  1. Went in expecting to hear Mark Morrison. Left disappointed. Great to see him back on a football pitch tho.
  2. I must have been living in a cave. That's International break for you. Was news to me. ☺ To be honest if Kaminski is going to be out for a while I'd seriously contemplate it as an option.
  3. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/international/belgium-vs-england-team-news-lineups-b1722390.html%3famp Just read TM has tested positive for Covid. Really bad news. We just can't catch a break this season. We've looked much more assured with him in nets. Will miss at least 2 games, maybe 3. Are all the other Championship clubs having the same nightmare with injuries/covid isolation? I genuinely have no idea. Just feels a bit like we have a really competitive squad this season, but it's all counting for nought, as we can't get the squad on the training pitch, never mind match day. Edit- quote from article: "Belgium goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, a late call-up, has withdrawn from the hosts’ squad after testing positive for Covid-19."
  4. I was thinking more he's now got Holtby and potentially Elliott to compete with that he didn't last time. Plus Brereton's rise from the ashes. Makes me think could he almost be a replacement for the Graham role. Or am I losing my marbles?! Impact from the bench when we need a goal. Put him up top in odd game when Armstrong is injured/suspended. I still see him as a No.10 personally, but is interesting to ponder where his position might fall in the team over the next 6 months or so.
  5. Looks like the messageboard only seems to go back to 2018 as far as I can see. Maybe it's been archived to free up space on a server or something. Either way, right now, no one can prove anyone right or wrong. Out of interest Sparks what's your opinion on Dack now? Some pretty disparaging comments there from last year. Obviously, we don't know how he will bounce back from serious injury. But if he comes back to fitness exactly same as before, where do u place him in the current hierarchy? Best player? Definate name on teamsheet? Squad player?
  6. That was certainly the reputation he had back then. I was sat next to Spurs fans at 2002 cup final and they spent the whole game slagging him, saying exactly that. "Cole is ****! He needs 4 or 5 efforts to score. No way we get beat by a team with him leading the line." The smug grin on my face when he scored the winner. ? I muttered something like " Was that effort 4 or 5?!" Fair play to them, they said congratulations, you were better team and deserved the win at final whistle before they left.
  7. It's one thing being biased, it's another thing coming across like it's the 1st game of football you've ever watched. For example, when teams time waste I don't really get mad at the player, it's to be expected right, i get mad at the ref for not getting on top of it. One of them said something like: "I can't believe Blackburn have it slowed it down to a snail's pace." I'm thinking can't you?! Because I've seen it about a thousand times before so not much of a surprise is it.
  8. One of them sarcastically went: "Looks like the keeper is 'thinking' about taking the goal kick." Got a full on chuckle from me that. Did you hear them heap praise on Rothwell? Said he was tidy, busy player with bags of talent and we'd be a much better team with him back.
  9. The cog for settings in top right corner has options for home or away. Thought I'd give away a try today, they did not disappoint. Obviously, probably would have been a different experience if we'd lost. To be fair to them, they did give credit for both our break away goals, and said how good the passes were to cut them open.
  10. Highlight of the match for me was listening to the QPR commentators from the 85th min onwards. The bitching, whining, and crying that was blasting out my tablet was a joy to behold. Nyambe's injury, the substitution, Kaminski's goal kick and free kick - all met with howls of derision. It was like they'd never seen this new, groundbreaking tactic before. Astounded that the team in the lead didn't have it's players rushing all over the pitch. At one point they even claimed we knocked it into touch because we knew disinfection would slow the game down. "They're taking advantage of Covid procedures there." ?? They also called Johnson a fat git in the 1st half. "He's not exactly come with his beach body has he!" "Looks like he's had a few pies recently to me." Not the most professional pair. Added entertainment to my afternoon though.
  11. Brother of Joe Willock that is doing well for Arsenal recently.
  12. His reaction makes me chuckle. He's like WTF! ? Full disclosure though, the Saints player had put his finger through the face grill and poked Wims in the eye the play before. Hence the reaction.
  13. Hey Greg, how you doing? Hope you've recovered ok from all the medical issues you were having. Always good when another poster gets more involved. You should get stuck into the main boards. New opinions always welcome. Don't worry if you have to "chip in and then disappear". I do it all the time.??
  14. Things got a bit feisty in the NFL at the weekend. Saw a tweet- Things that got hurt by this: 1. Javon Wims hand 2. Javon Wims bank balance 3. Javon Wims professional reputation 4. Javon Wims team's chance of winning the game Things that were not hurt by this: The other player!
  15. That tirade was building up such a head of steam.......and then this sentence happened.
  16. Someone said it in the match thread at the time. Was obvious we weren't getting anything from the game, why risk it. Could understand if we were pushing for an equaliser.
  17. Few prediction sites I look at sometimes, not one of them has us down for a win. 4 sites = 0-1, 1-1, 0-2, 1-1. Even the neutrals have lost confidence in us. ??
