  1. You know you've got problems when you're relying on Rovers to bring some joy to life. God help us all. 😧😧
  2. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it. No apologies necessary. If it helps you getting it out, that's good, but also your story might just help others out there. If we don't speak about these things, we're often destined to repeat the cycles. And no-one should have to go through what you've experienced. Good luck man. Keep fighting the fight. Keith Treacy has mainly told his story with the aim of helping professional footballers. But it's even got us plebs focusing on a very important societal issue. Just shows that being brave enough to speak out can have a positive affect. All the best to all of you Rovers out there, I wish health and happiness on you and your family and friends. Condolences for all those that departed too soon.
  3. Yeah, maybe timescale a bit out, more like 18 months to 2 years. But not sure when showing concern for the team for the upcoming season started deserving abuse. Argue the toss, sure, but just name calling. Nah. But I suppose that's the toxic nature of Twitter.
  4. So which one are you? A bellend or a t**t? 🤔 Perhaps we need a poll. 😂
  5. Very sad tales, and condolences and RIP to both individuals. No ages for life to end. Don't want to pry and open up wounds - (feel free to tell me to piss off) - but were spirits the main cause? We've got quite a bit alcoholism in my family, and I like a good drink. But mainly beer and wine. In my head that's way more manageable than the 40% proof stuff. But I've always wondered if I'm deluding myself. It seems Keith's problem was the hard stuff too.
  6. It's coming home, it's coming home... ....rugby league's coming home!! 😀😀 It won't. We'll bottle it and cancel.
  7. Second time in a week I've been proud of a losing England team. After that fantastic innings by Pakistan, the old England would have buckled under scoreboard pressure, and been embarrassingly skittled. But not this new breed. They took it on and believed all the way. I swear there's been a shift in mindset across most of our national sports. We don't fear anyone anymore. Win or lose, we're comfortable taking the opponent on. All except Rugby League imo. We're still in awe of those Aussies in that code. And they have had that notch of quality above us for a long time now.
  8. I suppose factually he was correct Mike. They definitely aren't here anymore. So it wasn't a lie....more an extremely twatty thing to say. And there's been many of them. Can't wait to see what gems we get this season. 🙄
  9. No doubt. In an alternate universe he's behind bars for the best part of a decade.
  10. For comparison purposes, this week UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping was punched on the street in New Orleans. His reaction? To laugh in the guy's and face and walk off. Suppose that's probably the difference between a true champion and a journeyman. Although Bisping does admit there would have been a different result in his younger days.
  11. Break it down though Dreams. The guy bumped into Shilling (who took a step to the right to try and avoid him, wasn't one of those sticking the shoulder in). They bump, big deal, Schilling is walking off, not interested, happy to carry on his day. Then the guy clearly says something to him, so he turns back. If you look closely the guy then squares up and does a flex twitch, intended to make someone flinch. Probably a move he's done before to great hilarity, to try and embarrass. Schilling's response to such a move is to instantly drop him. But that was strike 3 if you like. Schilling has twice attempted to avoid a conflict previously. Hey, I'm not saying it's right, and Schilling is certainly no angel. There is also footage of him attacking a homeless guy recently, which he claimed was necessary. 🤔 Maybe I've just spent too much time in the past dealing with a certain type of character in bars, but now knowing he's ok, I struggle not to chuckle at it. 🤷‍♂️ Sue me!!
  12. An update on this story that no-one cares about! Royal AM refused to play any of their 3 playoff games. I particularly enjoyed this team going crazy after scoring a goal in an empty net......in an empty stadium:
  13. Not strictly boxing, but a lesson in being careful who you bump into at a bar, and then square up to. Cos sometimes they turn out to be an ex MMA champion: Gotta say, I'm fairly split on this one. Schilling should be fully aware his fists are far more deadly than your average joe on the street and thus, shouldn't be chucking them around willy nilly. But this guy looks like a standard bar clown that is the scourge of many of us just trying to enjoy a night out. We all know the type, thinks their antics are a riot and everyone is just loving their presence, when really they're just ruining everyone's night, and most are hoping they piss off soonish. Can't say I'm shedding a tear over him taking a quick 10 second nap. (He's perfectly ok btw, but is threatening to sue).
  14. Steady on now. It works 2 ways yeah. Rovers have paid him millions over the last few years. Have given him valuable game time to help his progression. The fans, in general, have been amazingly patient and given him a lot of backing. The grand result is that we've seen very little return on that investment, both financial and emotional. Now that is probably for a variety of reasons- injury problems, not being trusted, being played in odd positions, a poor outdated manager, a crisis of confidence etc etc- but it could easily be argued that he's been a spoke in our wheels. The rest of your post makes some very valid and sensible points. Just think a comment like this, on a Rovers messageboard, is not doing you any favours. You haven't been here for the last 3 years that we've all been willing him to succeed.
  15. That's a year or so before the injury. Rumour was it was lined up for the January window, and then Dack got injured just before Xmas. Stands to reason they could have come back in for him though. We just never had it confirmed past rumours on here.
  16. Interesting story happening in South Africa in the equivalent of our Championship trying to get into the top league. As far as I can tell Royal AM finished top of league on 51pts versus 2nd place on 50 pts, and celebrated promotion. The league authorities then decided the 2nd place team's opponent in a loss back in January hadn't fielded the right amount of U23 players and retrospectively awarded the 3 pts to them, thus making them league winners, and putting Royal AM in the playoffs. Royal AM have tried to fight it in Court, been ruled against. They turned up to their first playoff game today - players, bus, coaching staff etc- but then all got in their vehicles and pissed off before kickoff. Ref blew the whistle and Chippa Utd were awarded 3-0 win. Really odd. Why not just play the game AND still continue to fight it in Court. You might win and then it would become a moot point. All a bit of a shambles.
  17. Looks sharp doesn't he. Both been poor, but he's twice the player SG is. Should be ahead of him on the team sheet every time.
  18. And, if it's what I think you're referring to, the result is there's a topic now running on the issue. So.......no reason that couldn't happen here. It's not meant to be "them vs us" Stuart, it's just some people trying to keep the theads on track for the benefit of the readers. And if your big gripe is, the death of 96 football fans was briefly mentioned on a football fan site, in a thread about football, I'm genuinely a bit taken aback by the outrage.
  19. C'mon Stuart, threads often take slight tangents. It's when it goes on too long, and gets out of hand we tend to put a lid on it. Feels like that time's arrived.
  20. I wasn't opening up a debate. If you continue to make personal comments about posters, you will receive a ban, whether you return afterwards is your choice.
  21. There's some topics the mods might give a little understanding and leeway to as they cover particularly sensitive topics. This is the transfer thread people! If we can't speak to each other civilly in here, there's real problems. A few friendly warnings have been issued ( including JB suggesting some people use the ignore function yesterday). We're past that stage now. Anyone who continues to attack other posters personally, (in the sodding transfer thread! 🤷‍♂️), don't be surprised when you receive a ban. We're better than this right. 🤔
  22. In the last 25 years, Wales have got as far as us, as many times as us, in major tournaments. i.e. 1 semi final! Our last 3 competitive games v Scotland reads - 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss. We're hardly the world beaters we think we are sometimes. And knowing our special talent of bottling it in Tournaments when we're expected to win, I envisage a dodgy VAR penalty and sending off, a Scotland win, and Nicola Sturgeon to spontaneously combust in the corporate bar at Wembley............So, every cloud I guess.. 🤷‍♂️
