  1. Jesus Christ, what is with everyone tonight? Second person to say this. I have never once even insinuated vaping is "healthy". Let's use the term harmful for clarification. It was said vaping wasn't less harmful than smoking. I'm saying it is "less harmful", categorically, it's not even close (95%), and pretty much every medical organization agrees unanimously. And yet I'm being called out for it. 🤔 Not smoking, and not vaping are both by far the best choices anyone can make in their lives. Because, as has been said, nicotine is one of the most addictive substances around. Some have said sugar may be close but I won't take us down that rabbit hole.
  2. I'm done arguing, I'm just stating it as fact now: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/dec/28/vaping-is-95-safer-than-smoking-claims-public-health-england British Medical Journal the same, as I've already said, NHS too. The rest of points on it made by people fair enough, all seem valid. Just interesting how people rate the different "bad" substances. The obesity/sugar/diabetes crisis in youngsters is far more harmful at present than vaping imo, but no one would bat an eyelid if Mars or Snickers was going on the shirt. Hard to know where to draw the line. I suppose there was a fair bit of pushback on Macdonald's and Coke sponsoring recent football competitions. Just you take out alcohol, tobacco, gambling, all sugary products, all fatty products, all loan companies....then what you left with? Maybe cars? Nope, they're polluting the planet so can't do that till they all go electric. There's a hell of a lot clubs that need sponsors and a dwindling pool of companies to oblige, particularly after the pandemic.
  3. Different World an eternity ago. If you picked up today's scientists/medical professionals and plonked them back then they'd identify smoking as bad in about 2 days. (Also a lot of corruption back then). They've been looking at vaping in depth for a decade plus now. Totally get the encouraging children/crap branding angle though.
  4. C'mon, let's not get silly with statements. The NHS specifically says different: Did you know? E-cigarettes are far less harmful than smoking cigarettes and can help you quit. NHS website link
  5. I think I've said this before, and I'm not betraying any moderation confidentiality, but he got a very brief ban (48 hrs at a guess), and chose not to return to the forum after that. I believe he's never posted since then. About a year ago last January from memory. I'd prefer people knew that story than worry that anything untoward has happened.
  6. Thought it was just me. Quite surprised by the negative reaction tbh. Vaping is way healthier (still issues with it, I get that), doesn't stink like fags, and is much, much cheaper so you hopefully minimise poorer households wasting extortionate amounts on cigarettes that are needed for other essentials like food and utilities. And is a vital stepping stage to people giving up totally. I do understand, (or have heard), the issue with all the fruity flavours and bright, funky colours encouraging the younger generations to take it up. But what is people's major issue with it? The product itself or that the logo/branding is a bit naff? Genuinely interested to know. Bit shocked by the general consensus.
  7. Screw em, giving up. I'm not paying £10 for three quarters of a match where I've already missed the first goal.
  8. It's against the rules to show any 3pm kick off live. Only way they could do it is by moving the time.
  9. Me either. Timeout gateway fault has stopped, now unrecognized details. Awesome this. 🤬🤬
  10. Talksport today agreeing with you, they're suggesting 45 secs. Will never happen, but it's nice to dream. Would certainly eliminate all the faffing around which frustrates everyone, both in the ground and at home.
  11. Ah crap, yeah I've got it wrong way round. My gripe is one was practically stationary the other player ran into him, and that discounts the goal. You start officiating that and they'll be a couple on just about every corner goal scored, both attackers and defenders blocking off paths. Just stupid to start analyzing that imo, particularly a fair distance from the ball.
  12. That's where it's got lost somewhere along the way. It was supposedly brought in to stop absolute clangers. "Clear and obvious" howlers are recognizable almost instantly. Maradona's and Henry's handballs, wrong player sent off etc. Even look at Gamst's dodgy corner kick trick where he never actually touched it. That would be found out almost instantly by VAR. Over 3 and half mins is a joke. I would like to put a time limit on it, maybe 60 secs, and if u don't see anything obvious in that, then the goal stands. But I understand why that will never happen, puts video refs under pressure, technology could breakdown and then how does that effect the minute etc. Just frustrating when they start checking 3/4 different things on a goal, that's not what ANY of us want, and I'm fairly confident saying that.
  13. Bit like Rugby Union then, just a bit of common sense and all that. If only. On that note, loved the rugby last weekend, player knocked ball on scoring a try, ref "I need to go check that?", player just miserably shakes his head no. 👏👏 No wasting the fan's time.
  14. No way I want that much time wasted microanalysing a fairly subjective incident. I could completely understand it if the defender had really barged the player, but the attacker ran into him. It had taken long enough to establish Watkins hadn't touched the ball. Farce to then go back and get not one, but two, ref opinions on basically a non incident miles from the active ball.
  15. By a couple, comfortably too. I'm not concerned about confidence after that. We were a cut above them. The lad in the sticks has let everyone else down. He knows it. Not going to bash him, he'll do that to himself. Just hope Thomas stays injury free in goal for rest of the season....otherwise 😱😱
  16. Stretchered off the Sunderland Wycombe game after a nasty collision with his own keeper. Hope he's ok. It's a worry with the head injuries he's already had with us.
  17. West Ham are pretty desperate for someone like him. Fits them perfect tbh as he's probably at a level that would accept playing second fiddle to Antonio. Coming on with 30 mins left etc and covering his regular injury spells. That is quite the look. "Homage to Brian Harvey". He's even chucked in a blue steel. Man's playing 4D fashion. I say sign him up for off field entertainment alone. Him and Dack can trade grooming tips.
  18. Congrats to all the Bb family. And bonus, you can buy a joint Xmas/ birthday present every year so you've just saved a fortune. 😀
  19. Exactly the same on Talksport with Jim White and Simon Jordan today. Saying only 6 months left. Tbf Jordan said he still wouldn't sell and would risk losing him for free in summer. He conceded 15 mill upwards he'd cash in. Anything less keep him, and gamble that he'll get Rovers to the Prem.
  20. Lot of manpower and money to sort though. Just change the rules for rest of season. Double squads to 50, include all the u23's etc. If you don't field a team it's a 3-0 loss. Same rule for everyone. People scream it's unfair if a club has a covid outbreak, but it's also the same for injuries. It's unfair on us to lose Dack for 2 years, Liverpool Van Dyke a year etc But you've just got to play the cards your dealt sometimes. The top 2 divisions could definitely cope with that format. League 1 and 2 I'm not so sure.
  21. Two of their best players in Wilson and ASM pick up knocks and surprise surprise, they have a covid outbreak. "Can we please postpone the game till we've spent 100 odd million on new signings guv?" This is getting ridiculous now, teams are clearly abusing the system. They either need to do a complete circuit breaker stop to all football or put some hard rules in place to stop clubs manipulating things in their favour (which every club will do given the chance).
  22. Well this is a novel way for football to ruin my Boxing Day. Here was me thinking a teamsheet including Keith Andrews and Jason Roberts had been the peak.
  23. MOTM awards aren't given out at HT. That player might score two own goals and get sent off in 2nd half. (Highly likely if it's Shane Duffy). When the final whistle goes, if Tony's season performance has been excellent I'll give him the deserved praise and take back/swallow my previous criticism. I really hope he has me eating words come May. So far, so good. Let's hope it continues.
  24. Do you think you're gonna find many fans that don't back a manager in 3rd position? Not likely is it, but I have a feeling that's not the aim. P.S. You had to scroll so far because no one had yet come to the thread to congratulate Mowbray on the great job he's currently doing (although many had in the match thread). Oddly, your post reigniting the thread didn't do that either. 🤔