  18. Yeah, let's see how AJ does v Pulev. Depending on the performance I would maybe take Usyk for the win for a bit of fun. I've just lost all confidence in AJ. Not because he got decked by Ruiz. Hey, it's heavyweight boxing, can happen to anyone. I don't subscribe to the fat mexican BS. It's more AJ's mindset. He was fighting so scared in the rematch. And not just that, it's the interviews he's done since. I look in his eyes and I'm not sure he even has the same confidence in his abilities. I'm not a hater. I like the guy. Think most of the hate comes from jealousy of the astronomical sums of money he's earnt. That, and everyone loves seeing someone knocked off their pedestal. If he looks good v Pulev and I see the confidence back, he may win me over. But a weak performance where he looks scared of getting hit, and I'll be starting to think he's never going to get a Champion's mindset back.
  19. Yeah, fair point. Hadn't really thought about it like that. He certainly seems to get a pass for the testing furore and ban, whereas other boxers are tarred and feathered. Haven't said what the bets gonna be yet. ? Not welshing, but for example, my offer might be he definately lasts 8 rds and is also up on cards at that point. Seems you two think he gets blasted out in 5 or something. Anyway, would all depend on the opponent. Let's see what the future brings.
  20. If boxing was just about size then we'd all be rich from picking the winner of a fight everytime. It's a bit wordy, but if you're interested read the first couple of posts in this thread. He breaks it down well. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/a-helpful-guide-in-processing-the-win-over-chisora-by-the-charismatic-enigma-that-is-oleksandr-usyk.657740/ A few highlights: So Del Boy knowing all of this, came out guns blazing, trying to impose his size on Usyk and ragdoll him around the ring. And unlike most fighters at Heavyweight, Chisora is actually capable of executing this strategy to perfection, since it's literally his style... Take the style that gave Fury issues, like Wallin, well Usyk does everything better than Wallin. The style that gave AJ problems, like Parker and Ruiz, Usyk does everything better than they do. The styles that have given Wilder issues, slick southpaws, Szpilka and Ortiz, Usyk is far slicker, with far better stamina than both of them. But the people who seem to have convinced themselves that it will be a walk in the park for the Big 3, you're deluding yourselves. I agree with at lot of what he says. I reckon Usyk could be a real contender in the heavyweight division, for the next couple years at least. If I end up with egg on my face for saying that, then so be it. Tell you what, if/when he gets matched with one of the big boys, come back to me, we'll have a little charity bet. He's a very accomplished boxer, and to be quite frank, AJ is massively overrated. No-one likes to hear it, but Joshua was expertly managed by Eddie Hearn during his pro career after the London Olympics. His achievements far outweigh his talent. His bank balance certainly does. Hearn may not be good be for boxing fans, but he's a magician for most of his fighters. Tony Bellew has double digit millions in the bank for instance.
  21. Dubois is the next Mike Tyson though. All aboard the hype train....choo choo! I'm in carriage C getting stuck into the drinks trolley. ? I think you and Tomphil maybe getting me wrong. I'm not saying some of them don't beat him, it was the term "ragdoll" I was struggling with. He's got far too much experience and ring IQ for that to happen imo. If the likes of AJ and Wilder beat him, it's probably Rd 5/6 onwards with him up 4 rds up, and then yes, their power may take over and put him to sleep. I don't see them bullying him like some folk say. He's not that bloody small. And if gets to later rounds with him well up on points then fighters will start getting desperate. And he could well take advantage of that and pick them off. Imagine if the supposed small fry sparked out one of the main contenders. ??? Anyway, shud be fun to watch, let's get it on.
  22. I guarantee you Wilder and AJ don't get anywhere near to ragdolling Usyk. He's 6"3 btw. Wilder could well "ice" him, but he can do that to anyone. Hughie Fury?! My word, Usyk is so many levels above him it's not even worth putting on. You're right, no way anyone pays to sanction that fight. Parker maybe. But at 33 Usyk doesn't have time to piss about. He wants to fight the best, so let's crack on and do it.
  23. Seems like there's an echo in here. The same echo I've been hearing for years and years - (it's a hell of a big cave we all inhabit, and boy is it dark!) So how come us average joe fans can see this clear as day, but the experienced professionals paid millions of pounds struggle to see the light?! We all joke how we concede 2 goals every game, and therefore need 3 goals to win. Last 5 matches = 10 goals conceded (And I suggest if Coventry hadn't gone down to 10 men so early they would have bagged 1 or 2 goals too). So, I console myself with the notion that we're good attackers nowadays, we bang in the goals right?! That's what it feels like. Last 6 matches = We've been nilled 3 times. So we're only scoring in 50% of matches. Then my head gets in a spin.....I lose the will to live..... and come to the conclusion that we're just generally......SHIT!! And have been for a long time. Then I remember how excited and optimistic i was a mere 3 weeks ago on deadline day, the anger and rage builds up inside of me, and I go sit in the corner of a dark room and gently rock. ??? Happy pre lockdown Sunday everyone! ?
  24. I think he has a good chance against AJ. Fury would easily beat him.
  25. Absolutely, I get sucked in everytime. What can I say, I love the sport. And like with Rovers I'm an eternal optimist. Always think a humdinger of a scrap will break out and I'll miss it. Pretty sure I paid for Bellew Cleverley. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️ Yep, folk like me are the reason Eddie drives a Bugati, I'm fully aware of that.
