Club Revenue Generators
Leonard Venkhater replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Quite. We seemed to be an exception. I am not sure the intention ever was for us to go anywhere either and I tend to think FFP was used as a shield... I remember an article a few years ago in the Guardian, I think. It made the troubling point that FFP would have prevented a Jack Walker but allowed for "Poultrygeist".. -

Laughable again. I wonder how much our embargo actually costed us in terms of lost opportunity! -
..or clubs, who have found ways to manoeuvre around the FFP stuff..

I am seeing the Lenihan business, as a barometer for the club's progress. I got the clear sense that he really wanted out, when we got relegated. He is an international, who is only likely to improve and now we have him on a long term contract. So far, so good (..but you know what happens next lol)

Or...just reflect on why you might be getting similar feedback from a number of people? Just saying....

Superman?

If we have too many players in positions where we are well stocked, that probably means less capacity to invest in areas, where we are obviously weaker. I also worry about the impact on younger players of our own, whose progress might be blocked. by the Rekeem Harpers and Jack Byrnes of this world.. Even if you disagree, I think it is a mistake to keep defining reasonable criticism, as moaning etc

That has to be a possibility. Certainly, a realistic worry. It doesn't help a message board, but I would much prefer it, if all this was merely a sign of Rovers working quietly to get their business done before it was leaked in the press. On the other hand, I would have hoped signings would be made in time for the trip to Austria that I thought was supposed to be about bonding , as well as fitness. Anyway, we will know soon enough!

Does anyone else remember anything about one of the conspiracy theories in which our favourite journo was actively involved with certain agents?
-
Maybe, he's not so bad after all ☺️

I agree. I am just so relieved we got that promotion. There were so many games I saw, where were were unconvincing for large parts. Many others have said the same thing. I know what I saw! I don't think I felt that about any of my five previous Rovers promotion sides, although we did win ugly a good few times during Kendall's promotion. For me, it is a bit of a paradox in that last year's team showed moments of genuine "poetry"to brighten up passages of turgid prose.. That said, I admit I also see games-or moments in games-through blue and white glasses. I don't think I will ever got over that one!

My post..exact words.. "He does have a point. Strip away the heady final days of what turned out to be a successful season. So many "ordinary" performances were saved by one or two moments of shear class. I would imagine a stroll through the match threads on this very site would find many expressing a similar view." Where do I even mention next season, let alone that we will struggle badly? We haven't even completed our business-at least, I hope not!? My post was very obviously-if you bother to check- a response to the instant dismissal of another poster's analysis of last season? You seem intent on ticking both keyboard warrior and straw man boxes at the same time. No, no no indeed! ?
-
Have you checked yet?
-
Not me. Go and check!
-
Obviously. No-one should expect that. I was merely supporting another poster's contention that in many game the fare was poor. Great to be able to win ugly, but that was not the point at issue.

Abandon hope?

...or merely a reflection of what you choose to attribute to the character...Books and covers etc...Neville Southall, anyone? Goodnight!

It's a bit like a phony war. We really won't know what to think until it is too late to do anything about it. I can't remember the name of that cardboard "director", who said "Don't judge us till September?" They really can't waste the opportunity to build on all the momentum and good will, can they??

new senior management team

Agreed, 47er. I know I am slightly off message, but I can only wonder( still fuming after all these years- with apologies to P.S..) why the hell they left it to wither on the vine for so long. Our lovely old house is ransacked and ruined, but I see the new garden shed is coming along nicely. Glad to see there are plans to fix the roof, as well. F.O.V -
Thought it was a new dating site!
