  1. Levy doesn't mess about, he's got very little time left surely.
  2. Good point, never thought about the player angle. I remember when he called David Luiz "..someone being controlled by a 10 year old on a playstation". 😂 Anyway, Darren Lewis nailed it for me last night on Talksport (first 2 mins of link): https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1635444000/1635449400/ When Man Utd fan Hugh Woozencroft said he was going to "..plead the Gary Neville" and refuse to call for Ole's head, Darren's response was: "There's a distinction between baiting managers and being a baying mob, and basically doing our job, which is to assess a football team, and say is the guy in charge of that football team doing his job? We can all sit on the sidelines and say 'Oh we want to be polite, we don't want to say this or say that'. But every week we are seeing one of the biggest clubs in the Country.. (fail)...and we're gonna to sit here and say we shouldn't say the truth because someone might lose their job." 👏👏👏
  3. C'mon Mike, that's all very noble but we aren't talking about P45ing factory workers here barely covering their mortgage or rent payments. We're talking about people being handed big fat cheques like Bruce's £8 million. We would call that winning the lottery. But obviously, we're very different to them. Which matters. Different jobs matter too. I wouldn't ask the greengrocer to run into the burning building, but I would the firefighter. And I expect my pundits not to shy away from an honest opinion. What happens if Utd lose the next 3 matches against Spurs, Atalanta, and City. Not impossible. Is Gary still gonna be there saying give him the full season? Because we would all know that to be complete bollocks.
  4. Pretty sure I would, no doubt. But here's one for you, if I did, I certainly wouldn't be slagging off the fans, because I would understand why they were angry, as I knew what a shambles it was behind the scenes. That's what doesn't add up to me. The way he attacks us and defends them is way beyond 'towing the party line'. It would be easy enough to do a few token gestures, put on a bit of a show for the bosses. He does it with real gusto and passion (probably the most he shows on any topic). If you were constantly having the rug pulled out from under you, you'd cash your paycheck, say yes sir, no sir, whilst secretly giving them the finger behind your back. Does Tony strike you as someone in that position? Definite no for me.
  5. I'm just reading that as issues with finances and transfer dealings. Which we kind of already knew. Line a player up, agree fee, agree terms, only for the numpties in India to blow it all last minute by refusing final sign off. Would be frustrating as hell after all the effort has gone in previously. But I genuinely don't see how the owners can be massively influencing the club on a day to day and week to week basis. They appear to just leave TM and his staff to get on with things. Interesting story though.
  6. Does that not undermine his pretty good reputation as a pundit though. What, every manager should stay at every club forever until they decide to leave. That's madness. Take Mick McCarthy at Cardiff. I like him, and like others, have wished him to be at Rovers at various stages in the past. But that doesn't change my view that he had to go after Cardiff's dismal run. Surely as a pundit you have to call a spade a spade. You can't be all nicey nicey- "I would never call for manager to be sacked, that's someone's livelihood..." etc etc Yeah, we get all that, but you're paid very handsomely to give your 'expert' opinion. So should that manager stay or go?! Sorry, if you can't answer direct questions like that, you shouldn't be a pundit. And I'm a fan of Gary, but he's lost me on this one.
  7. Didn't realise Gary had been making making topical references last Monday on Sky. Not quite sure what the weasel has to do with Man Utd's current shambles. Maybe Gary should get on the phone and see if Steve's free to come replace Ole. He does have a history of winning at OT, not sure if that was ever mentioned.
  8. Pretty much word for word, I've just cut out his waffle of "errr from my point of view....errr at this moment in time.." Yeah, we know Tony. Because you're in a press conference...being asked your point of view....right this moment in time! 🤬🤬 While we're on time he asked: "How far do you want to go back, do you want to go back 3 years, or do you want to go back 30 years?" What's with the stupid riddles? He's one step off chatting about seagulls and trawlers. God what I'd do to be the reporter. My answer would be: "I'm mainly interested in 2 very specific times Tony, 5 years ago when you took over the club, and right here today. Can you run through what progress has been made at the club in between those two points?" No doubt the answer would be: "Errr pandemic, errr young players, 3 matches in a week, clubs relegated from the Premier League, errrr Shearer/Sutton, 1995.......errr I respect the fans and they're welcome to their opinion.."
