'm as wrong about this one!

Premier League season 21/22

Exactly the word that came to my mind. They think they can have whatever they want, whenever they want it. Hopefully they'll make an example of him with a heavy sentence, send a message to the next few generations of multi millionaire teenage footballers. -
And Darragh doesn't get a look in for an Ireland team that got beat by Luxembourg last year. Doesn't always mean much.

Wow, Butterworth score is brutal at moment. He's really struggling to make an impact in the 1st team.

This is information i was unaware of. And I've been here hating for a while. But he went on strike and refused to play no? Why need to do that if club was in on it? Or was that just spin? -

Samba's captain for me, but many seem to give him a free pass, i suppose cos of the odious Kean factor. Even went to a poxy Russian club, wouldn't have minded as much if he went somewhere decent. At least if Brentford JR is upgrading, for now. -

I'll be honest, i think I'm a bit ageist when it comes to him. So easy to get on board with the notion of youth there in the likes of Buckley and Davenport. Plus I've got PTSD from Murphy and Etuhu. π€·ββοΈ -

Wasn't so long ago i was questioning the heart and fight in this team. Now we have Lenihan not even flinching at a mashed up nose, Gally chasing down tackles in 90+ mins, loan signings busting a gut for the club. New signings galloping down the wing. This is unreal. Well done to all involved, to a man absolutely brilliant. (I'm giving u a pass Johnson cos I'm in such a good mood.) πππ -

Those well known ref decisions that all go our way recently. Suppose we're due one. We're gonna need some slice of luck. -
What a weekend, really entertaining stuff. That Chiefs/Bills game was an ATG. Two great quarterbacks at the top of their game. How the hell Mahomes saves his team with 13 seconds on the clock. π€ Bills should have kicked off in field, yeah you risk a big return from the special team, but if you contain them you probably drain 5 or 6 seconds off the clock, and it's pretty much game over. Hindsight though i suppose. Hat's off to both teams though. Would have been a good superbowl that match.

If Adam Armstrong isn't getting on the pitch in matches like this, he can't have much of a future at Southampton. With his pace he's surely the perfect outlet against a City highline on the counterattack. Not really storming it is he. Maybe he's a perennial Championship player. -
Awesome. So a club regularly blooding youngsters and giving players a chance gets punished, and clowns like Chelsea hogging youth talent, never playing them, and abusing the loan system gets rewarded. Sounds like another fair and common sense rule being implemented in the football world. π

What about the couple nailed on last min pens we've got away with? Or was that last season? It's all blending into 1 for me during this bloody pandemic.
-
I agree but probably what would save him is that his foot was near the ball. Don't get me wrong he knew 99.9% he wasn't getting there, and it was a desperate foul to stop a goal, but the vicinity of his foot in the right general area would qualify for the double jeapordy rule.
-
Yeah, course they're breaking on us dickheads cos we're chasing the game as we've been robbed twice. They never seen a football match before.
-
The panic in Gallagher when he realised he was clear and needed to control the ball was palpable. Should be the opposite. Should relish that opportunity.
-
No genuine attempt made to win the ball, and that close to goal. Unreal.

Jesus Christ, what is with everyone tonight? Second person to say this. I have never once even insinuated vaping is "healthy". Let's use the term harmful for clarification. It was said vaping wasn't less harmful than smoking. I'm saying it is "less harmful", categorically, it's not even close (95%), and pretty much every medical organization agrees unanimously. And yet I'm being called out for it. π€ Not smoking, and not vaping are both by far the best choices anyone can make in their lives. Because, as has been said, nicotine is one of the most addictive substances around. Some have said sugar may be close but I won't take us down that rabbit hole.
-
I'm done arguing, I'm just stating it as fact now: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/dec/28/vaping-is-95-safer-than-smoking-claims-public-health-england British Medical Journal the same, as I've already said, NHS too. The rest of points on it made by people fair enough, all seem valid. Just interesting how people rate the different "bad" substances. The obesity/sugar/diabetes crisis in youngsters is far more harmful at present than vaping imo, but no one would bat an eyelid if Mars or Snickers was going on the shirt. Hard to know where to draw the line. I suppose there was a fair bit of pushback on Macdonald's and Coke sponsoring recent football competitions. Just you take out alcohol, tobacco, gambling, all sugary products, all fatty products, all loan companies....then what you left with? Maybe cars? Nope, they're polluting the planet so can't do that till they all go electric. There's a hell of a lot clubs that need sponsors and a dwindling pool of companies to oblige, particularly after the pandemic.
-
Different World an eternity ago. If you picked up today's scientists/medical professionals and plonked them back then they'd identify smoking as bad in about 2 days. (Also a lot of corruption back then). They've been looking at vaping in depth for a decade plus now. Totally get the encouraging children/crap branding angle though.

C'mon, let's not get silly with statements. The NHS specifically says different: Did you know? E-cigarettes are far less harmful than smoking cigarettes and can help you quit. NHS website link