  9. "It's very hard to criticise the football club and heirarchy........because they lose 20 million pound a year......" Wtf is this nonsense. That's the exact reason to criticise it. If losing money is the criteria for success he must think Derby County are the best run club in the Country. In fact, at least Derby took the gamble and tried to achieve something, got to a playoff final and it could well have turned out different for them. We lose the money without even trying anything. Like bumping into your pal at the pub: "Had a nightmare today, lost £50 at the bookies, really weird cos I didn't even put a bet on." 🤔 That's how big a losers the club is at the moment, and he's trying to justify it like we're the idiots. Infuriating.
  10. Not even the highest ever Euromillions won last week would rescue this club, that's how bad things are. But don't be negative about it, start trying to see the positives, remember we're all just moaners and whingers on this forum. 🙄
  11. Certainly feels that way. I can't picture a team with fight in it since the trend was set with the pathetic surrenders to Spurs & Wigan when we got relegated. In fact it feels like the last battling team had Robbie Savage in it ffs. But maybe my memory is being harsh.
  12. It's a 24% win average. Which Google has told me is the exact figure for relegation from the Premier League. I'm aware we're not in the PL, I don't have the will for life to bother researching the Championship, prefer for us all to agree it's absolute dogshit, for what feels like an eternity.
  13. Looks like just a knock from a strong challenge. Not too worrying.
  14. Not sure such people exist in 2021, so no biggie. Am thinking the stadium chat is probably best done in OT in relation to knife crime, keep this thread for sport. 👍
  15. The reasons are irrelevant to me, therefore so is any wrong information or rumours. If the club doesn't manage to sign up players on new contracts who would be important assets to the club then it is a failure, full stop. Of course you don't blow your salary cap, but this isn't one or two players, it's a handful of them. If all these players are not keen to sign up then there has to be 'a reason'. Could be money, ambition, bad atmosphere at club, manager, owners etc etc. What does it matter? We're fans on a forum so obviously going to speculate, but really the actual reason(s) are immaterial, the only thing that matters is that they clearly exist. Is there another club out there in the whole Football League potentially about to lose such a high percentage of their best starting 11 through contracts running out? 🤔 I genuinely don't know, but doubt there's many, if any. (Derby maybe). Stinks of rank bad management from top to bottom and over an extended time period. Sorry, but no amount of "You don't know what I know!" is going to change my opinion on it currently. If a bombshell comes to light that clears it all up and makes me wrong I'll eat humble pie. But at the moment, I'll stand by my anger at the situation, which is growing day by day. And couldn't care less which rumours are true or BS. That's just like the "but we played well" argument. Counts for sod all if you don't get the result. And the result here is names on dotted lines.
  16. Very good point. I'd love him to be asked questions like this when he rambles on about Brentford.
  17. Anything would surely be a huge improvement on whatever level he speaks now.
  18. Spain would make perfect sense for Ben I just realised. If he's potentially going to play for Chile the next 10 years he'll want to get fluent in the language. Hadn't thought of that before. Could well be where he'd want to go.
  19. Send it SoccerAM. Can see Jimmy Bullard getting in on a bit of that action. Could be their celebration dance after scoring penalty in ProAm.
  20. He's a young professional footballer at semi top level. I'd expect him to head which ever direction offers more money and opportunity to play at highest level. Ideally, the best combination of the two. Won't make me any less pissed if we lose a fortune on him and he goes on to smash it elsewhere. Won't blame him for it though. If I imagine he's a mate of mine asking for advice, and I took the blue/white specs off, I really don't like the thoughts that come to mind.
  21. Seconded. They were insufferably arrogant fans when they were crap, imagine how unbearable it will be when they get good.
  22. People talk differently when in an informal setting than when in a professional environment. I know loads of scousers and geordies similar. Probably explains it. I once spent a brief amount of time with the Dalglish family, and couldn't understand a bloody word Kenny said. Any questions he asked me I just nodded, said 'Yes', and hoped for the best. But whenever he's on TV every word is clear as day. Your story checks out.
  23. Does happen. They might have something in the small print about computer glitches. Like in @simongarnerisgod's example if a technical error had added zeroes to turn 2 to 1 into 200 to 1, they might have a get out. But that hasn't happened with the BB bet. They are bona fide odds. So they would have to stand by them. Anyway, this guy still got his 1.7 million after computer error, albeit he had to legally fight for 3 years: https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/man-wins-court-battle-over-betfreds-refusal-to-pay-out-1-7m-jackpot-12268508
  24. Hell of a stat, do you know the time period/matches played for each?
  25. Yeah, it instantly exposed our lack of cover in defence in the space of about half hour.
